Claire Danes returns to TV! She will star in Showtime‘s new drama Homeland as CIA agent Carrie Anderson, who believes that an American soldier (Damian Lewis) held as a prisoner of war and recently rescued may be involved in a terrorist scheme in the United States. Penned by 24 creator and showrunner Howard Gordon, with 24 alumni Gideon Raff and Alex Gansa, Homeland certainly shares a lot of thematic similarities with the real-time action series that had Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) rescuing the world time and time again. But, we are led to believe, this new drama will be less frantic and have more time to breathe. Kristen Bell is coming back to television! The Veronica Mars star, who followed that up with recurring roles on Heroes and Party Down, will star in the new comedy House of Lies on Showtime with Don Cheadle. Today the network officially picked up her series for a 12-episode first season.The network also ordered a new hour-long drama, Homeland, starring Temple Grandin Emmy-winner Claire Danes and Life star Damian Lewis. Criminal Minds has seen several cast changes over its seven-year run, and though MandyPatinkin was not the first actor to leave the series, his exit sent shockwaves through the fan baseand shocked his cast mates. As Jason Gideon, Patinkin was the show‘s leading man and one ofthe most well-known cast members at the start of the series. For the first two seasons, Gideonwas the wise man of the group, the one who had seen and done it all. Unfortunately, Ricky Gervais wasn‘t the high point in this year‘s Golden Globe Awards. His return to the show saw the Brit comedian‘s quips neutered, despite his best attempts to really rip the Hollywood establishment apart. Sure, there was his F-bomb, and there was his pretty good take on Natalie Portman‘s pregnancy causing a nomination drought, but it was the establishment -- Madonna and Colin Firth, specifically -- who properly ripped into Ricky.Not that I‘m a heartless guy. The Golden Globes clearly loved the new shows of 2011. For this year‘s Golden Globe Awards, 11 different shows that premiered this year scored major nominations, including Showtime‘s Homeland which scored three noms and FOX‘s New Girl which picked up two.  Read more »
