Articles for Dancing with the Stars Season 6

Dancing with the Stars is back again for a sixth season!  There are 12 all-new celebrities who will learn the tricks of the trade from their professional partners.  We‘re in for another great season of glitzy costumes, fiery paso dobles and wacky comments from the judges.  Not to mention voting for our favorite pairs week after week. The six male stars are given the opportunity to set the bar, as they will perform in tonight‘s hour and a half show.  Which of them will surprise us?  Who will have two left feet?  Whom will the judges love?  Keep refreshing your browser as I provide you with live thoughts for during the entire 90-minute episode. Read more »
The two-night Dancing with the Stars premiere event continues tonight.  Last night, the six men showed the nation what they were made of with their foxtrots and their cha chas.  Mario, Jason Taylor and Cristian de la Fuente came in at the head of the pack, with Steve Guttenberg, Penn Jillette and Adam Carolla languished at the bottom of the pack. But tonight is all about the women.  Will Kristi take charge of the dance floor like she did on the ice?  Will Priscilla show the young‘uns a thing or two about how it‘s done?  Will Marlee be able to overcome her disability to get her groove on?  Keep refreshing your browser as I provide you with live thoughts throughout tonight‘s broadcast. Read more »
Yesterday, I compiled a list of the best parts of the two-night Dancing with the Stars premiere. The noteworthy celebs and dancers mentioned were Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas for the best and highest-scoring performance, Tony Dovolani for the best—and also tackiest—outfit, Steve Guttenberg and Marissa Jaret Winokur were tied for having the best attitude, and I believe that Marlee Matlin and Jason Taylor have the best chance at winning. That was yesterday, however. Today, we get to unleash our inner Schadenfreude and pick apart the worst of the first Dancing with the Stars performances. Read more »
One of the best parts about Dancing with the Stars is that we all get to be armchair dance critics. Probably very few of us will ever get a chance to learn the samba from a world-class ballroom champion, but from watching the show, we still do develop a good, critical eye and taste for all things ballroom. And now that the two-night Dancing with the Stars premiere is over, we‘ve had a chance to mull over all 12 performances, so let the analysis begin! What did you like best about Monday and Tuesday night? Which couple had the best performance? Who had the best costume? Who has the best attitude and the best chance at winning? Read on to see what I thought, and then post your own thoughts. Read more »
Last week, ABC featured the two-night Dancing with the Stars premiere event, in which we witnessed the debut performances of the 12 celebrities and their professional dance partners.  Tonight, all the teams are back again for another performance and another chance to prove to us at home why each deserves to continue on in Dancing with the Stars.  There‘s a lot at stake tonight because tomorrow, in the results show, two celebs - one man and one woman - will have to say good-bye.Stay tuned tonight and keep refreshing your web browser.  I will be on hand throughout tonight‘s two-hour performance show to provide you with Dancing with the Stars live thoughts. Read more »
Last night on Dancing with the Stars, all 12 couples danced their hearts out for the second time, doing their best to appeal to the judges and to voters at home.  Kristi and Mark quickly identified themselves as the marquee team this year, with Mario and Karina close on their heels.  At the bottom of the pack were Penn and Kym, and Monica and Jonathan. Two weeks‘ worth of votes have been counted, and combined with the judges‘ scores, and tonight, we‘ll have the first-ever double-elimination on Dancing with the Stars.  Keep refreshing your browser throughout the hour, as I will be providing you with live thoughts. Read more »
This week‘s double elimination result on Dancing with the Stars was hardly a surprise to anyone, since the two who got eliminated, Penn Jillette and Monica Seles, received the lowest scores from the judges. On the other hand, finding out that teenage singers like the Jonas Brothers can actually be entertaining, now that‘s a shocker! But every week, the hosts of Dancing with the Stars, Tom Bergeron and Samantha Harris, are always reminding us that the judges‘ scores are not the only factors that go into figuring out who will be booted off, which is why we have to get off our couches and call or text in our votes. The question is, how do they combine the judges‘ scores and America‘s votes? Read more »
