Scrubs: After Michael J. Fox, It's Courtney Cox

CoxAfter rumors that Michael J. Fox is in talks with Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence to reprise his role on the ABC comedy, another face fans are very familiar with is joining the fun at Sacred Heart.  Entertainment Weekly reports that Friends alumna Courtney Cox is joining the cast of Scrubs for a three-episode arc.  She will supposedly play as Sacred Heart's new Chief of Medicine, a role which, according to the insider, will “ruffle feathers.”

Meanwhile, this is certainly news for Cox after Dirt was canceled after two seasons due to negative reviews.  Fans have already commented on the soundness of this move for Cox, as it will allow her to showcase what she is best known for: comedy.

Michael J. Fox to Join 'Rescue Me' and 'Scrubs'?

FoxVeteran actor Michael J. Fox is supposedly close to inking a contract with FX's Rescue Me for a multi-episode arc.  Entertainment Weekly reports that the former Spin City and Back to the Future star is considering a role in the firefighter comedy drama as the love interest of Janet, played by Andrea Roth, Denis Leary's ex.  Fox is reportedly seriously thinking about it, as he and Leary are longtime friends.  If this pushes through, however, fans have to wait a teeny bit as Rescue Me won't be back until March next year.

Meanwhile, according to E! Online, Fox, who is also renowned for battling Parkinson's Disease, is also in talks with creator Bill Lawrence to reprise his role on the ABC comedy Scrubs.  Now the two, Fox and Lawrence, go way back with Spin City, which Lawrence co-created. Fox's last appearance on the show was in 2004 for two episodes.

The eighth season of Scrubs, which serves as a midseason replacement on ABC, will reportedly have three new interns to torture for Dr. Cox.  The injection of new blood is said to be part of an ambitious plan to return the show to its more drama-filled roots.

'Scrubs' Creator Breaks His Silence on What Led to His Break-Up with NBC

scrubsABC has officially taken Scrubs under its wing, leaving fans with a sense of relief in knowing that the show they have loved for seven years can properly bid farewell in style.  But before the dramedy moved into its new quarters, it was, for a long time, in the custody of NBC. Seeing that the series has pulled better ratings than 30 Rock and My Name is Earl, it's difficult to imagine what led Scrubs to break-up with NBC and what prompted the show to look for a new home.

The cast and crew of Scrubs have been tightlipped in response to inquiries about the move.  But now that the network shift has been officially announced, show creator Bill Lawrence intends to break his silence.
