Towards the latter part of July, CBS announced that Megalyn Echikunwoke would be replacing Khandi Alexander as the new medical examiner for the team on CSI: Miami. She was cast then in a recurring capacity, playing a character who immediately makes a good impression with Horatio Cane and the entire team. Alexander, for her part, has previously promised that she will be returning to the show in the future to guest and what-not. After all, she was with CSI: Miami since 2002.
Recently, however, it was announced that Echikunwoke has been promoted to series regular. She will be introduced in the second episode as Dr. Tara Price, the new medical examiner.

First to return is CSI: Miami, which will premiere its 7th season on September 22 at 10pm ET/PT, with an episode called “Resurrection.” CBS gives us these nail-biting, curious details:

After a controversial exit from the CSI: Miami at the end of its sixth season, reports have it that it won't be the last time medical examiner Dr. Alexx Woods would be appearing on the series, as she is welcome to return to the show as a guest star anytime in the future. This dispels reports that Alexander's parting with CSI: Miami has been a less than amicable one, with rumored stories on clashes with CSI: Miami main man Horatio Caine (David Caruso).
In addition, it appears that Alexander will have little free time to return to the show, seeing that she was cast to star in the upcoming HBO series Treme. Named after the iconic New Orleans neighborhood that has produced a lot of famed musicians, Treme was created by one of the biggest names in television series David Simon (The Wire).

As one of CSI: Miami's newest cast members, Evan Ellingson admits that he wasn't really a big CSI: Miami fan.
"I had watched the original CSI and a little bit of Miami in the first season but after that, not so much.”

It happened at the base of the world's largest waterfall, the majestic Victoria Falls at the southern part of Africa. CSI: Miami star Eva LaRue accepted the proposal of businessman Joe Cappuccio.
LaRue, 41, recently told OK that she absolutely adores the 4-carat diamond engagement ring which Cappuccio slipped on her finger in May. The unique wedding proposal featured an exotic elephant ride and a helicopter tour over the same falls. Later on, they celebrated a party hosted by by jewelry designer Larry Brown of Browns Jewelers, the store based on the South African capital of Johannesburg which also serves the likes of Charlize Theron.

The CBS network announced that actress Megalyn Echikunwoke will be joining the cast of CSI: Miami as the new medical examiner. Earlier, it was announced that the show was looking for someone to fill in the void left by Khandi Alexander. Echikunwoke has been cast, and she will be part of the Miami-Dade Police Department this fall.
Megalyn Echikunwoke will play a recurring character who immediately makes a good impression on Lt. Horatio Cane and his CSI team. It was reported that CBS was looking for someone to fill in the shoes for the young but wise character, Dr. Lauren Price, and it is likely but not been completely confirmed that Echikunwoke will be taking on that role.

The return of CSI: Miami, now on its seventh season, is still a good two months away. Meanwhile, the release of the season 6 DVD will not be until September 9. And there are few more loyal fans than those of CSI: Miami, so to satiate their craving, CSI Magazine is coming up with a special 100-page issue specifically on the second series in the CSI franchise, CSI: Miami.
Particularly interesting about the issue is the voting for the CSI: Miami Awards. Fans get to vote in such categories as Best Episode and Best Horatio (stoic) One-Liner. Meanwhile, for those who love Adam Rodriguez (Eric Delko), there's a treat for you, too, as he gets really intimate with an interview, talking about his friends, personal wounds, and losses.
