Miley Cyrus is preparing to release her new album, Breakout, on July 22nd. It will be the first time that Cyrus has released an album under her name only, without her alter ego, Hannah Montana, attached to the project. The album is being released through Disney’s Hollywood Records and her first single, “7 Things”, was released to radio last week. Miley co-wrote the song along with Cyrus with Antonina Armato and Tim James. James has previously worked with Cyrus on her Hannah Montana material and has also worked with Aly & AJ and the cast of High School Musical.

On the heels of the recent fuss brought about by the surfacing of various provocative images of Miley Cyrus on the internet and on the cover of Vanity Fair, the buzz is that the pictures may have led to the decline in audience numbers for Hannah Montana. According to the Nielsen ratings, the teen show has experienced a 14% drop in viewers since the Vanity Fair photos, taken be famed photographer, Annie Leibovitz, came out. Despite the slide, Disney's president and chief executive officer has assured that the Hannah Montana franchise is just as solid as ever.
In other news, Miley Cyrus could soon be part of a duet alongside none other than established Hollywood heavyweight, John Travolta. The news reportedly comes straight from Travolta's wife, Kelly Preston.

Miley Cyrus has been plagued with bad press over her recent Vanity Fair photo shoot. The 15 year old star was shot by celebrity photographer Annie Liebowitz without her shirt on. She was covered in a blanket but showed her bare back. Cyrus, at the time, felt that it was an artistic shot but once the magazine hit stands, she changed her tune, apologizing to her fans and saying that she was embarrassed. She stayed out of the public for a few days, waiting for things to blow over. At one press event, she quickly thanked her fans for their support. Just as it seems that everyone has moved on, Hugh Hefner brings our attention back to Miley and her sex appeal.

These days, it seems you can't pick up a magazine without seeing Miley Cyrus on the cover. She's come under fire in the last 6 months for growing up too fast, posing for racy pictures, and dressing more maturely. Despite being dragged through the mud by the press, Miley has stayed positive, thanking her fans for all their support, and kept a low profile. This week, Miley made yet another magazine cover but this time, it was for something good. People magazine named her among their most beautiful people in 2008 and talked a little with the Hannah Montana actress about growing up in the public eye.

On tonight’s episode of Hannah Montana, Miley headed home from a show in Albuquerque. She’s anxious to get home when she finds out that Lilly has an extra ticket to tomorrow night’s Maroon 5 concert. Robby was hoping to take his time heading back, making some stops along the way, and spend some quality time with his kids. Whether Miley or Jackson like it or not, Robby makes a stop at diner that has sentimental meeting to him.
At the diner, Robby tries to tell Miley and Jackson an important story about the diner but they’re not interested in listening. The kids head back to the bus, refusing to listen to their father.

This Sunday, Hannah Montana will return for its first new episode since March. On the last episode, Miley's Uncle Earl came to town to become a rock star. Embarrassed by her uncle, Miley finally learns to accept him for who he is and gave him his moment in the spotlight. David Koechner guest starred as Uncle Earl. This Sunday, another guest star heads to Hannah Montana, but it's a face we've seen before. Brooke Shields will return as Miley's mom. Shields first appeared on the show last year, in a flashback.

Miley Cyrus just can’t seem to go a week or two without a photo scandal hitting the internet. In the last year, two different sets of pictures have made the rounds online, private photos of hers, in sexy outfits and poses. Cyrus, her father, and Disney have not commented on them, most likely hoping that by ignoring it, the problem will go away. The pictures that have come out so far were never intended for the public to see. This week, the Hannah Montana star was extremely embarrassed when photos from an upcoming Vanity Fair article hit the internet. Though she thought, at the time, that they were in good taste, she had a change of heart when she saw them again.