In the interest of full disclosure, let it be known this is the first episode of Dancing with the Stars I‘ve ever watched. Debbie Chang, who normally mans this post (or womans it, to be politically correct) is on a vacay, so whereas she can provide insightful commentary on dance moves and flamboyantly glittery outfits, all I can give you is some grade-A mockery and as many pop culture references as you can stomach.I‘ll be here throughout the whole episode with my live commentary on what‘s happening. Hopefully someone will fall, someone‘s pants will split, and Mahoney won‘t get in trouble with the Commandant. Read more »
Many thanks to BuddyTV Senior Writer, John Kubicek, for filling in for me for the Dancing with the Stars Top 10 Performance show last night.  From his live thoughts and recap, it looked to be a great show.Tonight, we‘ll find out if Marissa Jaret Winokur has enough fans to keep her around for another week.  And, we‘ll find out if Adam Carolla manages to stick around despite offending half of the Western Hemisphere.Who will be voted out tonight?  Stick around for the entire hour.  I‘ll be here with live thoughts. Read more »
On Tuesday night‘s Dancing with the Stars results show, professional dancers Derek Hough, Julianne Hough and Mark Ballas were supposed to perform a contemporary routine together during Kylie Minogue‘s performance of her hit song "Can‘t Get You Out of My Head." However, during rehearsal earlier that day, Derek injured his neck and immediately had to stop."We‘ve got a more contemporary number this week for Kylie Minogue. And we have a move where our arms kind of come down and we throw the head back. As he threw his head back he cracked his neck," Mark Ballas said. Read more »
Welcome to another week of Dancing with the Stars.  Last week, Steve Guttenberg and Anna Trebunskaya were ousted from the competition.  Meanwhile, Kristi and Mark remained firmly at the top.  Will they continue their reign, or will they begin to falter?Tonight, the nine remaining couples will be dancing either the Viennese waltz or the paso doble, both great styles on this show.  Stay tuned for the entire hour and a half broadcast of the performances.  I will be on hand to provide you with live thoughts throughout. Read more »
Last night on Dancing with the Stars was all about fiery drama and graceful elegance with the paso doble and the Viennese waltz.  The judges gave their first perfect 10s last night to Kristi, Jason and Shannon.  The season is getting exciting!  And, for the first time all season, the bottom two will be revealed.  Who will be in the bottom two?Stay tuned this whole hour and keep refreshing your browsers.  I‘ll be providing live thoughts for this Dancing with the Stars results show. Read more »
Last week on the Dancing with the Stars results show, Len Goodman requested an encore of Steve Guttenberg‘s and Anna Trebunskaya‘s tango. However, because Anna was very sick at the time, she asked her husband and erstwhile partner of the early-ousted Monica Seles to step in for her. And the result? A highly entertaining "Man-go" that had the audience on their feet. Unfortunately, the man-on-man dance was performed after the votes had already been cast, so the Gutte ended up being eliminated that night anyway, but the question remains: would Dancing with the Stars ever consider having same-sex dance partners in future seasons?Stephen McPherson, the president of ABC, has recently indicated that the network is not necessarily opposed to the idea of having same-sex couples on its most popular dancing show. He said that he could not think of a "reason not." Read more »
Last week on Dancing with the Stars, the top nine dancers performed either the very dramatic paso doble or the romantic Viennese waltz.  Adam Carolla took his interpretation of the paso doble to a whole new level, incorporating a unicycle into the performance.  Sadly for him and his partner Julianne Hough, they didn‘t get enough votes to continue on in the competition. We‘ve reached the halfway point in Dancing with the Stars, with only eight teams left.  It‘s exciting tonight because it‘s Latin night, the sexiest night of television.  Stick around as I provide live thoughts throughout the whole hour and a half of sambas and rumbas.Live!  this is Dancing with the Stars! Read more »
