Every week on Gossip Girl, we bear witness to such lies, manipulations and schemes that would make Machiavelli himself blush. In the real world, we probably don't come across anything quite so tawdry or malicious as some of the shenanigans that we see on Gossip Girl, but maybe that's why it's so entertaining and addictive to watch.
However, underneath its decadently polished veneer, Gossip Girl tells a universal tale about basic people with the kind of relationships that you and I all have. We may not all have trust funds or Cindi Lauper-smitten maids who wait on us hand and foot, but we all have best friends we sometimes bicker with and lovers we quarrel with. Above all, we all have parents.

Spotted: Little Jenny Humphrey packing her bags and moving out of Brooklyn. That's what happened on last week's episode of Gossip Girl, as J let the success of her impromptu fashion show go straight to her bangs. Also moving on to greener pastures was Nate, who fled to the Hamptons after Dan found out about his fling with the wannabe fashion icon. D may be willing to play Judge Judy and executioner when it comes to N, but he doesn't deserve the moral high ground after sending his story about Chuck to his advisor. How far is Dan willing to go for a recommendation letter?
Tonight's episode of Gossip Girl introduces the hilarious Wallace Shawn as Eleanor's DeVito-esque love interest, Cyrus Rose. There's nothing like watching B stress over a romance.

The last few episodes of Gossip Girl have focused on hot couples like Nate and Jenny and Chuck and Blair, but next week's scandalous hour finally allows the adults to find some romance. Monday's episode introduces Cyrus Rose, played by The Princess Bride's Wallace Shawn, who immediately becomes smitten with Eleanor Waldorf. In the Gossip Girl book series, Rose eventually marries Eleanor and becomes Blair's horribly embarrassing stepfather. Could the head honcho of Waldorf designs actually settle down with Mr. "Inconceivable!" himself?
To get fans ready for Monday's episode, we have some pictures and clips from "Bonfire of the Vanity."

In the world of Gossip Girl, when life gives the characters lemons, they usually blackmail someone into taking the lemons after snapping an incriminating photo of them sexing up a stranger. Unfortunately, clever blackmail schemes can't solve every problem, which is why last night's episode found two characters packing their bags and getting away from it all. After being confronted by Dan (Penn Badgley) about his fling with Jenny, Nate decided to ditch the Upper East Side to stay with his mom in the Hamptons. As for Little J, the wannabe Project Runway contestant didn't need a push from Tim Gunn to know it was time to leave her happy home. Jenny's impromptu fashion show may have been a hit with the New York elite, but not with Rufus, who's probably wondering if he should have given the girl up for adoption before she reached puberty.

Little Jenny Humphrey has been stirring up a lot of trouble on Gossip Girl lately. Thanks to the devil on her shoulder named Agnes, Jenny dared to walk away from her job at Waldorf Designs in last week's episode. Not only did J find the confidence to strike out on her own in the fashion world, but she also had the audacity to plant a kiss on Nate. Some viewers found their shocking make-out session hot and steamy, while others found it completely creepy. Speaking of romance, Blair (Leighton Meester) and Chuck decided to put their mutual lust on the back burner so they can continue doing what they truly love, which is scheming against one another.
On tonight's Gossip Girl, Jenny and Agnes plan an impromptu fashion show, and Blair babysits a bratty teenager with sex on her brain.

Last season, the writers' strike led to the shutdown of all of our favorite scripted television shows, forcing many of them to wrap up their seasons with less than 22 episodes. A few shows bounced back from the strike and went on to ratings gold, but others have found their numbers plummeting since the new season began. Viewers are a fickle bunch, and if a show disappears for too long it's likely many people will forget about it and move on.
The CW has struggled to court viewers since its inception, and their latest plan ensures that fickle audience members won't have time to forget their shows. According to Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello, the network has ordered additional episodes of Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and 90210, allowing each series to have an extra long season.

I know I'm in the minority on this one, and feel free to bludgeon me with a Burberry bag if you must, but I actually like Jenny Humphrey on Gossip Girl. The character receives a lot of hate from the fans, who tend to see Little J as an obnoxious, annoying brat. I agree she can be bratty, but for the most part I think she's delightfully bitchy, which is quite different. It's nice to see a 15-year-old who has both the 'tude to stand up to the likes of Blair and Eleanor Waldorf, and the nerve to plant a kiss on Nate. Little J has what it takes to mix things up with the devious masterminds of the Upper East Side, and that's something to be admired.
On Monday's new episode of Gossip Girl, J and Agnes plan a guerilla fashion show that may catapult Jenny to fame and fortune. You can check out some photos and a promo for the episode below.

On last night's Gossip Girl, Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen) finally left her childish ways behind her by wearing a hideous mullet and black skanky eyeliner to go with her rebellious new attitude. Well, I like the ‘tude, but I can certainly live without the mullet or the eyeliner. Or that awful hat she was wearing all episode. What was up with that? For a talented young fashion designer, she should try to make herself a wee bit more presentable, n'est-ce pas?
