'Project Runway' Needs Boost?

May 28, 2009

Perhaps it's safe to say that Project Runway, with the flurry of lawsuits between The Weinstein Company, NBC Universal and Lifetime, and the resulting move to Lifetime, was one of the more embattled series of the last season.  While production has wrapped up for the show's sixth season, it won't debut until August 20.

"After five seasons, the show needed a booster shot," mentor and fashion guru Tim Gunn says.

Fashion Continues to Take Reality TV by Storm

May 14, 2009

Fashion and Reality Television have formed a special bond over the past television seasons. America's Next Top Model just finished cycle 12, Project Runway will be airing its sixth season later this year. TLC, Bravo and Oxygen have dominated our fashion-centric television for years. So how do we navigate our way through the fashion genre?

We've put together a list of fashion-centric television that might strike your interest. Within the list, we discuss the type, description and "watchability" of each show to help you better navigate the fashion realm. We've limited to reality TV sorts of fashion shows because including Gossip Girl, American Idol (they have talked about fashion a lot more this season, haven't they?) and other quality primetime programming would just get too confusing.

'Project Runway' Season 6 Details from Tim Gunn

April 28, 2009

As Project Runway is poised for an August 20 premiere, finally escaping the legal limbo it found itself in the past months, series mentor Tim Gunn says Project Runway fans should expect something shocking on the show's sixth season.

"It's a great season.  I'll say there's a big-time shocker, some purported cheating ...  The blogs will be clogged. They won't be able to vent enough about it."

'Project Runway' Sets Lifetime Premiere Date

April 23, 2009

This summer, catch Emmy-nominated and Peabody Award-winning series Project Runway as it makes its way over to the Lifetime network with an all-new season.  Set to premiere on August 20, the series will bring back host Heidi Klum, mentor Tim Gunn, judges Michael Kors and Nina Garcia, as well as a pack of new designers set to take over the fashion industry.

"I am a huge fan of Project Runway and could not be happier that Season Six will be premiering on Lifetime, the #1 network for women," declared Andrea Wong, President and CEO, Lifetime Networks.  "The talent in this all-new season is nothing short of amazing, and I can't wait for all of the fans to see the incredible work of these brilliant designers."

After being stalled for some five months or so, the sixth season of Project Runway may finally be on its way, after warring camps NBC Universal and Lifetime have resolved their differences and agreed on terms.

'Project Runway' 5 Winner Takes on the Kenley Collins Cat-astrophe

March 24, 2009

We're hoping one catfight won't lead to another.  Last week, Kenley Collins, one of Project Runway's most hated finalists, was put behind bars for throwing a living cat towards her ex-fiancé, Zak Penley.  Now, season 5 winner LeAnne Marshall commented on the issue, answering the question a lot of people ask: was Kenley really so awful, or was it just pure editing?

On an interview with The New York Post, Marshall said: “When she got angry, I knew to keep my distance. Clearly, she needs therapy.”  Despite displays of Collins' rage on camera and on the set, there were no accounts of her being violent during her stay on Project Runway.  However, recent events suggest that she was truly capable of physically assaulting those around her.