Welcome to week 5 of Dancing with the Stars.  The eight remaining teams performed the samba or the rumba last night, but it ended up being a pretty dull performance show, despite the potential for sexiness in these two Latin styles.  Hopefully, tonight‘s Dancing with the Stars results show will up the entertainment quotient from last night.Currently Priscilla is in the bottom with only 21 points, but she‘s not that far behind Marlee, who has 22, and Cristian and Shannon, who each have 23.  By my calculations, Priscilla only needs 0.5 percent more votes than Marlee, or 1 percent more votes than either Cristian or Shannon to stay in the game.  She certainly has a lot of fans, but did they vote for her last night?  Stick around to find out; I‘ll be here writing my live thoughts during the whole hour. Read more »
I love dancing and competitive dancing reality shows, and Dancing with the Stars is no exception. I especially like Dancing with the Stars because we, the viewing public, get to have so much say over who goes and who stays. There‘s something exciting and unpredictable about a vote-based reality show that you wouldn‘t get on a regular show. If audiences got to choose who would become America‘s Next Top Model, then Heather Kuzmich might have won it all.On Dancing with the Stars last season, without the audience‘s votes, Marie Osmond would almost certainly have been replaced by Sabrina Bryan in the final three because Sabrina was by far the superior dancer. Even though Sabrina may have deserved it more, the fact that she was booted early on provided some drama that kept us watching. Read more »
Last week on Dancing with the Stars, the top eight celebrity dancers and their professional dancers either the samba or the rumba in what turned out to be a pretty lackluster Latin night.  Cristian de la Fuente and Priscilla Presley were in the bottom two, but Priscilla scored the lowest combination of judges‘ scores and audience votes, so she danced their last dance.Hopefully, the seven remaining teams will step up the intensity tonight and really spice things up.  I‘m anxious for some excitement to happen.  You know me, I‘ll be here throughout the hour and a half Dancing with the Stars performance show to record it in my live thoughts. Read more »
I knew it! I so knew that the sexual chemistry between Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough wasn‘t fabricated for the benefit of their rumba last night on Dancing with the Stars. It‘s part of the nature of ballroom dancing to include fiery, sexy chemistry, but these dancers are professionals and they are very good at making it up when the occasion calls for it. However, on occasion, real sparks do fly and ignite some real romance. Just on Dancing with the Stars, for example, we have two confirmed romances, Mario Lopez and Karina Smirnoff from season 3, Sabrina Bryan and Mark Ballas from season 5. Now, it‘s American Pie actress Shannon Elizabeth and cutie pie dancer Derek Hough‘s turn to make headlines in the gossip magazines. Read more »
Last night was the season‘s ultimate showdown, or so says Tom Bergeron.  The judges were pleased with some of the performances, even awarding the first perfect score of the season.  But other teams didn‘t show enough passion, enough skill or technique.Which one of the top 7 will have to say good-bye tonight?  Tonight might be the night when we at last get a surprising elimination.  Stay tuned throughout this whole hour as I provide live thoughts of this Dancing with the Stars results show. Read more »
Finally, a tiny, baby-sized, miniscule shakeup went down last night on the Dancing with the Stars results show when the bottom two stars, Marlee Matlin and Mario, were revealed. Marlee got the lowest score on Monday night, lower than the next two teams by three whole points, so it makes sense that she would be in the bottom two. But Mario did amazingly well, scoring a 28 out of 30, the second-highest score of the night. How is it possible that he ended up in the bottom two?Well, I think it might have something to do with his voter base. At age 21, he‘s the youngest star in the competition, so it makes sense that the majority of his fanbase would also be young. While young people are certainly adept at texting or logging in votes, ensuring his safety on the show, there probably aren‘t too many of them even watching the show. Dancing with the Stars does have a reputation for being the domain of (ahem!) women of a certain age. Read more »
Two among the Dancing with the Stars professional cast and two celebrity dancers have made it this year‘s FHM feature, "100 Sexiest Women of 2008," which was just announced on Wednesday.Karina Smirnoff, paired this season with R&B artist Mario, was placed at number 78, and Cheryl Burke, two-time Dancing with the Stars champ, was ranked the 40th sexiest woman. Burke won seasons 2 and 3 of the show with Drew Lachey and Emmitt Smith, respectively, and this year, she is paired with telenovela star Cristian de la Fuente. Read more »
