Felicity is the story of recent high school graduate, Felicity Porter, who suddenly decides to alter her college plans of taking up medicine in Stanford University, in order to follow a schoolmate to New York. When her crush, Ben Covington, scribbles a message on her yearbook about wishing he’d gotten to know her, Felicity junks her Stanford plans and decides to go to the University of New York to stay close to him. After her parents’ unsuccessful attempt at getting her to return home to Palo Alto, California and resume her original path, Felicity realizes that her decision to come to the Big Apple wasn’t about Ben but about finding herself. The series goes on to chronicle her experiences at college, the café she works at and the people she meets along the way, including the college dorm resident advisor, Noel Crane, with whom she develops a romantic relationship. The ensuing dynamics between her, Ben and Noel provide the basic dramatic conflicts that carry through to the conclusion of the show.
