Based on the experiences of a real-life behavioral scientist, the show focuses on the deception expert Dr. Cal Lightman (Tim Roth). Using his talents in reading body language, he assists the FBI, the local police, corporations, law firms, and even individuals in unmasking the falsehoods surrounding them. Lie to Me follows his exploits as he exposes every pang of honesty deeply embedded on each persons face. For Dr. Lightman, the truth is a matter of movement. Every raised lower lip or shrug of a shoulder tells him something, enabling him to uncover hidden feelings of people. Lightman knows this helps others, but its no boon to his personal life. The show, which is similar to Lifetimes Angelas Eyes, is based on the real-life scientific discoveries of Dr. Paul Ekman, a notable psychologist and expert on body language and facial expressions. On the series, the 47-year-old actor plays Dr. Cal Lightman, the worlds leading deception expert who examines facial expressions and involuntary body language to determine if someones lying. At first glimpse, FOXs Lie to Me appears to have a similar premise to CBS The Mentalist. Thats because both series revolves around a main character that makes use of his powers of observation to uncover the truth and solve crimes. But theres a big difference between the two and executive producer Brian Grazer reveals the answer."Im not really interested in The Mentalists process," Grazer told TV Guide. "I mean it might be good — I mean I think it is good, its doing really well — [but] Im actually interested in whether people are telling the truth."

The 13th and finale episode of Foxs rookie series Lie to Me will air tonight, and the case will take the group to the nations capital. On "Sacrifice," the FBI asks the Lightman Group to investigate a terrorist bombing outside Washington, D.C. The freshman detective drama, meanwhile, reeled in its biggest numbers in week after it registered a 2.7 rating in the all-important 18-49 demo - 8.7 million viewers all in all - and a 17 percent jump in the adult demographic. Its impressive 12.37 million pilot numbers, however, continued to dwindle en route to the 8.7 mil in the last episode.

Today FOX officially announced its schedule for the 2009-2010 TV season, and some of the changes are huge. Aside from the great news that Dollhouse will be coming back for a second season, the other big story is that So You Think You Can Dance, which premieres its fifth season this Thursday, will air in the Fall as well for an immediate sixth season.The So You Think You Can Dance move is unusual, but helps to balance out the schedule since FOX has American Idol in the Spring. It also gives FOX the chance to do direct competition with Dancing with the Stars, a show that in recent seasons has taken several professional from former SYTYCD contestants.More Fall Lineups:FOXABCNBCCBSThe CW
