Articles for So You Think You Can Dance Season 4

The fourth season of my favorite summer hit, So You Think You Can Dance, begins tonight with a two-hour premiere starting at 8pm.  Expect a whole new crop of extremely talented young dancers, along with the requisite wave of delusional hopefuls who end up crashing and burning in the audition round. As you judge each hopeful from the comfort of your own living room, why not take BuddyTV‘s newest personality quiz to find out which So You Think You Can Dance judge you are most like?  Which So You Think You Can Dance Judge Are You? Read more »
There are people in this world who tune in to the audition rounds of American Idol or So You Think You Can Dance just to watch the talentless people who try to get on television.  Those people are not me.  I watch Idol for the Carrie Underwoods and the Chris Daughtrys.  I watch So You Think You Can Dance for the Sabra Johnsons and the Danny Tidwells of the world.  Last night‘s season premiere of the summertime reality tv show didn‘t necessarily give us a good idea of who will make the top 20.  They filled more than half the time with people who should not only never be allowed to dance but also, never be on television again. Read more »
It seems I’m not the only one who hates sitting through bad auditions for FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance. Though there are the few and the proud who love an awkward hip hop routine, an overwhelming amount of BuddyTV readers would rather pass. In a poll on our site, 87% of the readers said they would prefer to see more good auditions than bad. Some even opt to skip the audition rounds all together. “ I only start watching the show when it is like down to the last ten that way my face is not permanently scwinched from the bad dancing,” BuddyTV reader Krytrix said. It’s not just the BuddyTV readers who have had enough. On last night’s 2 hour episode, Nigel, Mary, and Mandy had no patience for those with a lack of training or a serious passion for dance. Read more »

So You Think You Can Dance returns for its second consecutive night of auditions this week.  Last night, the intrepid judges, Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy, descended upon Salt Lake City, Utah and Dallas, Texas to size up the dancing talents of the locals.  They were assisted by Mandy Moore in Salt Lake and Adam Shankman in Dallas, and they promoted a total of 82 dancers from these cities to the Vegas auditions.Tonight, the search for America‘s next favorite dancer continues with auditions in Charleston, South Carolina, as well as our nation‘s capital.  Keep checking back; I‘ll be here with live thoughts throughout the entire two-hour broadcast. Read more »

Okay, I’m going to take issue with So You Think You Can Dance. As I’ve been saying, I’m a big hater of the preliminary audition round. I always loved the Hollywood round for Idol and the Vegas round for So You Think You Can Dance. What I hate is the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus freak show they parade around us for weeks on end in the beginning of each season. All the judges do is complain and moan that these talentless “dancers” are wasting their time yet, those same judges are well aware of the format of the show and agree to sit through the bad auditions. When a talented dancer, with superb technical ability, walked on stage last night, you think the judges would’ve been happy. Instead, they showed him the door and left viewers scratching their heads. Read more »
It‘s the final night of preliminary auditions on So You Think You Can Dance, and the FOX promo guy promises that they‘ve saved the best for last.  Tonight better be good! The judges Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy have thus far visited Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Dallas, Charleston, SC, and Washington, DC.  Tonight, they trek into America‘s heartland to find even more talented dancer to bring to Vegas.  Stay with me tonight; I‘ll be providing you with live thoughts throughout the entire two-hour broadcast. Read more »
So You Think You Can Dance concluded its preliminary auditions tonight by taking a trip into America‘s heartland.  Judges Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy, who were joined tonight be husband and wife choreography duo Tabitha and Napoleon D‘Umo, journeyed to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to see what kind of talented dancers they could find there.More importantly, we are now only one day away from the Las Vegas callback auditions when So You Think You Can Dance announces the top 20 dancers.  That‘s when things will get really good! Read more »
Thank you, So You Think You Can Dance, for awarding the first half hour of last night’s two hour episode to the truly great auditions. Since tonight’s top 20 is announced, I’m glad that we had a little bit of a chance to get to know the real contenders instead of watching dummies roll around in their underwear or leap around in drag. From Katie Sheen to Janette Manrara, the first 30 minutes thrilled me to no end. Now if I could just figure out who the heck Napolean and Tabitha D‘Umo are, I’ll be all set! Read more »
Tonight, So You Think You Can Dance, makes its way to Sin City for the Vegas callback auditions.  We‘ll be taken through two hours of great dancers working their little butts off trying to impress the judges.  At the end of tonight‘s episode, the top 20 finalists will be announced.Stay with me throughout the entire broadcast.  I‘ll be here writing my live thoughts. Read more »
After visiting Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Dallas, Charleston, Washington and Milwaukee, the judges have invited over 200 of America‘s most talented dancers to Las Vegas for a grueling few days of callback auditions for So You Think You Can Dance.Tonight, we got a peek into the callbacks.  Every day, a different choreographer had a routine to teach the dancers.  The judges made cuts after each performance, and by the end of the night, we learned the identities of the top 20 dancers who would be going on to the real competition.  Read on to see who made it into the top 20. Read more »
The judges must have gone into casting for season 4 of So You Think You Can Dance with a plan.  Contemporary dancers were put through in massive numbers while hip hop and ballroom dancers were lucky just to be invited on the show.   On last night‘s Vegas episode, there were several truly amazing female dancers who just couldn‘t cut it enough to land a top 20 spot.  In particular was Lizz Plott, who talked way too much and found herself on a plane home instead of in front of a camera.  Nevertheless, the top 20 were chosen and now, get to know the 10 female a little bit better.  Don‘t forget to vote for your early favorite! Read more »
So You Think You Can Dance certainly showed the love to the contemporary dancers this year.  The judges decided to put through only one ballroom dancer, and three hip hop dancers.  The other six are all lyrical and contemporary, which should thrill Mia Michaels to no end.  On last night‘s Vegas episode, we saw a few favorites just miss making the top 20 from Jason Glover to Brandon Bryant.  The judges seem confident in their decision, and fans were happy to see that Twitch finally made it onto the show.  We didn‘t want to see you join the military either, buddy!  Here‘s a look at this season‘s top 10 males.  Read on to get to know them a little better and vote for your early favorite. Read more »
Now that a new season of So You Think You Can Dance has officially gotten underway, it‘s time for some power rankings.  We get things started today with the men and ranking them was a lot easier said than done.  A few of them have hardly been shown at all while others have gotten more camera time than any contestant could ask for.  The first week is full of uncertainties and it‘s hard to know what the votes are really based on.  It could be talent, looks, personality, and so on.  A dancer could luck out and pull a dance that is right in their comfort zone or stretch way beyond it and not deliver.  Taking all of these factors into account, I ranked the top 10 males in order.  Take a look, see what you think, and post your thoughts too! Read more »
