The big stories include Glee casting two new actors for season 4 and American Idol‘s expansive new auditions strategy. Later this month FOX will premiere its new comedy, Ben and Kate, which follows the chaotic lives of a brother and sister. Before it airs here are some casting updates. According to Deadline, The Finder star Geoff Stults has landed a recurring role as single parent who happens to be Kate‘s (Dakota Johnson) love interest, a single mom trying to raise her daughter, Maddie (Maggie Elizabeth Jones). "Geoff is a tall hunk of man who makes me laugh," expresses Sharon Klein, 20th TV‘s head of casting. "He‘s the ultimate ‘man‘s man‘ and ‘ladies man.‘ He‘s a big TV star who proved he can anchor a show with his dry wit on The Finder".  Stults‘ first appearance is during Ben and Kate‘s Halloween episode, which is set to air on October 30. Read more »
I have never felt so conflicted about a show than I am about Ben and Kate. This new FOX comedy seemingly has everything I like -- excellent acting, solid storytelling, an interesting plot. And yet, somehow, I didn‘t really like this show the way I should have.I think that‘s because I was expecting the comedy to be funny. In that, I was disappointed. Read more »
