Girlfriends

Summary

Girlfriends is a CW sitcom that first started as a UPN show in 2000. Girlfriends follows the stories of two successful African American women and one white woman living in Los Angeles. Girlfriends has ignited some controversy because the writer of the show has accused CW of promoting its "white" show Gilmore Girls over Girlfriends. Since then, CW has continued to push its "white" shows even in urban markets where it is predominantly African American. It is well-written, albeit with familiar story lines, Girlfriends does a great job of telling a realistic story about each of the characters and allowing its audience to build rapport with each of the characters.