We are now in the seventh week of competition on Dancing with the Stars season 6. Beginning this week, the teams were required to learn and perform two separate routines, one in a ballroom style and one in a Latin style, for the judges to score. Now, with double the amount of work, the dancers are becoming more susceptible to injury. And tonight, half-way through the samba, his second performance of the evening, Cristian de la Fuente pulled a muscle in his arm.Enduring the pain, he managed to finish the performance, but as soon as he stopped dancing, he grabbed his arm, wincing. Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron decided to cut to commercial so that emergency medical personnel could attend to Cristian‘s arm. Read more »
For the first time this season on Dancing with the Stars, each of the six remaining couples will now have to learn and perform two different routines in two different styles, and they will get judged on both of them.  Historically, this is the point in the competition when the quality of performances takes a dive, as the celebrities cope with double the amount of work to.  It‘ll be interesting to see how perennial frontrunner, Kristi Yamaguchi will fare tonight, whether she‘ll stay on top, or open the field for someone else to take the lead.I‘ll be on hand throughout the entire broadcast of tonight‘s Dancing with the Stars performance show.  Keep checking back! Read more »
Last night‘s Dancing with the Stars was all about drama.  Perennial frontrunner Kristi Yamaguchi suffered the ignominy of falling to second place on the leaderbaord, and Cristian de la Fuente had to interrupt his routine due to a severe muscle cramp in his arm that sent him to the emergency room.Stay tuned for the entire hour tonight to see how Cristian is doing, to see who will get sent home, and to see Def Leppard!  Def Leppard will be performing tonight!  I‘ll be on hand providing live thoughts throughout the entire broadcast of Dancing with the Stars. Read more »
We reported yesterday that Dancing with the Stars couple Mario Lopez and professional dancer Karina Smirnoff have called it quits.  A source had told People Magazine that Smirnoff was seen canoodling with E! Entertainment personality Michael Yo, and moving out of Lopez‘s Los Angeles home. What a difference a day makes.  Today, both Lopez and Smirnoff are denying the rumors.Smirnoff told Samantha Harris, co-host of Dancing with the Stars, "Mario and I are fine.  It‘s all good." Read more »
This week on Dancing with the Stars, the hipless wonder Shannon Elizabeth and her injury-prone partner Derek Hough were shown the door after failing to curry enough votes from us viewers at home. This pair experienced many highs and lows during their time on the show. Derek was taken to the hospital twice in two weeks, first for a neck injury and then for food poisoning. One begins to wonder if someone else was trying to off him? Then the pair was caught kissing on camera when they went to a Malibu beach to film some rehearsal scenes. Next, they both unleashed their fury at the judges in their post-performance interview in week 6 about the fact that Shannon didn‘t have enough hip action. (It‘s true, you didn‘t. Go watch the performance tape, honey.) Read more »
Last week on Dancing with the Stars, the celebrity dancers and their professional partners upped their game and performed one ballroom plus one Latin routine.  The extra rehearsal time required to learn both routines took their toll on everyone, especially Cristian de la Fuente who suffered a ruptured tendon in his arm in the middle of his second performance.  Fortunately for him and his partner Cheryl Burke, the voters liked his routine enough to keep him around for at least another week of competition. There are still five teams remaining on Dancing with the Stars, and things are sure to get even more interesting.  Will Kristi Yamaguchi regain the judges‘ favor after being relegated to second place?  You better watch the performances tonight to find out.  Keep refreshing your browser; I‘ll be here with live thoughts throughout the entire broadcast. Read more »
It‘s the 100th episode of Dancing with the Stars tonight!  It‘s still a results show, so we‘ll find out which of the five remaining teams will be leaving.  Hopefully, since it‘s their 100th-episode celebration, there will be higher-quality filler in this results show.Last night was full of upsets when the one-armed bandit, Cristian de la Fuente, went home with the top scores.  Stay with me throughout the hour as I provide you with live thoughts of the broadcast. Read more »
