Coyote Ugly‘s Piper Perabo is set to headline a new USA series about a newbie CIA trainee who finds herself over her head when she gets promoted to field operative. Alias, anyone?Covert Affairs, premiering July 13 alongside the second season opener of White Collar, also stars Ugly Betty alum Christopher Gorham, who‘ll play a federal agent. Heroes‘ Sendhil Ramamurth and The OC‘s Peter Gallagher will also be onboard as another federal agent and CIA director respectively. House‘s Anne Dudek plays Danielle, a Annie‘s older sister who knows nothing of her life as a spy, while Eion Bailey will play her ex-boyfriend. Read more »
I think I‘ve gotten so used to seeing Gregory Itzin play the bad guy on television that I can‘t imagine him doing otherwise. He was, of course, sleazy former president Charles Logan on 24. And sure, you can say his character on The Mentalist was on the right side of the law, but he was still not as supportive as you hoped he would have been.Well, here‘s the chance. Entertainment Weekly reports that Itzin is joining the USA Network series Covert Affairs as Henry Wilcox, the former Director of Clandestine Services and the father of Sendhil Ramamurthy‘s character. Keaton growing up, so I‘m super-stoked to see my man Michael J. Fox is set to guest-star on an episode of The Good Wife, which returns for its second season on CBS on Sept. 28. Fox will play litigator Simon Canning, who‘s up against Alicia (Julianna Margulies) in a big class action case. According to CBS, Simon is "willing to use anything in court, including symptoms of his neurological condition, to create sympathy for his otherwise unsympathetic client: a giant pharmaceutical company." It was a big night for Glee as members of the foreign press kicked off awards season with the Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles.The Fox musical series was named Best TV Series - Comedy or Musical for a second year in a row, with Chris Colfer and Jane Lynch taking home Best Supporting Actor and Actress, respectively. HBO‘s Prohibition-era drama Boardwalk Empire was named Best TV Series - Drama, with Steve Buscemi named Best Actor - Drama. Katey Sagal was finally recognized as Best Actress - Drama for her work in FX‘s Sons of Anarchy, while Jim Parsons and Laura Linney were similarly feted.The Facebook drama The Social Network emerged as the big winner on the film front, winning four awards, including Best Motion Picture - Drama and honors for director David Fincher and writer Aaron Sorkin. The quirky comedy The Kids Are All Right went home with two awards, including Best Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical.