Sometimes, I forgot there are even females on So You Think You Can Dance this season.  The show has been so focused on its male dancers and have hardly given its females any camera time.  Especially in the audition rounds, it seemed that the ratio was 2 or 3 men for every woman showed.  Nevertheless, the judges put 10 females through and they are now power ranked on BuddyTV.  In these early weeks, there are so many factors that affect whether a dancer stays or goes.  With many of these females not forming a relationship with the viewers early on, they‘ll have to step it up big time on tomorrow night‘s live performance show.  Others have to win over viewers while some just need a solid male partner to advance.  Read on, see what you think, and post your thoughts! Read more »
Welcome to the first night of performances on So You Think You Can Dance this season!Tonight, the top 20 performers pair up to form ten teams, and each team takes the stage to show us what they are really made of.  Also tonight, we get to vote for our favorites, and the guy and girl who get the fewest votes will be eliminated in tomorrow night‘s results show.Stay with me throughout the entire two-hour broadcast.  I‘ll be here providing you with live thoughts throughout. Read more »
The top 20 performers who were chosen among the more than 200 dancers who went to the Vegas callbacks got a chance to perform tonight on So You Think You Can Dance for the very first time.  Each girl was paired with a guy, and they randomly chose which style of dance to perform. It was an amazing two hours of performances, which ranged from the stately waltz to funky disco, and each of the top 20 really shined.  Plus, we at home finally get to have a say in who sticks around and who must dance for their lives tomorrow night in the results show.  Read on to see how the night of So You Think You Can Dance went, and which couples I liked best Read more »
Is it me or did it seem like everyone was trying way too hard in their videos on last night’s Top 20 episode of So You Think You Can Dance? The problem with the show is that often times, personality counts just as much, or even more, than the dancer’s ability or routine. Just ask Danny Tidwell. If technique and talent were the only things that were counted last season, he would’ve been the last dancer standing. I can’t imagine the pressure on a So You Think You Can Dance contestant. Last night, they not only had to work with a new partner, but perhaps a genre out of their comfort zone, and on top of all of that, they had to be ON. They had to be likable. They had to win people over, one 30 second video clip at a time. Read more »
The top 20 performers paired up and danced last night for the first time this season on So You Think You Can Dance.  We at home had our first opportunity to vote for our favorites last night.Tonight, we‘ll find out who will sail on through to next week and who will have to dance for their lives.  I‘ll be here providing you with live thoughts throughout the entire hour. Read more »
Tonight was the round of cuts on So You Think You Can Dance.  Results shows are always very bittersweet: it‘s always a relief to see the most deserving dancers get through to the next round, but sad to see anyone leave.  These top 20 dancers are undoubtedly all extremely talented, and although it‘s still early in the season and we haven‘t really gotten to know them all individually, it‘s still hard to see anyone go.Along with the live musical act (which was The Pussycat Dolls, and the less said about them, the better), we were treated to the first in a series of special guest dancers.  Popin Pete and Shonnie of The Electric Boogaloos performed an amazing popping routine. Read more »
It seemed the Jamie Bayard would fare well this season on So You Think You Can Dance.  He was the only West Coast swing dancer to make the top 20 and he had previously danced with last season‘s finalist, Lacey Schwimmer.  Yet, when he pulled hip hop from the hat with partner Rayven Armijo this week, it seemed to be the kiss of death.  Both Rayven and Jamie were eliminated on last night‘s live results episode.  Today, Jamie took some time to talk with BuddyTV in an exclusive interview, chatting about his solo, his girlfriend, and life after So You Think You Can Dance. Read more »
Rayven Armijo barely arrived in Los Angeles for So You Think You Can Dance before she was packing her bags and heading back home.  On last night‘s live elimination episode, Rayven was kicked off the show, along with her partner Jamie Bayard.  The two performed a hip hop routine, choreographed by Tabitha and Napoleon D‘Uno, that just wasn‘t memorable enough for the fans or the judges.  Today, Rayven spoke to BuddyTV in an exclusive interview about why she didn‘t dance on pointe, what she thinks of Jamie, and what lies ahead for her.Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »
My, how things can change in the matter of one week!   So many factors came into play this week on So You Think You Can Dance, from partners, to dances, to personalities.  BuddyTV readers felt that talent would play the biggest part in last week‘s elimination and perhaps it did, with Rayven Armijo‘s and Jamie Bayard‘s solos falling short of the mark for the judges.  This week, we power rank the male dancers and some find themselves catapulted to the top while, for others, it just seems like a matter of time before they are sent home.  Take a look at this week‘s rankings, see what you think, and post your thoughts! Read more »
Open mouth, insert foot.  Last week, I ranked Katee Sheen dead last for her behavior during Vegas week.  Little did I know that, after making Top 20 on So You Think You Can Dance, we saw her pair up with Joshua Allen and break out a killer hip hop routine, choreographed by Tabitha and Napoleon D‘Umo.  This catapults her to the top of this week‘s power rankings.  Many dancers at the top of my list slid way down the rankings either due to partnership, lack of chemistry, or lack of ability to adapt to other genres.  Read on for this week‘s rankings before tomorrow night‘s performance episode.  See what you think and post your thoughts, too! Read more »
Shane Sparks is extremely excited about the new season of America‘s Best Dance Crew. Talking to him the day before the season 2 premiere June 19 at 10pm on MTV, the choreographer is nothing but energy when discussing the crews and challenges that lie in wait for them.BuddyTV spoke to Shane Sparks about America‘s Best Dance Crew, finding out why he feels he‘s better suited to judge this show than So You Think You Can Dance, previewing what fans will see from the various challenges this season, and even boldly declaring his excitement for one particular dance crew this season in particular. Last week on So You Think You Can Dance, Rayven Armijo and Jamie Bayard were the first girl and guy to be eliminated from the competition.  Tonight, the remaining 18 dancers select all new styles of dance to perform in their continued attempt to woo us viewers at home.  Will Katee and Josh stay our favorites?  Or will another pair outshine them tonight?Stay with me throughout the entire two-hour broadcast, while I provide you with live thoughts.  Then, check back later to see who I thought were the best and worst couples of the evening. Read more »
The top nine couples return for the second week of competition on So You Think You Can Dance to continue to try to win America‘s hearts and become America‘s favorite dancer.Tonight‘s two-hour performance show was packed with all kinds of styles, from the stately Viennese waltz to the hard-hitting krump.  Some pairs fell a little flat, but some truly shined.  Who do you think will make it through to next week?  Who will find themselves in the bottom 3 in tomorrow‘s So You Think You Can Dance results show?  Read on to see what I thought of the evening‘s performances. Read more »
Last night’s episode of So You Think You Can Dance was reminiscent of any episode of American Idol. Someone performs, the judges give their critiques, and the audience boos. I’m sorry, is an audience full of teenage aspiring dancers more knowledgeable about technique than say, MIA MICHAELS? She is an award winning, mainly an Emmy award winning, choreographer. I think we can all shut up for 30 seconds to listen to what the woman has to say. The judges can’t even say anything other than completely favorable comments. If they even hint that they weren’t totally on board with someone’s performance, the audience erupts into boos. It’s almost predictable and is starting to come across as fabricated. Could the audience be coached into booing by a production assistant? Read more »
