Check out the rest of our coverage from San Diego Comic-Con.
You don't often get to see Green Arrow shake hands with Batman without flipping open a comic book, but that was exactly what happened as today's Smallville Comic-Con panel came to a close. The final fan to stand up during the Q&A session was dressed up as the Dark Knight, and his question was, "When am I going to be on the show?" Showrunners Kelly Souders, Todd Slavkin, Darren Swimmer and Brian Peterson didn't have an answer for the man, so instead he went up to the stage, shook hands with Justin Hartley and started posing for photos. It was a hilarious end to a very entertaining panel, which also featured Allison Mack alongside new cast members Sam Witwer and Cassidy Freeman.
Before Batman took over the panel, the Smallville execs showed glimpses of season 8, and also revealed that one cast member will soon be directing an episode.

Last week, I wrote a spoiler-filled article discussing the possibility of Chloe and Jimmy getting married when Smallville returns for its eighth season in September. Though I'm a fan of the couple, I was surprised to discover that many Smallville fans would like to banish the "Chimmey" pairing to the Phantom Zone. Chloe is a rather divisive character in the fan base, with some finding her essential to the show and others finding her a saintly annoyance who's given too much screen time.
Whether you love her or hate her, there's no denying that Chloe will continue to be an important part of the series throughout the next season. TV Guide recently sat down with new showrunner Darren Swimmer to find out what awaits the character in season 8, as well as what's in store for Clark (Tom Welling) now that Lana and Lex have moved on.

The finale of Smallville's seventh season was jam-packed with a lot of cliffhangers, and surprisingly not one of them involved Chloe being presumed dead. Instead, everyone's favorite computer genius was arrested by the Department of Domestic Security after Lex turned her in for hacking into government databases. In a supreme case of bad timing, Jimmy proposed to Chloe (Allison Mack) right before the agents burst in, then was left hanging without an answer as she was dragged off in handcuffs. It was a potentially romantic moment gone horribly awry.
Though fans still have months to wait before Smallville's eighth season premiere, Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello recently revealed what's in store for Chloe's love life. Read on if you want to know how she responds to Jimmy's proposal.

When it was announced that Justin Hartley would be joining the cast of Smallville for its eighth season, fans wondered if appearances from other members of Green Arrow's Justice League could be in the near future. After all, with Clark buried within the Fortress of Solitude at the end of season 7, someone has to step up to the plate to keep the world safe. According to TV Guide, Black Canary, Aquaman and Martian Manhunter will all be returning in the season opener to team up with Oliver Queen. Their mission? To rescue Clark Kent.

As Smallville moves into its eighth and possibly final season, it faces many changes that will either revitalize the show or alienate loyal viewers. Michael Rosenbaum, Kristin Kreuk and Laura Vandervoort will no longer be series regulars, creators Al Gough and Miles Millar have moved on to other projects, Justin Hartley is joining the cast as Green Arrow, and two new villains will be causing trouble for Clark. For those fans who are worried about the direction of the show or simply must know what happens next, we have some exciting spoilers for Smallville season 8.

With Lionel Luthor six feet under and Lex buried within the Fortress of Solitude, it was obvious Smallville was going to need some dastardly new villains in season 8. A couple months ago it was announced that famous Superman baddie Doomsday would be wreaking havoc on the series, as well as a sexy, evil seductress named Tess. While the latter seemed easy enough to cast, I wondered what the producers had planned for the massive, Hulk-like Doomsday character. Would they cast a giant American Gladiators reject, or simply rewrite Doomsday's origin and fill the role with a dreamy twentysomething actor?
Today I have an answer to my question, as scoop-master Michael Ausiello recently got word on who's been cast in these two roles. If you were hoping that the producers of Smallville would stick to the comic books, prepare to be outraged.