In last night‘s Dancing with the Stars results show, Mario and his partner Karina Smirnoff were shown the door, despite having outscored both Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska, and Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani. Mario took the news with grace and class, but Karina Smirnoff made little attempt to hide her contempt for the situation, grimacing and rolling her eyes throughout the final few minutes of last night‘s broadcast.Karina is certainly making headlines lately. We reported earlier that she is FHM‘s 78th sexiest woman of 2008, that she and her third season partner Mario Lopez were broken up, and then not broken up. To top it off, she also took a public pot shot at Shannon Elizabeth for faking a romance with Derek Hough just to get votes in an In Touch interview. She‘s got a lot to say, that‘s for sure. Read more »
It‘s the semi-finals on Dancing with the Stars tonight.  Last week, Mario and Karina Smirnoff were eliminated, leaving only four intrepid teams left: Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke, Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska, Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani, and Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas. The four teams have two routines to perform each, and they were randomly assigned those styles.  Who‘s excited?  I am!  Stay with me for the whole 92-minute broadcast.  I‘ll be here with live thoughts, as usual. Read more »
It has been a long season, but now, we‘re only one week away from learning who will be the sixth winner of the coveted Dancing with the Stars mirror ball trophy.  It‘s down to the wire, with only four teams remaining.  It‘s really anyone‘s game.  Who will make it to the finals next week, and who will have to say good-bye tonight?Read on and keep refreshing your browser; I‘ll be on hand providing you with live thoughts throughout the entire hour-long broadcast. Read more »
The sixth season of Dancing with the Stars is nearing completion, and we are down to just three couples. We‘ve got the technically flawless but somewhat soulless former Olympic gold medal winner, Kristi Yamaguchi, and her partner, the doe-eyed Mark Ballas. We‘ve got the football star who cuts a striking figure, Jason Taylor, and his partner, the stunning and talented Edyta Sliwinska. Finally, we‘ve got the scenery-chewing Latin heartthrob, Cristian de la Fuente, and his partner, two-time Dancing with the Stars champion Cheryl Burke. There has been mild chatter in the blogosphere about whether or not Cristian de la Fuente deserves his spot in the final three. Some people, even some BuddyTV members, have been wondering whether Cristian faked the injury in his arm in order to gain sympathy votes from the home viewing audience. Read more »
All three finalists this season of Dancing with the Stars have proven themselves to be top-notch dancers. I don‘t think anyone would question that Kristi Yamaguchi has ballroom talent to spare or that Jason Taylor is surprisingly nimble and light on his toes. But Cristian de la Fuente is the most approachable of the three finalists and may ride the wave of fan appreciation all the way to victory.Cristian started out the season with middling scores, but under the adept tutelage of Cheryl Burke, he has managed to climb the ranks. Beginning with their jive in week 3, Cristian and Cheryl have been scoring very respectable 9s. Read more »
I have already expounded upon the topic of why I think Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas should take home the mirror ball trophy this week on Dancing with the Stars, but I think all three finalists have a shot at winning so, to be fair, I will now explain why Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska should win.If you remember, I had hoped that Jason and Edyta would win the Dancing with the Stars title when I made my preseason rankings way back in March. My decision was based largely on the fact that I am a huge fan of Edyta‘s. She has graced the dance floor for all six seasons of the show‘s existence, and I really think it‘s time for her to win. But now that we‘ve been able watch them these past nine weeks, I have been pleasantly surprised by Jason‘s dance abilities, and even if he were paired with another professional partner, I have come to believe that he would still have the goods to make it to the top. Read more »
With the semi-finals of Dancing with the Stars over this week, it‘s time to get serious. Who has what it takes to win the mirror ball trophy? It wouldn‘t be a stretch to say that the mirror ball trophy is Kristi Yamaguchi‘s to lose. She has been dominating the competition since the very beginning. She has been at the top of the judges‘ leaderboard every week, save weeks 7 and 8 when she only fell one place to the second highest spot. Read more »
