This talent started at an early age with the encouragement of his father who was a policeman. Shawn begins to advise the local police department on cases, and they regard him as someone with psychic abilities, which is of course built upon his amazing memory to details. NBC Takes Out 'Monk' and 'Psych'

psychNBC has decided to pull out Sunday night repeats of Monk and Psych, television shows that are originally broadcast on the USA Network.  According to an updated schedule released by the network, the two shows will be replaced by a two-hour block of The Office, at least for the next two weekends.

The switch, which isn't that surprising given that both Monk and Psych didn't post good numbers, brings to a close NBC Universal's strike-era programming stunt of giving USA Network's top-rated series a shot on the broadcast network.

Cybill Shepherd Joins the Cast of 'Psych'

psychThe coveted role of fake psychic Shawn Spencer's mom has finally been cast.  Cybill Shepherd, known for her Moonlighting days as P.I. Madolyn "Maddie" Hayes, has signed on to play the character for a mutli-episode arc on USA Network's Psych.

Returning with new episodes on July 18, Psych stars James Roday as young police consultant Shawn Spencer, whose "heightened observational skills" and impressive detective instincts allow him to convince people that he is psychic.  The show also features Dulé Hill as Shawn's best friend, straight man and reluctant partner Gus, as well as Corbin Bernsen as Shawn's captious father, Henry.

Monk, Psych to Make the Move from USA to NBC in March

NBC, the network in the worst shape going into the writers in regards to quantity of available original content, are bringing two of their cable series up to the big leagues.  USA, a member of the ever-expanding NBC Universal clan, will see both Monk and Psych move from the relative anonymity of basic cable to network television in March 2008.  The series will air on NBC Sunday nights.  Both Monk and Psych will be airing original episodes on USA beginning this January.  Those new episodes will the be re-purposed for NBC and re-aired on the mother network beginning in March. 

'Psych' Holiday Episode Preview and Spoilers

Psych holiday episode Although USA Network's Psych is scheduled to resume its second season in January, fans will be delighted to know that the cable channel is airing a special holiday episode tonight.

According to the show's website, the episode, “Gus' Dad May Have Killed an Old Guy,” has the Guster family gathering for the holiday season.  However, the joyous occasion hits a snag when police tie Gus' (Dule Hill) father (guest star Ernie Hudson) to a murder case.

Phylicia Rashad (The Cosby Show) guest appears as Gus' mother.

'Psych' Midseason Finale Airs Tonight

When an accused murderer goes on the run, America's favorite pseudo psychic, Shawn Spencer, and his best friend, Burton “Gus” Guster, decide to go after the fugitive themselves.  Along the way, they meet their toughest competition, an actual bounty hunter whom they once idolized.  Things get more complicated for the two when Shawn realizes the man they have been chasing is innocent of the crime.
