Dennis Farina, who starred as Det. Joe Fontana on Law & Order from 2002 to 2006, was booked in a felony case after a loaded handgun was found in his briefcase as he was about to board a plane at the Los Angeles International Airport on Sunday. Unlike his police character on the NBC long-running series, the 64-year-old actor had no permit to carry the pistol.
While Farina was often depicted onscreen as a foul-mouthed mobster or cop, he was remorseful when he told airport police and FBI agents that he had forgotten he put the .22-caliber semi-automatic weapon in the case. The actor spent most of the day in a Van Nuys jail and was released Sunday night on $35,000 bail.

Tonight's Law & Order will be a bittersweet offering as the 18-year old series welcomes a new addition, while bidding farewell to a much-loved veteran. Yes, this evening's installment entitled “Burn Card” marks the final appearance of Jesse L. Martin, who has portrayed Detective Ed Green for the past nine seasons.
As the saying goes, when one door closes, another one opens. In the case of the long-running first and original Law & Order, Martin's departure also heralds the entry of Anthony Anderson, coming in as Internal Affairs detective, Kevin Bernard.

Law & Order has experienced a lot of cast shake-ups in its 18 seasons on the air, but that's to be expected when a show has been chugging on since the dawn of time. I think dinosaurs were still roaming the planet when Law & Order's pilot episode aired. Anyway, fans will soon be in for another period of mourning and adjustment, as it was announced today that series star Jesse L. Martin will be leaving the show after nine years. He'll be replaced by Anthony Anderson, who some people might remember from his stints on The Shield and K-Ville. Oddly enough, Anderson played a detective on one episode of Law & Order: SVU in 2006, though it's unknown if he'll be playing the same character.

On television, there appears to be a gender bias when it comes to the portrayal of homosexuality. While gay men are catty best friends and deeply dramatic teens, lesbians are much rarer, unless you only count Showtime's The L Word. Why this is we're not quite sure, all we know is this: we love lesbians.
Going back through the years, we put together a list of our five favorite TV lesbians. These aren't the most socially important or famous like Ellen DeGeneres. Instead, we thought long and hard about the TV lesbians we loved to watch, the ones we fell in love with, and the ones who made us laugh out loud.

Last week marked Law & Order's first regular episode of its current 18th season. When the long-running series opened its 18th year two weeks ago, NBC aired a special two-hour premiere episode.
Tonight's episode features a pair of actors who have also made names for themselves as Broadway thespians. According to Playbill, the next couple of weeks will see several stage performers take turns on the original Law & Order series from creator Dick Wolf.

Back in July of last year, we reported that actor, Linus Roache, was joining Law & Order as the new Executive Assistant District Attorney (EADA). His baptismal of fire came last week when the long-running flag bearer of the Law & Order franchise returned to television.
Now on its 18th season, Law & Order kicked off via a special two-hour premiere last Wednesday. Tonight, it resumes its original time slot at 10pm. For the British Roache, it took doing a bit of homework in order to familiarize himself with the show and the city it calls home.

Law and Order is back from the dead. It was never really dead, I know, but after a full season of banishment into a dreaded Friday night time slot, and another half of the year completely off the air, it kind of felt like Law & Order was gone for good. Thankfully for fans of the ageless procedural, Law & Order is returning to air waves for its eighteenth season on Wednesday, January 2 for a two hour premiere. The following week, Law & Order will settle back into its long time Wednesday 10pm ET/PT time slot. Starting on that Wednesday, January 9, Law and Order: Criminal Intent will act as the original L&O's lead in, airing at 9pm. Criminal Intent had been banished to the purgatory of basic cable on the USA Network, where new episodes have been airing. NBC will start from the beginning of Criminal Intent's new season, and re-air the episodes on NBC.

Law & Order has just hired a new prosecutor. As we reported earlier, the legal drama will be returning for a new season with Sam Waterston's character, Jack McCoy, taking the place of Fred Thompson's character, Arthur Branch, as District Attorney. This consequently leads to an available position for a new Executive Assistant District Attorney. But before Law & Order even hits the air, actor Linus Roache has already been added to fill in the vacancy.
"I've known Linus' work for several years. He is an actor who totally gets inside his roles. I think he and Sam are going to raise the bar and add intellect and passion in the back half of the show," NBC, Universal Media Studios and executive producer Dick Wolf announced.