Last night on So You Think You Can Dance, the top 18 dancers performed a variety of styles, from the Viennese waltz to krump, to varying reviews from the judges.  The judges, Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy and Mia Michaels, are back tonight, and we‘ll find out the result of last night‘s vote.  Who will make it through to next week?  Which couples will land in the bottom three?  Will the judges continue to reward technique over personality? The only way to find out is to watch tonight‘s So You Think You Can Dance results show, or to read my live thoughts! Read more »
The second round of eliminations was made tonight on So You Think You Can Dance, and the second pair of dancers were sent home. Tonight‘s guest dance performer was Timo Nunez, a Flamenco dancer who had auditioned for So You Think You Can Dance for two years and made it to Vegas both times. The live musical act was Flo Rida, who also provided the tunes for the hip hop group performance at the beginning of the night. After tallying the millions of votes after last night‘s performances, three couples found themselves in the bottom three. One guy and one girl said good-bye. Read on to see who they were. Read more »
The judges are showing no mercy this season on So You Think You Can Dance.  Two weeks in a row, they‘ve eliminated an entire couple from the show.  Last week, they sent Rayven Armijo and Jamie Bayard home and last night, they told Susie Garcia and Marquis Cunningham to pack their bags.  Marquis, and 18 year old contemporary dancer from Florida, took it hard that his partner was sent home then found out seconds later that he would be joining her.  Many people in the studio audience booed the decision by the judges, feeling that they got it wrong.  Marquis left, though, with his head held high and today, spoke to BuddyTV in an exclusive interview.Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »
Last week, on So You Think You Can Dance, the judges praised Susie Garcia for her beautiful waltz with partner, Marquis Cunningham.  This week, they seemed determined to get rid of her.  One by one, Nigel, Mary, and Mia all told Susie that she had lost her fire and they didn‘t seem impressed with her anymore.  On last night‘s live elimination episode, they sent her and Marquis home.  Today, the 25 year old Latin dancer from Miami spoke to BuddyTV in an exclusive interview.  She dished on everything from her partner, to whether or not she lost her heat, to what‘s next for this sexy ballroom dancer.Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »
On last week’s performance episode of So You Think You Can Dance, the judges didn’t hold back when giving their critiques to the dancers. From telling them they weren’t hard hitting enough to calling one dancer dumpy, the panel certainly had no problem letting their opinions be heard. The following night, viewers were shocked when Susie Garcia and Marquis Cunningham were eliminated, especially since no valid reason was given by the judges for their decision. Today, Mary Murphy shed a little light on the subject in a no holds barred interview with the Los Angeles Times. Read more »
You know what?  I thought about it.  I can understand why the judges were harsh last week on So You Think You Can Dance.  The dances just weren‘t memorable.  Sitting down to rank the men today, I really had to rack my brain to remember any of the dances besides Gev and Courtney‘s contemporary routine and Josh and Katee‘s Broadway routine.  Those two hours last Wednesday were kind of a blur and I hope that everyone plans to step it up this week.  For this week‘s rankings, a dancer I wouldn‘t have minded seeing go home now takes the top spot while the male contemporary dancers are right where they belong - at the bottom. Read more »
The top eight couples took the stage by storm tonight on So You Think You Can Dance. The question is, which one of these 16 dancers will become America‘s next favorite dancer?Tonight‘s performance show featured all sorts of great styles, including a sultry rumba, a fun and quirky contemporary and two amazing hip hop routines. The night was very entertaining but, of course, we won‘t know who will have to dance for their lives on tomorrow night‘s So You Think You Can Dance results show. Read on to see which of the eight performances I liked the best. Read more »
We are ever closer to finding out which dancers will make it to the top 10 on So You Think You Can Dance.  So far, in the competition, Rayven, Jamie, Susie and Marquis have all had to bid us adieu, but there are still 16 talented young dancers left.Tonight is a whole new night of performances.  We‘ll get to learn a little bit more about each of the remaining dancers.  Will Chris start showing us some real personality, or will he continue to drag down his partner?  Will Katee and Josh continue to be the judges‘ golden couple, or will this week be the week they slip up?  Whatever happens, you can be sure that I‘ll report it all here in my live thoughts! Read more »
Can someone answer me this: Why did the judges put Chris Jarosz through?  I‘m not even talking about his ability or his technique but it just seems that they don‘t even want him there.  I actually didn‘t think his jazz routine with Comfort was as bad as the judges felt it was.  They have cut him down each week, telling him everything he did wrong, but not really giving much suggestion for the future.  Guest judge Adam Shankman gave advice for the future to almost every male dancer but Chris was left hanging.  This reminds me of last season when Mary Murphy told Cedric that she wanted him gone.  When the judges want to get rid of somebody, they make it known and it looks like there‘s a big ol‘ bullseye on Chris‘s back. Read more »
Last night on So You Think You Can Dance, the top 16 performers paired up for the third week of performances.  There were some amazing standouts, notably from Katee and Josh.  There was also a lackluster quickstep courtesy of Chelsea T and Thayne.  But it all comes down to who America voted for.Tonight will mark the end of one more girl and one more guy on their journey towards being America‘s favorite dancer.  Who will it be?  Keep coming back here; I‘ll provide you with live thoughts throughout the hour. Read more »
It‘s Thursday again, and you know what that means: one more guy and one more girl must be eliminated from the competition on So You Think You Can Dance.Tonight‘s results show featured the dance crew known as Quest, a hip hop group that counts among its members So You Think You Can Dance‘s own Hok Konishi, Dominic Sandoval and Ryan Conferido. They were joined by live musical guest Jordin Sparks, of American Idol, singing "One Step At a Time."But which of the top 16 dancers found themselves in the bottom three? And which two were sent home? Read on to find out. Read more »
It was certainly not an easy road for contemporary dancer Chris Jarosz this season on So You Think You Can Dance.  He sailed through the audition round, getting a ticket straight to Vegas after performing his solo for the judges.  In Vegas, he survived each elimination round, showing that he can pull off any style.  When he hit the Top 20 though, things changed.  Perhaps it was the odd pairing of him and hip hop dancer, Comfort Fedoke.  Perhaps it was the dance styles they were given from Krump to African Jazz.  Whatever it was, the judges weren‘t having it with him and, week after week, cut him down after his performances.  Last night, they sent him home and today, he spoke to BuddyTV in an exclusive interview.Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »
Perhaps Chelsea Traille was dealt a bad hand this season on So You Think You Can Dance.  In the early audition rounds, the beautiful contemporary dancer stood out.  When she made the Top 20, she was paired with Thayne Jasperson.  The two got along well but couldn‘t seem to pull off a dance that impressed the judges outside of week 1‘s cha cha.  They landed in the bottom three for the second week in a row and it proved to be the last time she would ever dance on that stage.  While Thayne was spared, the judges decided that it was ultimately the end of the road for Chelsea.  Today, she spoke exclusively to BuddyTV in an interview, talking about making peace with being sent home and what made her partner so great to work with. Read more »
