Edward Mallory, most known for his role on the NBC soap opera Days of Our Lives, died at the age of 76, after succumbing to a number of illnesses that have yet to be named. He left behind his wife and former Days of Our Lives co-star Suzanne Zenor, and his son, John Mallory Asher (with actress Joyce Bulifant). Zenor had been unwilling to disclose what exactly led to Mallory’s demise on April 4, 2007. Mallory had been a familiar face in primetime television, having joined the cast of Days of our Lives in 1966. He replaced actor Paul Carr as Dr. Bill Horton during the daytime drama’s second season, and eventually left the show in 1980. In an attempt to address the series’ declining ratings, Days of Our Lives will be cooking up some changes in its upcoming episodes. Jason Brooks was most known for playing Peter Blake on the soap opera Days of Our Lives. As the character Peter Blake, he graced the show from 1993 to 1998, and even won a Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Villain. Throughout his 5-year stint on the program, he performed various felonious acts such as planned John Black’s murder, ran drugs through the Blue Moon club, used special paint to make Laura think she was crazy, shot and killed Jude St. Clair to keep his secrets hidden, and tried to kidnap Jennifer after she left him. In addition, he also tried to kill Bo Brady, Hope Brady and Jennifer Horton, and took Jennifer’s funeral hostage with a shotgun. Read more »
James Acheson became a household name when he was cast on NBC’s Days of Our Lives, a soap opera that revolves around families of the fictional town of Salem. He entered the plot as Jack Deveraux, who was originally portrayed by Joseph Adams. As a politically ambitious newspaper reporter from a well-off family, he entered the scene as an outright villain. Following his emergency heart valve replacement surgery on May 24th, Days of Our Lives star James Reynolds spent ten days in the hospital before finally being sent home to his wife, Lissa, to continue his journey to recovery. Reynolds, who portrays Abe Carver on the daytime series, was suffering from a heart birth defect known as pulmonary valve stenosis. The condition, which occurs in one out of ten children, is characterized by a narrowing of the pulmonary valve, which in turn causes a constriction that compels the heart to pump blood harder through the valve. Read more »

Kristian Alfonso has other things keeping her busy besides acting on the soap opera Days of Our Lives. She has come up with her own clothing and jewelry line, which she will extensively launch on the Home Shopping Network on July 23 and 24.Alfonso, a 43-year old native of Brockton, Massachusetts, is an actress currently playing Hope Brady on Days of Our Lives. In May, actor Thaao Penghlis again made his way back to the long-running daytime drama series, Days of Our Lives, and recently, the 61-year-old actor opened up about returning to the show and sharing the small screen once again with fellow Days of Our Lives stars Joseph Mascolo and Leann Hunley. Penghlis, who was born in Sydney, Australia, started appearing as Tony DiMera in the daytime series in 1981. His character is the son of Stefano DiMera (Mascolo) and ex-husband of Anne Fredericks (Hunley). All three left the show at different points in time, but their reunion has made Penghlis’ comeback a more delightful experience. Read more »

Nowadays, many networks have already resorted to other means of disseminating and promoting its television programs. Most recently, Days of Our Lives has penetrated the world of portable media players since its episodes are now readily available through iPods. Two years ago, NBC has hinted on the need to find alternative ways to distribute its soaps including Days of Our Lives. "We‘re going into this future of television [which is] going to be changing very drastically in the next five years in all of the dayparts," NBC entertainment president Kevin Reilly has said during Days‘ 40th anniversary celebration. "You see the iPod deals, watching shows on people‘s cell phones... and we‘re going to be working very hard to figure out how [to] keep this great franchise alive." Read more »
