The writers' strike that crippled Hollywood for many months was certainly painful for everybody in the industry, but Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon put his time off to good use. Whedon spent his time writing and directing a 42 minute "Internet miniseries event" entitled Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. The production, which is an elaborate musical about a wannabe supervillain who longs to rule the world, stars Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother) as the title character, along with Nathan Fillion (Firefly) as his nemesis and Felicia Day (who played potential slayer Vi in Buffy season 7) as the girl he covets.
Read on for news about where you can catch Dr. Horrible, as well as a sneak peek at the exciting trailer.

No one has ever benefited from being on a family sitcom more than Bob Saget. Saget, a comedian of the raunchy variety, somehow acquired the role of Danny Tanner on Full House in 1987, became the host of America's Funniest Home Videos soon after, and the rest is history. He's always been a racy comedian at heart, but the general public was more or less unaware of this fact until The Aristocrats, a hilarious 2005 documentary featuring comedians telling different versions of an age-old joke, where Bob Saget gave perhaps the raunchiest version of an already devastatingly raunchy joke, was released. The inherent shock factor of people learning that good ol' Danny Tanner was, in fact, a dirty middle-aged man made Saget relevant again, even garnering Saget an HBO comedy special. Comedy Central announced today that Bob Saget will be the latest person to get roasted on the network, following in the footsteps of Pamela Anderson, Flavor Flav and William Shatner. The Comedy Central Roast of Bob Saget will be taped in Los Angeles and air on Comedy Central August 17.

When we last saw How I Met Your Mother, Marshall and Lily decided to move out on their own, falling in love with a place they can't really afford. Despite Lily's bad credit rating due to her compulsive shopping (particularly for shoes and boots), they were able to finally score their dream apartment. Unfortunately, they soon found out that the apartment is crooked and that the neighborhood is next to a sewage treatment plant.
So what obstacles await Marshall and Lily next season? In an interview with TV Guide, Alyson Hannigan, who plays kindergarten teacher and amateur painter Lily on How I Met Your Mother, hints on what's in store for her character on the fifth season of the CBS sitcom.

Since the beginning of How I Met Your Mother, Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris) has always been depicted as a womanizer who resolves to help Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) find a woman. But by the end of the third season, he has found himself in the most unusual situation as he falls for Ted's former love interest Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders).
Although it took almost three years before Barney and Robin finally went beyond the borders of their friendship by kissing and eventually sleeping together, producers of How I Met Your Mother have been eyeing the chemistry between the two characters since the beginning of the sitcom.

Greg Malins, who serves as the executive producer of How I Met Your Mother, has just inked a two-year deal with 20th Century Fox. This new agreement allows him to develop new ideas for the studio, while sticking with the CBS comedy series until 2010, alongside creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays.
Given the fact that he really enjoys working on How I Met Your Mother, the decision to remain with the series for at least two years wasn't at all difficult. The show, which stars Josh Radnor as Ted Mosby, who tells his son and daughter about the events that led to his meeting their mother, returns for its fourth season next fall. Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris, Alyson Hannigan and the rest of the crew of How I Met Your Mother are also scheduled to return for work on June 13.

The third season finale of How I Met Your Mother, in which Ted (Josh Radnor) got into an accident that caused him to re-evaluate his life and relationship with Stella (Sarah Chalke), has left viewers thinking that Stella may indeed be the mother of Ted's children. While fans of the show will have to “wait for it” until the next season to find out whether Stella is the answer to the query posed by the title of the series, show creator Craig Thomas has given his take on the twist that has possibly left fans mulling over the long summer.
Although the creators of How I Met Your Mother are not confirming anything, they acknowledge that Stella as the mother of Ted's children is a very real possibility. However, it all comes down to “logistics,” which complicates the whole situation.

How I Met Your Mother got a raw deal after the strike. Every show on television had to hustle back into production when the writers' strike ended, but How I Met Your Mother found itself in a unique position. CBS declined to give How I Met Your Mother a renewal until last week's upfronts, and the Mother writers were thusly forced into a nasty little corner: they had to write the remaining episodes of this season and continue the mythology of the series with the ugly possibility hanging over their heads that the season finale would be a series finale. Therefore, the story being told had to be flexible enough to either act as the series' coda or set up How I Met Your Mother for seasons to come. If you watched tonight's season finale with this in mind, then I think the ending/cliffhanger makes a lot more sense.