At this point, I think it‘s pretty obvious who‘s going on tour with So You Think You Can Dance and who‘s going home.  It‘s a race to the Top 10 but unfortunately, it doesn‘t look like Thayne Jasperson or Matt Dorame are going to get there.  The two contemporary dancers are going to have to do something pretty spectacular in order to knock out frontrunners like Twitch Boss and Joshua Allen.  At this point, it could be a lost cause.  With a few exceptions, last week‘s performance episode was full of impressive routines from sexy sambas to hard hitting hip hop.  For this week‘s power rankings, the usuals are sitting at the top but one contemporary dancer made a leap forward after showing that he can impress in any style. Read more »
It seems to be a tighter race between the men this season on So You Think You Can Dance than the women.  There are definitely female dancers who are bringing their talent and their personality to the able.  There are some who just bring one or the other and those are the ones who are going to find themselves in trouble over the next few weeks as the battle for Top 10 heats up.  Success on So You Think You Can Dance depends on many things from the right routine to the right partner.  Some of the girls seems to have gotten the luck of the draw this season while others encounter an obstacle each week.  It‘s no surprise who takes the top spot in this week‘s power rankings, especially after Adam Shenkman called her "a true competitor". Read more »
The top seven couples took the stage tonight on So You Think You Can Dance. There is usually a lot to talk about on performance nights, and that is especially true tonight because, for the first time all season, each couple had to perform two routines. There was nary a minute of filler in the whole two-hour broadcast. The thing is, with 14 performances to watch, it‘s extraordinarily difficult to rank them all. I can hardly remember the performances in the first half of the first hour. But I‘ll do my darnedest. Here are my rankings for each of the 14 performances. Read more »
Last week on So You Think You Can Dance, Chelsea Traille and Chris Jarosz were eliminated, meaning there is now finally some swappage of partners.  This week, Thayne and Comfort had to learn how to dance together.  Hopefully, this will be a better partnership for both of these two.The fop seven girls and the top seven guys take the stage once again for another night of performances.  As always, I will be here with live thoughts throughout the two hours of So You Think You Can Dance tonight. Read more »
In Vegas, the judges questioned Katee Shean’s passion for dance, after she said that she wouldn’t return if she didn’t make the Top 20 this season on So You Think You Can Dance. Judge and choreographer Mia Michaels said she couldn’t envision working with someone who would give up at the young age of 20. Still, they put her through and if anyone had any doubt that Katee wasn’t passionate about dance, it was squashed in the first moments of her first week in the Top 20. Katee and Josh broke away from the pack with an amazing hip hop routine choreographed by Tabitha and Napoleon D’Umo and haven’t looked back since. Read more »
Okay, so not everybody is on the Josh and Katee bandwagon.  This reminds me of American Idol‘s David Archuleta this past season.  Sure, the kid could sing but a lot of people felt that the judges were over praising him and it seemed that the wonder boy could do no wrong.  That is, until he lost to David Cook in the season finale.  Will Josh and Katee meet the same fate - staying at the top of the pack all season long until the moment that matters the most?  Staying at the top of the pack all season depends on several key factors and technique might be the least important.  Just ask Matt Dorame.  An amazing technical dancer, he had every other factor working against him and was sent home before making the Top 10, aka the group that will go out on the national tour. Read more »
The number of dancers left on So You Think You Can Dance is steadily dwindling. Tonight the top 14 dancers became 12.Among the notable aspects from tonight‘s results show was a guest performance from Robert Muraine, the amazing popper from California, who made it to Las Vegas but gave up after a day of grueling auditions. He came back tonight to show off his contortionist abilities, and even agreed to come back to battle against Phillip Chbeeb for the So You Think You Can Dance finale. Also performing was OneRepublic. Read more »
Last night on So You Think You Can Dance, the top seven couples took the stage.  For the first time this season, each couple performed not one but two routines each, with styles ranging from the paso doble to hip hop to Broadway.Katee and Josh wowed everyone with a hauntingly beautiful Mia Michaels contemporary piece, while Kourtni L. and Matt underwhelmed the judges with a mediocre hip hop performance. But it‘s down to America‘s votes.  The votes have been tallied, and three guys and three girls will have to dance for their lives.  Who will they be? Read more »
Matt Dorame has had a few days to process his elimination from So You Think You Can Dance.  He and partner Kourtni Lind were sent home on last Thursday‘s live elimination episode, just two weeks shy of making the Top 10.  Making it that far is a goal for all of the dancers, as it means that they make the national tour.  Still, Matt accepted the judges‘ decision and has no regrets about his time on the show.  Today, he spoke to BuddyTV in an exclusive interview, opening up about his partner, the other dancers, and what kept him sane during his time on So You Think You Can Dance. Read more »
The minute Kourtni Lind hit 18, she headed to try out for So You Think You Can Dance.  On her first try, she made it to Vegas and through to the Top 20.  She has studied at her mother‘s dance studio since the age of 3 and graduated high school early to get her dance career started.  She was paired up with Matt Dorame this season on So You Think You Can Dance and they found themselves in the bottom group more often than they would have liked.  Last week proved to be their last as the judges sent both Matt and Kourtni home.  Today, after enjoying the holiday weekend, Kourtni talked to BuddyTV in an exclusive interview!Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »
Last night on So You Think You Can Dance, we witnessed the final round of performances before finding out which dancers will make up the final 10, the 10 who will be going on tour beginning this September.  Just like last week, each couple performed two dances each, and we saw the usual diversity of styles that we‘ve come to expect on So You Think You Can Dance, including the first ever Bollywood routine, performed by the judges‘ favorites, Katee and Josh.Tonight, we‘ll see which couples were America‘s favorites, and which three couples will have to dance for their lives.  Keep checking back; I‘ll have live thoughts throughout the hour-long results show. Read more »
The wait is over. We now know the identities of the top 10 So You Think You Can Dance finalists, who will be making their way across the United States, from Tacoma, Washington to Tampa, Florida in the So You Think You Can Dance tour.Tonight, the guest dance performance was a spectacular number from the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. The musical performer was Katy Perry, singing "I Kissed a Girl."But enough of that. Last night, on So You Think You Can Dance, Comfort Fedoke and Thayne Jasperson were sent home just before making the Top 10.  Reaching that milestone is a goal for every dancer on the show, as it means that they will get to head out on the wildly popular national tour once the show is over.  After a disappointing performance Wednesday night, judge Mia Michaels said that she would have to back off from supporting the hip hop dancer.  When she found herself in the bottom 3 for the fourth time in a row, the judges couldn‘t save her any longer and eliminated her from the competition.  Today, Comfort spoke to BuddyTV in an exclusive interview and dished on her partners, her training, and what she thinks of the judges.Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »
We are so close to finding out which of the dancing hopefuls on So You Think You Can Dance will make it to the top 10.Last week, the couples each performed two routines each.  Kourtni Lind and Matt Dorame faltered and were shown the door.  Who will shine this week?  Who will stumble?  How many times will the judges get booed tonight?I‘ll be here with my live thoughts throughout the entire two-hour performance show.  Keep checking back! Read more »
Tonight‘s So You Think You Can Dance performance show brought out an wide range of styles from two beautifully choreographed contemporary routines, a krump, and even a Bollywood dance, the first ever on So You Think You Can Dance. Each of the six remaining couples performed two routines each tonight, this last night before finding out who will be in the top 10 and get to go on tour beginning in September. The judges were still very harsh on Comfort and Thayne, but surprisingly, they softened on Jessica. Katee and Josh got their first negative comments of the season for their first performance, but the universe got back in order for their second dance when they received glowing praise. It was again extremely difficult to pick my favorites tonight because at this stage of the game, everyone works so hard to bring us great performances. Read on to see which couple I liked the best and which I liked the least. Read more »
I, like many viewers out there, was a little skeptical when I saw Josh and Katee pull Bollywood from the hat for the last performance last night on So You Think You Can Dance. A) I didn‘t know if they could pull it off and B) I wasn‘t sure what to expect. What resulted was a beautiful display of world dance, expertly choreographed by Nakul Dev Mahajan. As the judges said, the Bollywood style incorporates many different styles of dance from Hip Hop to African to Russian. Because it was the first of its kind for the show, and because it was danced by Josh and Katee, this routine will go down as one of the season‘s most memorable and will definitely end up on the tour. Tonight‘s Top 10 will be announced, the lucky group that gets to head out on the national tour, and without a doubt, Josh and Katee will be there. Read more »
Thayne Japerson was THIS CLOSE to making the Top 10 on FOX‘s So You Think You Can Dance.  Last night, though, proved to be his last dance and the judges decided to send him home.  Thayne landed in the bottom three for the fourth time last night and, up against Will Wingfield and Twitch Boss, the judges seemed to have an easy time eliminating him.  His partner, Comfort Fedoke, also was sent packing.  Today, Thayne spoke to BuddyTV in an exclusive interview. He spoke about his dance background, his upcoming movie, and gave BuddyTV readers a little inside info about the upcoming tour.  Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »
Last year, on So You Think You Can Dance, the show was filled with controversy after dancer Jessi Peralta missed a performance. She was rushed to the hospital but left the next day against doctor’s orders to be on the show. Because she missed a performance, the judges felt it was only fair that she automatically be placed in the bottom three, along with her partner Pasha Kovalev, who did perform without her. She returned to dance her solo, only to be eliminated that night. Fans cried foul, the show defended itself, and Jessi was never heard from again. This week, it was announced that one of the dancer suffered an injury and voluntarily left the show. A previously eliminated dancer will rejoin the show in their place and the show will continue on, hopefully without any drama. Read more »
At the beginning of So You Think You Can Dance tonight, Jessica King explained why she will not be continuing on in the competition. She broke two ribs and fractured a third, and her doctored ordered her to stay away from dancing for four weeks to let it heal. Fortunately, she made it to the top 10 before having to withdraw from the competition, so we should expect her to dance in the So You Think You Can Dance tour after the season ends. So, to take Jessica‘s place, the judges welcomed Comfort back to the show, since she was the last female to be eliminated.Tonight, all the dancers swapped partners and performed three times, one solo in their own style, and two dances in pairs chosen randomly. There was a wide range in the quality of dancing tonight, from just OK to some of the best routines I‘ve ever seen on this show. Read on to see who I thought was the best. Read more »
In the shake up of all shakeups, we found out today that Jessica King will no longer continue on So You Think You Can Dance due to an injury and will be replaced by Comfort Fedoke.  It‘s all shrouded in a veil of secrecy which will hopefully be lifted tonight when Jessica comes forward to tell us what happened.Other than that big news, the newly selected top 10 dancers will exchange partners and groove their way to being America‘s favorite dancer.  I‘ll be here all night with my live thoughts.  Stick around! Read more »
Can someone explain what is going on with Kherington Payne in the last few weeks? I’ll admit to being a bit skeptical when she made the Top 20 back in the Vegas rounds but she immediately won me over with high energy, entertaining routines with partner Twitch Boss. Last week, it looked like she literally gave up in the middle of a tango routine with him and this week, the light in her eyes were gone again as she performed two routines with new partner, Mark Kanemura. Her smile at the end of her routine seemed forced and it’s difficult to figure out what’s going on in her head right now. Unfortunately for Kherington, it doesn’t really matter what’s going on with her because audiences expect a killer performance every week and she has stopped delivering. Read more »
So You Think You Can Dance is starting to heat up and get exciting!  We have known the identities of the top 10 finalists for a week now, but which of them will be continuing on to next weeK?We know for sure that it won‘t be Jessica King who, due to an injury, has had to withdraw from the competition.  And tonight, for the first time on So You Think You Can Dance this season, the fate of the dancers lies entirely in the hands of voters at home.I‘ll write down everything that happens faithfully right here in my live thoughts.  Stay with me tonight! Read more »
This week marks a big shift in the plate tectonics of So You Think You Can Dance. For the first time all season, the fates of the dancers are solely based on the votes of the home audience. The judges no longer have a say about who stays or who goes. There weren‘t any guest performances tonight. Instead, we were treated a group Bollywood routine danced by all 10 finalists. Then the top five girls danced a contemporary routine choreographed by Mia Michaels, and the top five guys danced a Broadway routine choreographed by none other than executive producer Nigel Lythgoe himself. But most importantly, we also found out which two guys and which two girls got the fewest number of votes. Although all their fates were sealed when the final vote was counted last night, all four of these dancers got another chance to dance another solo. Read more »
So You Think You Can Dance is bringing you all new performances by the top eight dancers tonight.  It‘s getting nerve-wracking now on So You Think You Can Dance now that we‘re down to the wire with so few dancers left.  Last week was the first round of cuts that truly saddened me; I was heartbroken to see Kherington Payne  and Gev Manoukian go.  Tonight, I‘m not only excited to see what fabulous routines are in store for us, but I‘m terrified about which two are going to be eliminated tomorrow. Read more »
We‘re only two short weeks away from the finale of So You Think You Can Dance. We‘re down to only eight talented dancers, and the competition has gotten fiercer than we ever thought possible.Tonight, the dancers swap partners once more. Each pair dances two routines each and everyone dances another solo, all in the attempts of winning America‘s hearts.Read on to see who I put at the top of the rankings this week. Read more »
There are only eight dancers left on So You Think You Can Dance, but only four can make it to the finale.  The votes from last night‘s performance show have all been cast.  Now it‘s only a matter of time before we find out which six dancers will make to next week.Who will be cut tonight?  Will Comfort make one more week?  Will perennial favorite Katee be in danger?Whatever happens, I‘ll be sure to report it here in my live thoughts. Read more »
