Previously on Beauty and the Geek, the geeks dominated the beauties in the first ever Beauty and the Geek talent show. When faced with their first elimination, some of the beauties chose to flirt instead of study. Amber failed to answer any questions in the elimination, so she was sent home. Tonight, the social experiment will continue to evolve.
Tonight's Beauty and the Geek begins immediately after last week's elimination. Tommy hopes that Amber is coming back. Each of the other girls walks into the room, one-by-one, and poor Tommy has a stricken look on his face because Amber is not among them. Not to be deterred, Tommy insists that as soon as the show is over, he's going to continue his budding relationship with Amber because, by golly, he wants to date a supermodel, gosh darnit!

On Tuesday night, Amber became the first beauty to be eliminated from season 5 of Beauty and the Geek. Contrary to the premise of the show, she left the mansion completely unchanged. She didn't learn a thing during her time on Beauty and the Geek (her words, not mine). I wanted to get an interview with her after her elimination, but unfortunately, Amber was unavailable for comment. Frankly, I'm disappointed because I was looking forward to talking to her, if for nothing else than to ask her what really sparked that huge fight she had with fellow beauty Randi.
Who is Amber? What's going on inside her head? This being the Age of the Internets, we can actually do some sleuthing ourselves to find out the answers to these questions. Here's what she wrote about herself on her MySpace page.

Previously on Beauty and the Geek, nine beauties and nine geeks met for the first time. They found out that they would be competing against each other, and the beauties immediately set about strategizing. Tensions rose between Randi and Amber, and their big, colossal fight sent Jim running to go get some popcorn. In the new elimination room, John E. wasn't quick enough with the buzzer, and he became the first person to be ejected from season 5 of Beauty and the Geek.
Tonight's episode of Beauty and the Geek begins immediately post-elimination. Everyone cheers for the returning geeks. Amber is happy to see Tommy back. She's a little gold-digger in the making—she likes Tom because he's good-looking (and not a real geek, I still maintain) and he'll be rich someday. Cara is happy to see Chris and his rhinestone-encrusted pink hat. Tara isn't too keen to see Jonathan bad because she thinks he's an odd duck.

Someone has to be the first to go. On season 5 of Beauty and the Geek, that someone is John English. He is a recovering Microsoft addict, and was a child genius, but he just wasn't quick enough with the buzzer to survive the elimination round.
John spoke to BuddyTV today about his thoughts on the new format of Beauty and the Geek, about his secret techniques for getting phone numbers at a bar, and what it means to be a recovering Microsoft addict.
Below, you will find an audiofile and a complete transcript of the interview.

The CW's Beauty and the Geek premiered its fifth season Tuesday night, but even the show's new twist that pits the male brainiacs against the pretty ladies wasn't enough to put an end to the network's ratings woes.
Beauty and the Geek's fifth season premiere lost around half of its usual viewership. It earned a mere 1.9 million viewers and a preliminary 0.9 rating/ 2 share in adults 18-49. The figures reflect a 47 percent decrease from its season debut last fall and a 59 percent decrease from its January debut last year.

Welcome to the season premiere of that lovely social experiment we know and love, Beauty and the Geek. This season, the experiment has changed in a very material way. Instead of being paired up in beauty/geek pairs, the competition will be beauties versus geeks. What hasn't changed, however, is that there are remarkable transformations in store for us this season, not to mention that there will also be that $250,000 pot at the end of the competition.
Tonight's episode of Beauty and the Geek begins when the nine male geeks pull up in a GeekMobile and arrive at a hangar. The doors open, and in comes a jet, the AirBeauty. The beauties walk out, looking very sultry and gorgeous. It's cute to see the geeks' jaws drops. In the confessional room, Cara the aspiring soap star admits that she can't tell time. Leticia, confessionals that she doesn't like girls because they lie too much. I hope she gets along with the boys.

When Leticia Cline was chosen to appear on the new season of Beauty and the Geek, she was nervous and happy at the same time. Nervous because she was a stranger to the show and happy because she knew the contestants end up helping each other through the experience.
“I really hadn't watched the show before, but I like it because it is a self-help show,” Cline told the Glasgow Daily Times. “The beauties help the geeks and the geeks help the beauties in a way.”

On Tuesday, I presented you with my preseason ranked list of all the geeks on season 5 of Beauty and the Geek, and today I will do the same for the beauties. Just as it was difficult making judgments on the geeks based on a handful of words and a photo, it's actually even more difficult doing so for the beauties because they all seem so similar on paper. How many different kinds of models can there be, anyway? However, never fear, I have done all the hard work for you and have carefully pored through all the details that have been made public about these beauties in order to rank them.
Below, please find my Beauty and the Geek Preseason Power Rankings of the beauties.