It‘s finally here.  The night we have all been waiting for.  The season finale of Dancing with the Stars season 6.  In just two hours, we will find out which of the three final teams will win the coveted mirror ball trophy. After last night‘s final performance show, I think it‘s safe to say that Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas will make it to the final two and the dance-off.  But who will they be competing against?  Will it be Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke?  Or will it be Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska?  I can‘t say for sure which it will be, but I do know that I‘ll be providing you with live thoughts of the entire two-hour broadcast. Read more »
The end is (almost) here!  The finals of Dancing with the Stars are upon us!  It‘s the night that we‘ve all been waiting for these past 10 weeks.  It will be an unpredictable night chock-full of dancing.  All three finalists, Cristian de la Fuente, Jason Taylor, or Kristi Yamaguchi, are top-notch performers and anything can happen.Tonight, the three remaining stars will all dance the cha cha cha to the same song.  In addition, they will also get to perform a freestyle round in which the only rule is: there are no rules!  I‘ll be on hand providing you with live thoughts throughout the hour. Read more »
With the final performance show for this season of Dancing with the Stars mere hours away, it is about just about that time when we begin to get nostalgic about this sixth season of Dancing with the Stars. I‘m pretty certain that tonight‘s final performances will all be pretty darn good. None of them will even be close to making the list for worst performances of the season, so I think it‘s safe to take some time now to look back at the really big clunkers from this season. This sixth season of Dancing with the Stars is actually quite possibly the best season yet, with the highest level of performance achieved, thanks to the likes of Kristi Yamaguchi, Jason Taylor and Cristian de la Fuente. There has been so much good about this season that it‘s hard to remember all the bad. Read more »
The results are in! We found out last night that the new champions of Dancing with the Stars are Olympic figure skating gold medalist Kristi Yamaguchi and her adorable professional partner Mark Ballas. Many kudos to the dancing duo. They were definitely, far and away, the most talented couple in the competition this season, garnering high scores and praise from the judges and millions of votes from audiences at home. Now that the competition is over, we can take a look back at what were some of the best performances of this 2008 season. Obviously, we can probably fill the entire list with all of Kristi and Mark‘s performances, but there were some other great standouts as well. Read more »
It‘s no question a good portion of the pleasures of watching Dancing with the Stars stem from seeing how much the celebrities improve in their technique and showmanship week after week. But please, let us not forget the glittery, sequinsy, often feathery costumes that the dancers wear. For me, the costumes are often more entertaining to look at than scrutinizing the dancers‘ technique. There were ten weeks of Dancing with the Stars performances shows about about 94 different routines performed this season. That‘s a lot of different costumes! I‘ve carefully evaluated the various costumes displayed in each week of the competition and I‘ve come up with a list of the best and worst from each week. Read more »
Dancing with the Stars concluded last week with Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas crowned as the new champions of ballroom.  It was a very exciting season of mambos and tangos, lots of injuries and tons of high-level ballroom dancing. What‘s great about Dancing with the Stars is that we can all play judge from the comfort of our living rooms and call in our votes to the teams we deem worthy of the mirror ball trophy.  But let us take a look into the mind of the real judges.  Carrie Ann Inaba was kind enough to talk to BuddyTV and share her expert thoughts about this past season.  She talked about the judging process, which dancers really impressed her, and what a heel lead is and how to execute one.  Below, you will find an audiofile and a complete transcript of the interview. Read more »