Things have been relatively surprise-free thus far on So You Think You Can Dance.  Yes, there have been many exceptionally talented dancers, but for the most part, every elimination has made sense.  I, at least, have agreed with the judges when they were making their decisions, and when the judges handed the eliminating power over to America, I‘ve also pretty much agreed with every round of voting as well. That all changed tonight.  Read on to see which two guys and which two girls landed in the bottom four tonight.  You won‘t believe it.But before I get to that, let me just mention tonight‘s guest performers.  Two dancers from the Los Angeles Ballet showed up to perform a beautiful Ballanchine pas de deux, and then LL Cool J himself performed his latest hit, "Baby."  Talk about diversity in genres. Read more »
As we‘ve seen in recent weeks on So You Think You Can Dance, it‘s becoming impossible to predict who will stay and who will go.  It‘s hard to believe we‘re only one week from the finale and I have no idea who‘s going to be there or who‘s going to win.First, FOX aired a repeat of last week‘s elimination episode.I‘m here covering the live performance episode all hour.  Read on and post your thoughts, too! Read more »
Tonight’s episode of So You Think You Can Dance was very difficult to rank. At this point, you get the sense that all of these dancers deserve to be here and any one of them could be going home tomorrow. Unfortunately, there were no Mia Michaels contemporary routines tonight but every dance that went up on that stage tonight was well danced and executed. That being said, we still have to rank tonight’s performances so read on to find out where the pairs landed as well as the solos. See if you agree and post your thoughts, too! Read more »
It‘s hard to believe that we‘re already at the finale for season 4 of So You Think You Can Dance.  Over the last few weeks, the show has dealt out some shocking eliminations, from contemporary dancer Will Wingfield to ballroom dancer, Chelsie Hightower.  Now, only 4 dancers remain - 2 contemporary dancers and 2 hip hop dancers.  Each brings a set of strengths (and weaknesses) to the table and it‘s possible that it‘s anyone‘s game.  Here‘s a closer look at the final 4 dancers, as we try to figure out what could earn them the title of America‘s Favorite Dancer ... and what could cost them it. Read more »
Latin ballroom dancer Chelsie Hightower basically did as well as anybody could expect to on So You Think You Can Dance - except for the fact that she didn‘t win.  However, she never landed in the bottom groups and she never had to dance for her life.  She formed a strong fan base early on, who voted for her and took her all the way to Top 6.  On last night‘s live elimination episode, she was sent packing, along with her original partner, Mark Kanemura.  They didn‘t head home, though.  The two got right to work, rehearsing for next week‘s finale and soon, she‘ll start rehearsing for the tour.  Today, she spoke to BuddyTV in an exclusive interview.Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »
He may not necessarily think so but Mark Kanemura was quite the underestimated dancer this season on So You Think You Can Dance.  He didn‘t have a built in fan base from last season the way Twitch did.  He didn‘t have a big name choreographer backing him the way Will did.  He didn‘t start off this season with memorable routines the way Josh did.  Yet, Mark brought something to the table that kept him alive through much of this competition: he was unique.  His individuality was a quality his fans appreciated and they catapulted him all the way to Top 6 before he was eliminated on last night‘s episode.  Today, he spoke to BuddyTV in an exclusive interview about the tour, his partner, and living in a bubble for the last few months.Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »
Fans spent the last 24 hours trying to figure out who was going to go home on tonight’s elimination episode of So You Think You Can Dance. The top 6 danced beautifully on last night’s performance episode and the judges raved about each one of them. Tonight, guest judge Adam Shankman revealed a surprise. He’ll offer next week’s winner a featured role in his next film! The stakes are even higher than ever and nobody felt safe going into tonight’s episode.  It was pretty obvious which two dancers would be the first to move on to the finale but one of the eliminations ended up being a little more surprising than the other!  Read on for details on tonight‘s elimination episode of So You Think You Can Dance! Read more »
Tonight‘s elimination certainly seems up in the air on So You Think You Can Dance.  Last night‘s episode was arguably one of the strongest of all time, with each pair receiving high praise from the judges.  The dancers who make it through tonight will go on to the finale and one of them will be crowned the winner next week.  The pressure is on and any one of the final 6 could go home tonight! Can Katee and Josh make it without having ever landed in the bottom this season or will they dance for their lives for the first time tonight?I‘ll be here for the next hour with my thoughts so read on and post yours, too! Read more »
How in the world are we supposed to decide who goes home tonight on So You Think You Can Dance? It seems pretty clear that Josh and Katee will go straight to the finale without ever having had to worry about dancing for their lives this season. I’m not sure that’s ever happened to a couple in the history of the show. It’s pretty impressive, to say the least. When it comes to Courtney, Chelsie, Twitch, and Mark, though, I thought they performed pretty equally last night. Let’s take a look back at how these 4 dancers have performed this season to try to figure out which 2 will be leaving us tonight and which 2 will move on to next week’s finale. Read more »
When any reality show starts looking like its here to say, its easy for it to start falling into comfortable patterns.  We know that we can count on Trump‘s voiceovers in the boardroom or overdramatic looks at tribal council.  We know that it‘s never a full on foot race to the pit stop and we know there‘s nothing more than water in Paula‘s glass.  Still, we talk about it and we‘ve come to expect it.  We even like it ... even though we complain about it.  So You Think You Can Dance is now fully into its fourth season and, here at BuddyTV, we‘ve started to notice a few cliches that seem to pop up week after week.  Read on to find out what they are and vote for the one you wouldn‘t mind parting ways with! Read more »
It‘s getting down to the wire on So You Think You Can Dance.  Last week. for the Top 10 performances, all of the dancers had to change up their partners.  For some, it proved to only further them in the competition, like Katee and Will.  For others, it became a struggle that exposed their weaknesses, like Kherington and Mark.  Though it may not be clear who the winner will be this season, it is starting to become obvious who will land in the bottom group at least for this coming week.  After weeks of watching the contestants dance and gotten to know their personalities a little better, it‘s safe to say that I‘ve chosen who I want to throw my support behind and hopefully, watch win this whole thing in a few weeks.  Read on to see if you agree and post your thoughts, too! Read more »
When you‘ve got fans as passionate as the ones for So You Think You Can Dance, it‘s easy to get into heated debates.  On message boards all across the internet, and right here at BuddyTV, they‘ll debate about which dancers are better, what makes them pick up the phone to vote, and of course, who should win.  Ask any true fan of the show about their favorite routines of all time and they can rattle them off without wasting a moment.  This week, we take a look at some of season 3‘s best dancers and put them head to head again season 4‘s Top 8 dancers.  Read on, see what you think, and post your thoughts on which season had the better dancers! Read more »
