There are some writers in the entertainment industry who aren't particularly entertaining when forced to speak, but Joss Whedon is not one of them. The man is just as witty and hilarious as the characters he brought to life on shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Firefly. Whedon appeared at the San Diego Comic-Con today along with the cast of his latest project, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog: Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion, Felicia Day and Simon Helberg. When the hilarious gang wasn't making penis jokes or dropping F-bombs, they managed to reveal some big plans for the future of the Internet musical. Could a sequel be in the works?

Joss Whedon is going to shoot a brand new pilot for Dollhouse, his upcoming FOX drama. Dollhouse, which is set to premiere sometime after the first of the year, stars Eliza Dushku as an employee of an underground company whose memory is wiped clean and embarks on various tasks – whatever their clients choose. Whedon, whose previous series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly cemented him as a cult favorite, has decided that the original pilot was not as good as it could have been, and that the first episode could use some more “pop.” The original pilot will not be scrapped, but simply become Dollhouse's second episode. This isn't an unprecedented move, but it makes one wonder how meddlesome the FOX executives are being with Whedon's new show.

On Thursday, July 24 the biggest pop culture event of the year kicks off: the San Diego Comic-Con. Over 125,000 people attended the convention last year and caught advance sneak peeks of shows like Lost, Heroes, Battlestar Galactica, Pushing Daisies, 24, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and dozens more. The annual gathering is also where numerous movie studios hype their upcoming releases, with Iron Man and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull being big highlights in 2007. For four days every summer, San Diego becomes the place to be for the latest pop culture bombshells.

The San Diego Comic-Con has been a TV fan talking point for years now. Come each summer, our favorite TV show creators and TV stars gather in panels to answer fan questions, discuss behind the scenes goings on and, most excitingly, give sneak peeks of their new seasons. Also making appearances are those with brand new shows they want us to watch and love -- like new genre offerings from such famous talents as Joss Whedon and J.J. Abrams.
This year's Comic-Con is only a few weeks away and Kristin over at E! Online has the tentative panel schedule. With a potential actor strike looming and with the otherwise unpredictable nature of those in the business of show, nothing is set in stone, but it looks like the creators behind all of our favorite hit shows will be making appearances -- and letting slip the juicy advance news we all crave.

It's the future, apparently. FOX, as part of their upfront presentation yesterday, where they laid out the Fall and Spring prime time schedules and introduced their new series, made another big announcement: highly anticipated new series Dollhouse and Fringe will both air with nearly no commercial breaks. Both series will have around five minutes of commercials per hour, as opposed to 15-18 minutes of commercial and promo time usually found in an hour-long series. Both Fringe and Dollhouse come from high-profile creators – J.J. Abrams and Joss Whedon, respectively. Even though no one has seen even the pilot for either show, the expectations are very high, and this advertising experiment shows FOX's confidence in them.

FOX's Spring schedule is much more interesting than its Fall counterpart. It also contains the single greatest announcement I've heard all week: the American Idol Results Show is going back to a half hour. That wasn't so hard, now, was it FOX? FOX has mastered the art of different, high-profile shows sharing time slots in different parts of the year. As a result, FOX airs less re-runs and makes up for the fact that they run one hour of television less per night than the other three major networks. FOX January and onward schedule is below, but remember – FOX is always very flexible with their schedule.

It's a great day for fans who are looking forward to Joss Whedon's new FOX series, Dollhouse. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator's latest foray into television is about a girl named Echo, played by Eliza Dushku, who is part of an elite group of people known as "dolls." These dolls are humans who have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas, making them the perfect undercover operatives for dangerous assignments.
It was previously announced that actors such as Olivia Williams and Tahmoh Penikett (Battlestar Galactica) would be in the cast, and now two more familiar names have been announced for prominent roles: Harry Lennix (24) and former Angel actress Amy Acker.

Months ago it was announced that writer Joss Whedon would be making his long-awaited return to television with a show called Dollhouse. The upcoming FOX series stars former Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress Eliza Dushku as a woman named Echo, who is part of an elite group of people known as "dolls." These dolls are humans who have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas, making them the perfect undercover operatives for dangerous assignments. It's a high concept series, but we'd expect nothing less from the man who brought us Buffy, Angel, and Firefly.
The promise of a new Whedon project starring a former Buffy actress was exciting enough on its own, but today it was announced that Battlestar Galactica's Tahmoh Penikett, who plays Lt. "Helo" Agathon on the Sci Fi Channel series, has also been cast in a major role. He'll be playing Echo's twisted romantic foil in the drama, which will air on FOX in the fall.
