Chuck: Episode 2.2, "Chuck vs. the Seduction" Recap

October 6, 2008

America - start watching Chuck, please.  It's a good show, I swear.  Really, you should totally check it out.  It's funny, there are a lot of good-looking people, there's a bunch of that spy stuff I know you like.  It's got everything, America.  Tonight's episode of Chuck is guest star heavy, and wonderfully so.  John Larroquette plays a former James Bond/suave secret agent who has relegated himself to the bottle in recent years.  Melinda Clarke (from The OC), plays the bad guy, a former KGB agent who may be in possession of the real cypher.  It was another good episode that added a sweet little twist at the end.

Previously on Chuck: The cypher was a fake, a trap, and it blew up and killed Graham in the process.  Chuck remains the intersect, and thus will remain alive until the new one is up and running.

Exclusive Video Interviews: 'Chuck' Cast Discusses Season 2 Guest Stars

October 6, 2008

Zachary Levi, ChuckSeason 2 of Chuck got off to a big start last week with special guest star Michael Clarke Duncan. It doesn't end there, however, because the new season of Chuck is full of big-time guest stars in just about every episode. Tonight at 8pm, Chuck returns with another O.C. alum in the form of Melinda Clarke and a multiple Emmy winner in John Larroquette.

When BuddyTV spoke to the cast of Chuck at the NBC fall premiere party, we asked what guest stars they were most excited about. The answers varied, though Larroquette was obviously a big favorite for many of the cast members. Should NBC Move 'Chuck' Somewhere Else?

October 1, 2008

Chuck's mostly excellent season two premiere was critically lauded, but was unable to garner excitement from the television audience.  The ratings were poor, but not surprisingly so – Chuck inhabits perhaps the most difficult time slot in the network week.  The Monday – 8pm slot is home to Chuck, Gossip Girl, The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Dancing with the Stars.  It's one thing to pit both of Josh Schwartz's shows against each other (he runs Chuck and Gossip Girl), but placing both series against such fierce competition is plain mean.  NBC curiously ordered a full second of season of Chuck before the premiere even aired. They had to have known what to expect from Chuck's ratings.

Chuck: Season 2 Premiere, "Chuck vs. The Date" Recap

September 29, 2008

Chuck Bartowski is the greatest nerd on television.  Of course, Chuck isn't really a nerd.  He's a good looking dude, isn't socially awkward, and has managed to acquire the feelings of one of television's hottest women.  And, he's also a quasi-secret agent who has all of the government's secrets stored away in his mind.  Chuck returns to NBC tonight for its second season premiere.  Josh Schwartz, Chuck's show runner, is smart enough to know that the series didn't receive great ratings last year and when you add that to the odd scheduling forced upon Chuck by the writers' strike, it was necessary to re-introduce the show to the general public.  And, that's exactly what tonight's season premiere did, and in quite enjoyable fashion.  If you liked the first season of Chuck, tonight's episode will not disappoint.

Exclusive Video Interviews: The Cast of 'Chuck' Discusses Season 2

September 29, 2008

Joshua Gomez and Sarah Lancaster, ChuckChuck has been off the air for more than nine months, so tonight's season 2 premiere at 8pm on NBC will be a test to see how the writers' strike really affected last year's freshman shows. Will the fans come back, and will new fans give it a chance?

BuddyTV attended NBC's fall premiere party and spoke to several Chuck cast members on the red carpet. Joshua Gomez, Sarah Lancaster, Ryan McPartlin and Zachary Levi all stopped by to talk about the changes for the new season. Would You Like A Thousand Dollars Worth of 'Chuck' Gadgets?

September 25, 2008

Do you like stuff?  I bet you probably do.  Most people like stuff.  Let me ask you this:  Do you like gadgets?  Gadgets are a kind of stuffs, but they are all high-tech and whatnot.  If you're not sure, just assume you like gadgets, because you almost certainly do.  One more query:  Do you like Chuck?  Not Chuck from the hardware store or Chuck from your Pilates class.  Chuck, as in NBC's Chuck, the show about a nerd who is thrust into the the spy game.  It's a funny show.  If you've answered “yes” to all of the above questions (and there's no reason to think that you didn't), you are in for the opportunity of a lifetime.  Gizmodo, the internet's number one gadget blog, is holding a contest in which one lucky man, woman or child will win one thousand dollars worth of Chuck gadgets.

Chuck: Season 2 Premiere, "Chuck vs. The Date" Early Review

September 22, 2008

Chuck returns to our television sets one week from tonight, but if you have the internet (i.e., if you are reading this right now) you can watch the entire season two premiere right here on BuddyTV, courtesy of Hulu.  If you can't find it in the corner of the screen, here is the link:

Full Episode: Chuck vs. The Date

Pretty cool, right?  These internets are downright magical sometimes.  NBC has been a big proponent of releasing new episodes of their series on the internet and On Demand before they actually air on the network.  They did it last year for Chuck's pilot, and have done it once again.  Josh Schwartz, the co-show runner of Chuck, knows that the ratings for Chuck weren't exemplary last year and that they needed to reintroduce the viewing public to the series.  Therefore, the second season premiere is something of a re-boot for Chuck, and it works well as an entry point for new viewers.