To say that this season of So You Think You Can Dance has been a roller coaster for Comfort Fedoke is an understatement.  She had her ups and downs in the Vegas audition rounds but prevailed, making it through to the Top 20.  Almost immediately, she found herself in the bottom groups, up for elimination, week after week.  She and partner Thayne Jasperson were sent home right before making Top 10 but were selected to go on tour as swings.  Right after she was eliminated, Jessica King got injured and was forced to drop out of the competition so Comfort was brought back.  She landed in the bottom two that week, but Kherington Payne went home.  This week became her last (for the second time) and she was sent home for good.  Today, she spoke to BuddyTV in an exclusive interview!Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »
It was a scenario that many So You Think You Can Dance fans didn‘t want to see.  Twitch Boss and Will Wingfield, two of this season‘s frontrunners, landed in last night‘s bottom two and one of them had to go.  Will, who has landed in the bottom a few times this season, was the one that pulled the least amount of votes this week and was sent home.  Will is Debbie Allen‘s protege and she had to step down as a judge this season so that he could participate.  Was that move a blessing or a curse?  In Will‘s exclusive interview with BuddyTV today, he addresses that as well as how he feels about his fellow competitors.Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »
After Will Wingfield‘s surprising elimination last week on So You Think You Can Dance, it‘s hard to say what America is thinking.  As many fans have said, this isn‘t about finding America‘s best dancer - it‘s about finding America‘s favorite dancer.  Technique won‘t win you this thing.  You need to have the right personality, the right routines, the right partner, and perhaps most importantly, the right editing.  I‘d love to base this week‘s rankings on my own personal taste but I think America is starting to make it loud and clear who they want to see in the finale and who they want to see dance for their lives.  Perhaps it doesn‘t matter anymore what these top 6 do if America‘s mind is already made up.  Read on, check out the rankings, and see what you think! Read more »
If you’re having a hard time deciding who to vote for in next week’s season finale of So You Think You Can Dance, you’re not alone! BuddyTV readers have been in heated debates for week over whether Twitch is better than Josh, if Katee is arrogant or served, and if a ballroom dancer can really produce a solo that’s worthy of making the final four. In a poll last week on BuddyTV’s site, 31% of the readers said that Katee was their favorite dancer and she also came in first in the power rankings. Twitch is in second place with 27% of the votes and everyone else is pretty even from there, with the exception of Courtney, who only pulled 6% of the votes. As we said, though, you’re not alone if you‘re not sure who deserves your final vote. So You Think You Can Dance judge Mary Murphy spoke out this week and said that she has no clue who’s going to walk away the winner next Thursday. Read more »
Who could forget Gev‘s audition this year for So You Think You Can Dance?  As if his breakdancing skills weren‘t impressive enough, he showed off on a pair of ice skates!  From that day on, Gev became a sentimental favorite, catapulting him this year‘s Top 10.  He was paired with contemporary dancer Courtney Galiano for much of the competition.  The two worked beautifully together and had great chemistry.  Nigel even teased Gev, saying that when he got a new partner, he wasn‘t as focused because he was still thinking of Courtney.  After being eliminated last night, Gev talked to BuddyTV today in an exclusive interview and addressed those romance rumors!Below, you will find the complete mp3 and transcript of the interview. Read more »
When Jessica King had to bow out of So You Think You Can Dance due to an injury, Comfort Fedoke was brought back to take her place.  When Comfort landed in the bottom two last night, it seemed apparent that she would be eliminated - again.  Yet, it was Kherington Payne who ended up getting the boot, a results show that surprised everyone from the judges to the audience to her fellow dancers.  Kherington took it all in stride, telling BuddyTV that she had prepared herself just in case it ended up being her who had to go home.  She lit up the stage for much of the competition but the judges started to worry, in recent weeks, that she had lost her fire.  Today, Kherington spoke to BuddyTV in an exclusive interview and addressed the issue.  She also let us know what Mary said to her after her elimination and gave her true feelings on former partner, Twitch Boss.Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »
It‘s no wonder that tickets for the So You Think You Can Dance tour are selling out so quickly.  In some cities, fans with pre-sale passwords bought up all the seats, leaving none for the general public when they went on sale.  There have been countless memorable routines this season, in just about every dance style imaginable.  So You Think You Can Dance fans have latched on to their favorite contestants and have been vocal about their performances, their eliminations, or their chances of winning the whole thing this year.  Take a look back at season 4 and see if your favorite routine made our Top 10 list.  If you think we missed something, post your thoughts and what you thought was the best routine this season! Read more »
Cat Deeley has been the public face of So You Think You Can Dance almost since the beginning. She is by far one of the most genuine hosts on TV today. Her compassion and caring for each of the dancers is apparent on camera, and in this interview, she explains that her camaraderie with the dancers continues offstage as well.In anticipation of this week‘s season finale, Cat Deeley sat down with members of the press this week to discuss what it‘s like to host So You Think You Can Dance. In attendance in the roundtable discussion were BuddyTV‘s own John Kubicek, Dave Lake from MSN TV and Daniel Malen of TheTVAddict.com.Below, you will find an audiofile and a complete transcript of the interview. Read more »
I don‘t know if it‘s because I‘ve come to have such high expectations from the four remaining dancers on this season‘s So You Think You Can Dance, but I have to say that I was just the tiniest bit underwhelmed with tonight‘s final performance show. Is it me, or have the final performances from previous seasons of So You Think You Can Dance been way more impressive? Maybe I‘m just remembering wrong. But really, it‘s all good. I still love all four remaining dancers. They still work incredibly hard. They all had an extremely challenging night tonight, each one dancing a routine with each of the others, plus a solo, plus a final group performance. It‘s no wonder that they looked exhausted tonight. Read on to see how I ranked all the performances. Read more »
I‘m so incredibly excited for tonight‘s Final Four performance show.  We‘ve got four incredibly talented dancers who, I am positive, will bring out the big guns tonight and show us their most impressive routines yet.Who are you pulling for?  The nearly flawless Katee who has had a virtually perfect season thus far?  Or her long time friend Twitch, possibly the least formally trained dancer of the season, but one who has showed enormous potential?  Or how about Josh, he of the cute butt and amazing technical ability?  Personally, I‘m all for Courtney, the most improved dancer of the top 20.I‘ll be here for the next two hours with my live thoughts.  Feel free to keep me company by posting your thoughts too! Read more »
I know, as well as anyone, that there‘s an excellent chance that Josh and Katee will be the last two standing on tonight‘s season 4 finale of So You Think You Can Dance.  It will pretty impressive if they are since a couple that started out the season together has never made it all the way to the finale together.  It‘s also impressive since the pair had a lot to overcome when they headed into the Top 20.  Katee needed to redeem herself after telling the judges, in Vegas, that she would not try out if she didn‘t make it.  The judges, especially Mia Michaels, saw her as a person who would easily throw in the towel if she didn‘t get her way.  Josh has been deemed the "untrained dancer" this season (even though that‘s not necessarily true) and had to pick up styles of dance he was very unfamiliar with.  I know that that they‘ve both performed brilliantly this season.  I‘m just rooting for the underdogs - and I don‘t think I‘m alone here! Read more »
