At the end of Sunday's episode of Desperate Housewives, Edie packed up and left Wisteria Lane, which surprised many viewers. Well, sort of. For some time now, rumors have swirled that Nicollette Sheridan, who plays the sexy realtor, will be leaving ABC's award-winning dramedy. Though both the network and Sheridan's publicist, Nicole Perna, have been tightlipped in response to inquiries about the actress' imminent departure, show creator Marc Cherry already hinted that Sheridan's character will be crossing a huge moral boundary that she's never crossed before on the show.

ABC, the number two network in all the land (and only behind FOX because of the Super Bowl and American Idol), had its upfront presentation early this morning. The network unveiled its Fall schedule, and it's pretty hard to get excited about it. Nothing against ABC – the schedule is good, probably the best, top to bottom, of any network – it's just that there weren't many openings this time around. Last season ABC launched eight new shows in the Fall, the most of any network. For the most part, ABC hit a homerun with Dirty Sexy Money, Pushing Daisies, Private Practice, Samantha Who?, and Eli Stone in the mid-season.
Networks rarely have so many returning second-year shows. Because of this, ABC had very little work to do this pilot season. There are only two new shows on the Fall schedule, with two more targeted for the mid-season. Continue reading for a detailed description of the schedule and new shows.

Another actor is about to stir up some drama in Wisteria Lane. Gale Harold, who rose to fame for his portrayal of Brian Kinney on the Showtime TV series Queer as Folk, has booked a potentially recurring role on ABC's Desperate Housewives.
Not much has been confirmed about Harold's Desperate Housewives storyline, though TV Guide reveals that he will be playing a quick-witted, charming and buttoned-down suburbanite. Fans can expect the 38-year-old actor to grace the dramedy in the May 18 finale, though Harold's character is expected to return next season in a recurring capacity.

When Desperate Housewives returned after a three-month hiatus, several new faces have surfaced in Wisteria Lane. Among those characters is Wayne Davis, portrayed by Gary Cole, who immediately stirred some controversy when he was briefly introduced as Katherine Mayfair's (Dana Delany) thought-to-be-dead ex-husband.
Though some viewers would expect the latest ex-husband hunk to create havoc by jumping on and off the bedroom merry-go-round on the ABC dramedy, Cole reveals otherwise.
