Despite several criticisms from the Parents Television Council (PTC), highly acclaimed Dexter has managed to make its way into network television, much to every fan's delight. The series had already established a solid fan base while it aired on Showtime, and now, the season 1 reruns on CBS are the talk of the town.
Late last year, the series had completed the 12-episode long run of the second season just in time to avoid the WGA writers' strike. Shortly thereafter, it was renewed for a third season, which was reported to start filming in fall of 2008. While it's going to take several months before Dexter airs its third season, fans can catch the season 2 DVD to ease the wait.

CBS' broadcasts of critical darling Dexter has been met by much protest from television watchdog groups, particularly the Parents Television Council. Jeff Lindsay, author of the book series on which the dark drama is based, neither condemns nor defends his character's behavior, but has expressed disdain over the group's efforts to screen what audiences tune in to.
"These are idiots who want to determine what we watch and don't watch," Lindsay told USA Today. "I imagine that at the dark of the moon, they put on their brown shirts and go out goose-stepping."

Fans of Showtime's serial-killer drama Dexter will be excited to know that the series is currently being developed into a video game. According to industry reports, the premium cable network has signed a production deal with the gaming division of Marc Ecko hip-hop fashion house. The deal calls for the creation of a game that will be available for several platforms, including the Sony Playstation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360.
"Dexter is the extremely rare TV show with enough layers of action and tension to translate perfectly into a compelling video game," Marc Fernandez, vice president of Marc Ecko Enterprises, said.

Dexter, a dark crime show that follows the ethically questionable quests of a blood spatter analyst/serial killer, will soon be debuting on Showtime's sister broadcast network, CBS. Show star Julie Benz has had great confidence in the series, but admits she wasn't expecting it would reach network television.
“It definitely was a big surprise,” Benz, who plays Rita on Dexter, told TV Guide, adding that although the news was unexpected, she knows it will help draw more attention to the show. “It's an opportunity to gain more exposure for the show. So many people say to me, ‘Oh, I've heard so much about it but I don't get Showtime,' so hopefully now they'll see it on CBS and get Showtime.”

Showtime's Dexter began season 2 with Dexter Morgan unable to satisfy his killer urges for over a month due the discovery of his underwater dumping ground for his victims and the constant surveillance of Sgt. Doakes. After he realized that he was the cause of his father's death, Dexter started to questions his identity and the “Code of Harry,” the belief system that rationalizes his existence and survival as a serial killer. In the explosive ending, Sgt. Doakes died and Dexter was able to get himself out of the tricky situation.
Now, Dexter is ready to embark on new bloodlust adventures, carefully killing the criminals that have slip through the justice system without the “Code of Harry.”

Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter can now be added to the list of celebrities who are rumored to be dating. The news comes as an unexpected twist given that Hall and Carpenter are on-screen siblings on the acclaimed Showtime series, Dexter.
Though it hasn't been confirmed by either party, the news won't seem to die as more and more media outlets are continuing to report about the Dexter co-stars dating. And when there's smoke, there must be fire.

Dexter is coming to CBS. It's official. Beginning Sunday, February 17, the first season of Showtime's Dexter will air weekly at 10pm, edited to fit the standards of network TV. Dexter stars Michael C. Hall as a Miami based forensics expert who, it turns out, is also a serial killer. This will be the first time a pay cable series has ever received a full season run on network television. As cool an idea as this might sound, it is indicative of the dearth of scripted programming left for networks amid the writers' strike. Although CBS will do their best to not make this move look like a last resort, one can rightly view it as desperate.