Oh, Mary Murphy. Can there be a more divisive figure in the world of televised dance? This shrieking banshee of a judge on So You Think You Can Dance, herself an accomplished dancer and choreographer, can either be taken as completely insane or brilliant. Or both. Whatever the case may be, she and her hot tamale train have become staples on this show. It just wouldn‘t feel the same not to hear her screaming after an amazing performance. After the taping of last night‘s final performance show, Mary Murphy sat down with BuddyTV‘s John Kubicek, Dave Lake from MSN TV and Daniel Malen of TheTVAddict.com to discuss this new crop of finalists. Also, in the interview, Mary gives further clues about which So You Think You Can Dance judge or judges will possibly be hitting the dance floor on tonight‘s season finale, which Cat Deeley alluded to in her interview yesterday.Below, you will find an audiofile and a complete transcript of the interview. Read more »
The night that we have been waiting for all summer long is finally upon us.  To quote Mary Murphy, "Whooooooo!!!!!"I don‘t know about you, but I have a feeling that tonight‘s two-hour show is going to be great.  Last night may have been a bit of a let down, but tonight, they are bringing back the eliminated dancers to perform all of our favorite routines from the season.  That‘s what I‘m excited for.  Oh yeah, and also, we‘ll find out who wins!Stay with me tonight as I sit here, watching and writing my thoughts.  Post your own too! Read more »
The long journey came to a close tonight on So You Think You Can Dance. The final four dancers, Joshua Allen, Twitch Boss, Courtney Galiano and Katee Shean came back tonight to find out which of them has won the title of America‘s Favorite Dancer plus a pot of $250,000.To keep them company and to entertain us all at home for the two-hour broadcast, the rest of the top 20 dancers came back, many of them to reprise some of the judges‘ favorite routines. (Unfortunately, Jessica King was not in attendance tonight, likely due to her injury.) Along with these encore performances, there were many guest performers as well. This was by far the most entertaining episode of the entire season. I know rationally that it lasted two hours, but I didn‘t even notice the time going by. It was that entertaining. Read on to see what happened. Read more »
So You Think You Can Dance fans were not surprised when Courtney Galiano finished 4th in last night‘s finale.  The young dancer gave everything she had in this competition, dancing with heart and passion.  Her personality came through in all of her videos and interviews, forming her a very strong fan base this season.  All the heart in the world, though, couldn‘t push her past Josh, Katee, and Twitch but she left the show with no regrets and feeling very proud of herself.  Next, it seemed that one of the male dancers would be headed home and many felt it would be Twitch.  Josh and Katee seemed the frontrunners to be the final two standing but when Cat told Katee that she had been eliminated and would finish the competition in 3rd place, the shock in the room was evident.  How did Katee end up missing out on placing Top 2?  The answer may be more simple than you think! Read more »
It was hard for Joshua Allen to hide the shock on his face when he was declared the winner of last night‘s season finale of So You Think You Can Dance.  A mostly untrained dancer, he went up against people who dedicated their lives to training for a competition like this.  Josh, though, defied the odds and prevailed in the end.  Paired with Katee Shean early in the season, the two broke away from the pack and established themselves as frontrunners on the very first night of performances.  Since then, he has gone on to impress in just about every style of dance and performed several entertaining solos.  He was a dancer that America could get behind and last night, he found out that, after 60 million votes, he had won season 4 of So You Think You Can Dance!  Today, he took time out of busy schedule to talk to BuddyTV in an exclusive interview.Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »
It was quite a shock to So You Think You Can Dance fans on last week‘s finale when Katee Shean finished in 3rd place.  Perhaps the only thing that made die hard Katee fans feel better was that, as the final female standing, she walked away with $50,000.  Practically flawless this season, Katee performed countless memorable routines and received endless amounts of praise from the judges.  All the praise in the world couldn‘t take her to final 2 though, and she left just short of her goal.  Today, she spoke to BuddyTV in an exclusive interview and addressed everything from her breakdown in Vegas to reading what her fans say about her online.Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »
Courtney Galiano may have surprised a lot of people this season on So You Think You Can Dance, but the person she ended up surprising the most was herself.  This was the first year that Courtney was old enough to try out for though she had high hopes, she kept her expectations realistic.  Yet, she achieved a new goal week after week, getting a ticket to Vegas, making Top 20, making Top 10, and finally, making it all the way to Top 4 before being eliminated in the season finale.  Courtney was praised by Mary Murphy for being an inspiration to young girls and Nigel Lythgoe loved her endless amount of spirit both on and off the stage. She left the show with no regrets and today, spoke to BuddyTV in an exclusive interview about her time on the show.Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »
A few weeks before the season finale of So You Think You Can Dance, I posed this question to Comfort Fedoke: Is it possible for a hip hop dancer to win this thing?  Not only was it possible but Twitch Boss and Joshua Allen, both hip hop dancers, were the last two standing.  Josh may have been crowned the winner but Twitch will be just as well known.  He came into this season with a built in fan base, after losing the last spot in Vegas last year to Hok Konishi.  Twitch left the show with no regrets and proud of the way that he represented hip hop.  Today, he spoke to BuddyTV in an exclusive interview.Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »

This summer, Joshua Allen became the first hip hop contestant to win the title of America’s Favorite Dancer on FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance. Joshua was hailed by the judges all season long for continuously performing beyond their expectations, as he was virtually an untrained dancer. He had taken some classes as a child only did a small fraction of the training his competitors did leading up to the show. For fans of the show, Joshua seemed like a natural choice to win this season: he had great partners, great routines, he performed consistently well each week, and he was very humble and likable. What fans don’t know is that, due to a family tragedy, Joshua almost didn’t make it to So You Think You Can Dance this year. Read more »
I don‘t know much about dance, but based on my knowledge of reality shows, I can only assume that the dance world is very small. This might be surprising given the shear volume of dance shows on TV. 2008 has already seen at least a half dozen different reality competition shows exclusively about dancing, but the overlap and interconnectedness of talent in terms of judges, hosts and contestants is rather astounding. This realization finally crystallized in my mind when I noticed that the new cast of Dancing with the Stars features three sets of related professional dancers. When the pairs of Dancing With The Stars were first announced this season, it seemed that Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer would easily sail to the finale but the road there has not been easy thus far. The judges have come down hard on them, particularly Len, for not sticking to traditional ballroom while tabloids have thrust Lacey’s weight (and Cheryl Burke’s) into the spotlight, sparking heated debates. The show runs the contestants at a constant, strenuous pace so every now and then, it must be nice to sit down, relax, and have a little fun. This week, Lance and Lacey interviewed each other for Entertainment Tonight and we learned more about the pair than ever before. Read on to find out what they had to say! Read more »
