Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious Season Finale Predictions

April 22, 2008

Wednesday night is the season finale of Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious. Fifteen girls started in this competition to form a girl group trio, and judges Robin Antin, Ron Fair and Lil Kim have worked their way down to the final five.

The final five girls are Tiffanie, the sassy girl with the strong personality and all-around talent; Nichole, the quiet blonde who's performed consistently throughout the show but who has also been told by the judges she needs to break out even more; Natalie, who was rated the most popular in an early challenge to see who young girl fans would like the best, but who also has struggled with some elements of performing; Charlye, who has been a strong performer onstage for much of the competition, but whose attitude has become more of an issue lately; and Chrystina, who the judges agree has some kind of magnetic allure but whose performance and attitude ups and downs have dogged her throughout the competition.

So what could happen tomorrow on Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious?

Pussycat Dolls Girlicious: Episode 8 Most and Least Girlicious

April 17, 2008

While I've been somewhat annoyed with the producers of Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious for some of the more obviously-manipulated elements of the show, I will concede they have a tough job as the show nears its conclusion.

Unlike a show where only one winner emerges, Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious will have three. So the thing that helps generate drama – tension between the girls – is also the thing that could hinder the audience's excitement at the group finally coming together at the end. Ultimately, we do want the girls to be a team together, and so while they need the friction now, they also need it to be hurriedly resolved by the end. And they need the girls to not become so unlikable through the conflict that we stop caring about whether or not they get there.

Pussycat Dolls Present Girlicious: Episode 8 "Public Image" Recap

April 16, 2008

Chrystina, Natalie, NicholeLast week on Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious, the girls had to prove that they had star quality while gyrating in a music video on a swanky yacht.  Robin Antin decided to send Carrie home for being too vocally gifted for the competition.  You see, having strong rocker vocals would make her stand out among the other girls, and we can't have anyone standing out in Girlicious.  They must blend together like a delicious smoothie.  A smoothie that can look great in stripper clothes.

On tonight's episode, Mark McGrath tests the five remaining girls on their ability to convincingly lie to the press.  Who is going to leave the studio without a pink feather boa tonight?

Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious: Episode 8 Predictions

April 15, 2008

In last week's Most and Least Girlicious article, I couldn't help myself and placed my bet as to who I think will ultimately be the last three girls standing in the race to be the girl group formed by Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious.

Nothing has changed in my thinking since then, so I will stick by my ultimate picks. I will, however, make some guesses as to who will be going home this episode, and who will be sticking around for at least one more.

Exclusive Interview: Carrie of 'Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious'

April 10, 2008

CarrieCarrie was one of the more vocally impressive contestants on Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious, but creator Robin Antin has continuously reminded us that it takes more than a great voice to make it into the group.  She's looking for girls who can sing, dance, and also blend together into a cohesive whole.  This week the judges decided that Carrie stood out too much with her rocker girl edge, and it was finally time for her to have her feather boa taken away.

Today we had a chance to sit down with Carrie to discuss her elimination, her future plans, and why she missed so much of the drama in the loft.  Read on for the mp3 and complete transcript of the interview.

Pussycat Dolls Girlicious: Episode 7 Most and Least Girlicious

April 10, 2008

Last night on Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious, the ranks shrank again. With the departure of “Rock Star” Carrie, we're now down to five girls competing to make part of “music history” according to judge and creator Robin Antin.

Excuse me for a minute while I collapse in giggles.

Okay, sorry, I've collected myself. It was just the idea of this show leading to a group that would make “music history” in anything other than the “Well, they have a Wikipedia page for posterity” sense suddenly seemed irresistibly comic.

So of the remaining five contestants on Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious, I feel like I can make the call now as to who will ultimately be in Girlicious. Dare I be so bold?! I'm going to try. I'm calling it now…I'm going out on a limb and guessing that my picks this week for Most Girlicious will also end up in the final group.

Pussycat Dolls Present Girlicious: Episode 7 "Star Quality" Recap

April 9, 2008

NatalieI'm sure many of you were crying into your feather boas when Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious was nothing but a clip show last week.  It feels like it's been ages since Robin Antin has forced the girls to shimmy and shake to booty-busting pop hits, so let me remind you what happened on the last original episode:  After being edited to appear like a lazy girl who sits around eating junk food all the time, Jenna was sent home.  According to the judges, she had decent vocals, but just didn't have the right vibe for Girlicious.

Tonight's episode finds the remaining contestants being tested on their ability to connect with the camera.  Which unlucky girl will have her boa taken away this time?