Dancing with the Stars ended a great sixth season tonight with a two-hour season finale.  After last night‘s final performance show, Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas really pulled away from their competition, dancing a fantastic cha cha cha and a phenomenal freestyle routine and receiving two perfect 30s.  Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke trailed in second place with 52 points overall, followed by Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska with 51 points. These scores combined with the audience votes determined which two teams would make it to the final dance-off.  Read on to see how the two-hour season finale event transpired. Read more »
Welcome to the final week of competition in this sixth season of Dancing with the Stars.  We have our three finalists: Cristian de la Fuente, Jason Taylor and Kristi Yamaguchi.  Each had two last opportunities to appeal to us voters at home, once in the first-ever Dancing with the Stars cha cha cha face-off, and then in the freestyle round.  As promised, all rules are thrown out the window for the freestyle round - the teams could do as many lifts as their little hearts desire.Want to find out how the night‘s events transpired?  Read on to see the results of the final Dancing with the Stars performance show of season 6. Read more »

For the first time this season of Dancing with the Stars, the teams were required to learn and perform two different routines in two different styles, and lots of dramatic events went down. The big news from last night‘s Dancing with the Stars performance show was that Latin heartthrob Cristian de la Fuente was sent to the emergency room when he suffered what he thought was a pulled muscle.  To add insult to injury, the judges awarded him with the lowest scores of the evening, leaving him more dependent than ever on audience favor. In other shakeups, Olympic figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi ended the evening in second place!  It was Jason Taylor who took top honors last night. Read more »
This week, for the first time in the Dancing with the Stars competition, the teams all had to prepare one ballroom routine and one Latin routine.  Tonight‘s Dancing with the Stars was very dramatic indeed.  Kristi and Mark were finally kicked off of the top of the leaderboard, and Cristian was sent to the hospital in an ambulance after his samba.  Read on to see who managed take over Kristi and Mark‘s place at the top, and how Cristian got hurt. Read more »
Last night‘s Dancing with the Stars performance show featured a hodge podge of different dance styles, plus a big country-themed group number at the very end.  After the middling Latin performances of last week, the hodge podge was much more entertaining and well-executed.But tonight, it‘s all about the results.  Millions voted from home, and the audience votes combined with the judges‘ scores will determine who will be the sixth couple to be sent packing.  Read on to see what happened in the Dancing with the Stars results show. Read more »
Dancing with the Stars brought the excitement back tonight.  Each of the seven remaining teams had to perform a style that they hadn‘t yet performed this season, as well as a country-style big group dance.  The night‘s performances found some of the usual suspects doing excellently.  We got the first perfect 30 of the season tonight - can you guess who got it?  Unfortunately, some other competitors continued to struggle.  Read on to see the judges‘ leaderboard from tonight‘s Dancing with the Stars. Read more »
The top eight celebrity dancers and their professional partners performed sambas or rumbas last night on Dancing with the Stars in what should have been the sexiest night of television. (It turned out to be a fairly staid affair.) Kristi Yamaguchi ended the night with a nearly perfect 29, followed closely by Mario and Jason Taylor, each with 27 points. At the bottom were Cristian de la Fuente and Shannon Elizabeth with 23 points apiece, followed by Marlee Matlin with 22 and Priscilla Presley rounding out the bottom with 21 points.Read on to see how the evening Dancing with the Stars went. Read more »
It was Latin night on Dancing with the Stars tonight, featuring the fast-paced, sexy samba and the slow-burning, sexy rumba.  Well, it was supposed to be sexy anyway.   There were actually a whole lot of very safe, very careful performances.  With the high skill level that these dancers have already achieved, I really expected more out of all of them.As in the past four weeks, Kristi and Mark ended the evening on top, with Priscilla and Louis falling down to the bottom of the pack.  Read on to see the Dancing with the Stars standings for the fifth week of competition. Read more »
