This fall, Law & Order: Criminal Intent will be returning with a new cast member. As a temporary replacement for Julianne Nicholson, who is on maternity leave, actress Alicia Witt will be gracing the show as police detective Nola Falacci. The move is part of a trend that will hopefully bring in stronger female characters on the upcoming storylines.
While there is no word yet on what will happen to Nicholson’s character, Detective Megan Wheeler, upon the return of the police drama, Alicia Witt’s character is reportedly drafted as a partner for Detective Mike Logan (Chris North).

Actress Julianne Nicholson joined the cast of of Law and Order: Criminal Intent this season as Detective Megan Wheeler. Julianne has had a prolific career in both TV and film, appearing in Ally McBeal, Law & Order, ER and various others. Julianne stopped by to talk with us at BuddyTV last week. We discussed her start in acting, her time on Law & Order: CI, and what she has coming up in the future.
Can you tell us a little bit about how you got into acting? Was it something you always wanted to do?
Sure. It was something that I had wanted to do since I was very young, like 7 or 8 years old. But I didn’t actually start taking acting classes until I was 24. Where I grew up, it just seemed so far away and another world, I just didn’t think that I would be able to do that. And then moving to New York helped. I moved to New York when I was 18 and went to Hunter College and did some modeling and worked in restaurants and kicked around here for a while and in that time had met a number of people who were actors in varying stages of their careers and got hooked up with an acting teacher here in New York and studied with her for 2 years. And that was sort of my intro into the world. So it took about, you know, 20 years, but I got in it!

Finally.
After a month of holidays, egg nog, and more Snoopy and Ralphie Parker than one knows what to do with, we're finally back to normal. January is upon us, 2007 has begun its tyrannical, 300-plus day reign, and our favorite TV shows will no longer bludgeon us with repeats. Tomorrow, January 3rd, brings the return of a couple of our favorites, as well as two brand new shows.
After that, the flood begins, and over the next month virtually every original program will air new episodes. A full list of the returning dates for most every show on television is after the jump.

It's black and orange day! Candy, suspicious apples, and frenzied midgets in bizarre head dress. And that can only mean one thing: Halloween themed prime time dramas. I gotta admit, I'm a little disappointed by the sheer lack of participation this year! Why couldn't Halloween have come on a comedy night... those guys seem to really know how to get their spook on, a Halloween episode of "
The Office" would surely have been fab. Click on to see who has the Halloween spirit.

Law & Order: Criminal Intent
The Fredo of the Law & Order franchise, Criminal Intent is a dyed in the wool procedural that brings absolutely nothing new to the table in terms of content. Of course, Vincent D'Onofrio is great and the show has it's following, but I just don't see the need to stretch out these franchises. Ratings, I suppose, would be the reason, but how many shows a week do Law & Order fanatics need?
