Seasons 1 - 11

Big Brother 1 was very different to the version seen today in the U.S.A. The process of nominations and evictions differed in huge ways than to the process now seen. There was no HOH (Head of Household), so the houseguests would go into the diary room and tell production who they wanted evicted and the two houseguests with the most votes were put on the block. If the votes were split between three players, then they would all be on the block (so in theory, you could have any number of players nominated for eviction).

There was no POV, and instead of the houseguests voting on who to evict, the general public would call in for their choice to evict from the game. Notable people from this season include: "Chicken" George, Brittany Petros, and Eddie McGee.

Big Brother 2 introduced many of the basic features now seen today. This was the first year a houseguest could win immunity from eviction and would select two people nominated for eviction. There still was no POV, and no major twists at the time. This season is in Julie Chen's opinion the best season of Big Brother. Notable players included: Dr. Will Kirby, Mike "Boogie" Malin, and Hardy Hill (now seen on Bravo's "Miami Social").

Big Brother 2 - Every Episode

Big Brother 3, saw the introduction of the Power of Veto. During the first 8 weeks of the season the veto could only be won by someone not on the block, as the nominees could not save themselves, and would have to depend on someone else using it on one of the nominees. During week 9 (Final 5) this changed and the "Golden Power of Veto" was introduced, where a nominee could win the power and remove themselves. This is the veto we have had ever since, with absolutely no deviation other than in season 4. Notable players include: Marcellas Reynolds, and Danielle Reyes.

Big Brother 3 - Every Episode

Big Brother 4, was the first time a major twist was introduced to the game for only one season. The sub-title to this season was The X-Factor, and every houseguest from this season had a previous boyfriend or girlfriend enter the house (other than Dana, Jack, and Nathan). This was the first season since season 1 to not have any game changing powers, different than the ones given after season three. The 'Diamond' veto, was the last veto given of the summer, so as it was the most important competition, they changed the color and name to make it more dramatic, than it really was. Notable Players include: Allison Irwin, Jun Song, and Erika Landin.