It‘s the fourth week of Dancing with the Stars season 6.  So far this season, Penn Jillette, Monica Seles and Steve Guttenberg have all had to end their dance training and say good-bye.After last night‘s paso doble and Viennese waltz performances, Kristi Yamaguchi maintained her coveted position as the judges‘ golden child, earning a nearly perfect 29 out of 30.  However, she was quickly joined by Jason Taylor, who tied her for first place.  Nipping at their heels was Shannon Elizabeth, who managed to make Len give up a 10 for the first time all season. At the bottom was Adam Carolla, with 19 points, and Priscilla Presley, 22 points.  Tonight, we found out what America thought of these performances.  Read on to find out the results. Read more »
Tonight on Dancing with the Stars, it was all about the paso doble and the Viennese waltz, bringing out, respectively, dramatic and fiery passion or elegant romanticism in the nine performances. This season of Dancing with the Stars is looking to be as competitive as ever.  The judges gave some fantastic scores - five tens were awarded tonight.  All in all, a very exciting evening of performances, featuring much furling and unfurling of capes and even a unicycle!  Read on to see the standings based on the judges‘ scores. Read more »
Last week on Dancing with the Stars, we had our first ever, much-hyped double elimination. This week, thank heavens, we‘re back to the usual single elimination. After last night‘s top 10 performances, Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas are still the ones to beat, scoring their third of three nearly perfect 27 out of 30. I predict however that sooner or later, the public is going to turn on them for being too good and they‘ll get voted off in favor of an underdog, but that night isn‘t tonight. One point behind them is this year‘s cougar, Priscilla Presley, and her arm candy, Louis van Amstel. Cristian de la Fuente, Shannon Elizabeth and Jason Taylor faired decently, making up the middle of the pack. Read more »
Tonight was the first time I‘ve ever seen Dancing with the Stars, and for the most part, I was entertained. The stars all seem to be having a good time, while the professionals range from excited to bored. The costumes are fabulous, the songs are outrageously karaoke, and the moves are…OK, I guess, but after recapping the finale of America‘s Best Dance Crew, ballroom is a little tame. The scores are right down the middle. Five celebrities are looking good, while the other five are in a virtual tie for last place. Tomorrow night‘s Dancing with the Stars results show could teach us a lot if the person with the lowest score isn‘t eliminated, as Tom Bergeron constantly reminds viewers that last week, because of the double elimination, we didn‘t see who else was in the bottom two. Read more »
After last night‘s Dancing with the Stars performance episode, Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas led the group of 12 with phenomenal scores.  Mario and Karina Smirnoff also performed amazingly well, especially considering that this is only the second week of competition.  The two couples who scored the lowest with the judges were Penn Jillette and Kym Johnson, followed by Monica Seles and Jonathan Roberts. And, for the first time, ever, the first Dancing with the Stars results show was hyped to be a doozy because two couples, one from the men‘s side and one from the women‘s side, would be going home.  Actually, it wasn‘t really all that surprising.  Everything played out pretty much how we expected.Read on to see which couples are safe and which two mush sashay all the way home. Read more »

Tonight, it was the women‘s turn to turn, spin and promenade their way toward earning the coveted Dancing with the Stars mirror ball trophy.  The ladies proved decisively that they mean business this season.  There were some awkward moments, but for the most part, tonight boasted superior overall performances than the men last night, and the judges took notice. All 12 men and women will have one last time to appeal to the judges and to us, the voters, when they all take the stage next Monday.  Then on Tuesday, there will be a double elimination.  One male star and one female star will have to say good-bye. Read more »
All six men gave it their all tonight on the first night of Dancing with the Stars season 6, dancing either the cha cha or the foxtrot.  The much-anticipated season premiere was full of glitz and glam--from the professionals, anyway--and sloppy footwork and tentative steps from the celebrities.  But it‘s only the first night, and I‘m expecting a lot of improvement as the weeks go by.Tomorrow night on Dancing with the Stars, the six women will take center stage and show off their fancy footwork. Read more »
