The newest effort from Disney might be getting a lot of attention from tweens, but it certainly can‘t match the numbers of Hannah Montana.  Premiering recently, J.O.N.A.S. raked in 4 million total viewers for its 8pm Saturday premiere.  Audiences switched on their screens to ogle the pop trio‘s new comedy, which earned the network its best ratings in the half hour in the past eight months. While J.O.N.A.S. fared spectacularly, new episodes of the comedy featuring Miley Cyrus topped all that.  Hannah Montana surpassed their show, especially in the kids aged 6-11 demographic.  It managed to obtain 2.0 million viewers in that category, while J.O.N.A.S. only got 1.6 million.  Read more »

The Teen Choice Awards just announced their massive list of nominees for this years award show, and you will NEVER guess which movie is dominating the nominations. The Reader! I know, all of a sudden the teens are all into dramatic Post-World War II love stories and mystery. Oh, who am I kidding? Of course it is Twilight who is dominating the Teen Choice Awards, with 12 nominations. By all accounts the Teen Choice Awards should be a repeat of the MTV Movie Awards, where the teen vampire tale handily bested other tween favorites such as High School Musical. But the Teen Choice Awards isn‘t going to be all-Twilight-all-the-time, High School Musical, Miley Cyrus, and Gossip Girl also each scored 10 nominations. No big shockers there, though it will be shocking if any of them manage to wrestle one of those coveted surfboards from Twilight‘s fangs. The hosts of this years Teen Choice Awards, The Jonas Brothers, will be doing double duty that night--they‘re nominated for seven surfboards.  Read more »

So if you weren‘t jealous enough, Kevin actually co-designed the ring with Jacob & Co.. Kevin popped the question right on her doorstep earlier this morning. In our least favorite rumor of 2010, word on the web is Howard Stern might replace Simon Cowell on American Idol. There are about, ohlets see, 6 billion people we‘d rather see replace Simon than HowardStern. And I‘m pretty sure the censors at FOX feel the same way.Since 6 billion is a pretty hefty list, we‘ve narrowed it down to fivefolks we‘d much rather see take Simon‘s place at the judge‘s table than America‘s most notorious shock jock.  Read more »
Back in June, I was talking to a friend of mine who live in Dallas. She‘s the sort who uploads YouTube videos of herself singing. I told her American Idol will be holding auditions where she is, and encouraged her to join, since she‘s long wished to be part of the show. Unfortunately, she didn‘t join--she joined the Navy instead. I guess that means I won‘t be watching the show tonight, anticipating someone I know to pop up.Texas has been home to a lot of talent, and I‘m not just thinking of country icons and all those indie bands in Austin. Idol has held auditions here twice before, and its biggest discoveries are not like each other. Season 7‘s Jason Castro has gone the folky route. And, of course, we all know what happened to the show‘s very first winner, Kelly Clarkson. Of course, you can expect the show to drop Kelly‘s name and ask whether we‘ll see another one of her sort in Dallas this year. Don‘t act so surprised when that happens, please. Thank you.  Read more »
After every episode, we assess how American Idol‘s guest judges have fared. Towards the end, we‘ll see if they did Paula Abdul‘s old slot justice. Or the show justice. Or Simon Cowell‘s soon-to-be-vacated slot justice. You get the idea. And, in case you haven‘t noticed, we‘re merging two report cards today into one. We think you know why.  Read more »
