Articles for America's Next Top Model Season 12

Starting tonight, models will be invading your television and controlling your Wednesday evenings. The only thing to do is give in to their fierce, fabulous, fashion charms and fall prey to their poses and sob-stories. Tonight the biggest modeling shows on television both debut their latest batch of hopeful models, with three hours filled to the brim with Tyra-isms and the ever hot Tyson Beckford.First up is the premiere of the 12th Cycle of America‘s Next Top Model. Thanks to a pushed back debut date, you will be treated to two back-to-back hours of Tyra and her latest batch of Top Model hopefuls. The two hour debut is sure to be filled with sob stories, awkward auditions, and hopefully a completely crazy Tyra entrance. (Can she out-crazy last years Tyra-bot? I can only hope.) After Tyra‘s first declaration of "you are no longer in the running to be America‘s Next Top Model," there is an hour long fashion-free lull before Bravo‘s take on the modeling show, Make Me A Supermodel. In comparison to ANTM, Make Me A Supermodel is still in it‘s infancy as modeling--but it has also learned from ANTM‘s mistakes. Make Me A Supermodel is more modeling and less reality TV filler and for the second season in a row, they have a much stronger looking cast of high-fashion hopefuls. Read more »
.Join me while we take a two hour strut down the crazy runway that is America‘s Next Top Model. I‘ll be recapping the premiere episode of ANTM‘s 12th Cycle live, so keep me company and tell me what you think of this Cycle‘s crop of Top Model hopefuls.Cycle 12 starts in Las Vegas, Nevada. Apparently Tyra loves Las Vegas, she says Top Model has a lucky number and that number is 21. Thus she is happy because 12 is 21 backwards--Tyra is definitely bringing the crazy tonight. Read more »
This week‘s episode of America‘s Next Top Model is all about make-overs. Instead of making us wait a few eliminations for the always awesome make over episode, Tyra and Co. have cut right to the drama-filled dye jobs. This guarantees there will be at least: one make over meltdown, one awful weave, and at least two girls who should never go near a bottle of peroxide becoming platinum blonde. We‘re excited to see who Tyra waves her magic blonde wand over, though we are worried that she‘ll take the edge away from some of our favorite contestants if she turns them girl-next-door blonde. Read more »
Makeover madness hits America‘s Next Top Model this week. Read along with me to see who has a makeover melt down, who becomes platinum blonde, and who gets the worst weave of Cycle 12. Read more »
Last week, we met this cycle‘s 13 Top Model hopefuls. This week, we will see the remaining 12 modelettes transformed by the hand of Tyra and her magic blonde wand, in the always-anticipated makeover episode. While I always love the episode, I have to admit the makeover challenge always makes me a little nervous. Lord knows Tyra has destroyed the natural beauty of many a contestant with a bad weave, severe haircut, or Tyra‘s favorite makeover: the ill-fated platinum blonde dye job. On the other hand, every once in a while Tyra‘s makeover knocks it out of the park and helps us discover the model in a contestant. Plus, someone always freaks out about their makeover and from what I hear, this year‘s salon melt down is a doozie. Read more »
Last week, we were treated to some of the worst makeovers in ANTM history, which is saying something. This week, we have to deal with the ramifications of a bunch of new blondes and bad weaves. Though hopefully at least one of those bad weaves will be remedied this week, since Tyra promised to fix Teyona‘s extra-long, extra-ghetto jheri curl.If last week was all about makeovers, this week is all about runway. The remaining modelettes are treated to the traditional Miss J runway teach, which this Cycle will have a charm school theme. While Miss J‘s runway school will surely suit some of the models, we‘ve seen that Celia can serve a serious strut just in judges panel and Aminat blew the judges away with her runway walk during this cycle‘s premiere. However, just like the makeovers, what we‘re most interested in is the runway disasters, which there promises to be plenty of. Based on the initial runway walks we saw in the premiere, it looks like Miss J is going to have his hands full with all kinds of awkward, especially with Allison. Of course, we‘re all wondering if during this week‘s challenge, Sandra can actually manage to walk the full length of the catwalk. Read more »
Last week‘s America‘s Next Top Model was all about makeovers, and this week the transformation will continue. With their brand new hair-do‘s (and plenty of don‘ts) the girls will be schooled in runway etiquette and charm by the one and only Miss J. Just like the makeover episode, Miss J‘s runway school is always an episode to look forward to, especially since Miss J‘s teachings get more ridiculous with every cycle. And of course, there‘s a hilarious humiliation aspect to the episode, because without fail at least one of the girls will somehow look like she has never walked before taking her first runway steps. (Our bets for this cycle‘s awful walker? All signs point to Allison.) Read more »
Take a trip (and perhaps a stumble) down the Top Model runway with me tonight, as the girls are treated to a runway etiquette lesson by Miss J. Lets watch together and see who is a runway natural and who who will have this cycle‘s worst walk. Read more »
This morning I had the pleasure of chatting with Jessica, the second girl to be eliminated from Cycle 12 of America‘s Next Top Model.Despite her coming across as cocky during her short time on ANTM, Jessica was a total sweetheart and happily chatted with me about confidence, her dream modeling job, and how her little sister cried when she was eliminated last night. Read more »
This morning I had the pleasure of chatting with Isabella, the first model hopeful sent home from Cycle 12 of America‘s Next Top Model. Isabella was just as she had appeared on the show: sweet, charming, and well-spoken. If ANTM was an interview contest, Isabella would win the thing hands down. We chatted about Tyra‘s dramatic entrance as the Goddess of Fierce, how long it takes to shoot an hour of ANTM, and what‘s next for Isabella.  Read more »
Only 4 Episodes in to Cycle 12 of America‘s Next Top Model and we‘ve already had makeovers and a Miss J runway teach. It seems like this cycle is running on fast forward when it comes to the Top Model segments we look forward to every cycle. So it should be no surprise that in this week‘s episode, the girls are checking off another Top Model milestone with posing lessons from Benny Ninja. Just bring in the Swirl-A-Whirl Twins in for their teach, and the girls will have checked off every tried-and-true Tyra guest-teach, all before the half way point of the season! Read more »
They may have joined America‘s Next Top Model, but they‘re definitely not limited to that.  Two contestants from past cycles of the series have gained international attention, far from their place of origin.  What‘s more, the work they snagged was on the renowned publication Vogue, which is saying a lot.  Tyra probably didn‘t foresee this when she eliminated them from the competition.First off is Cycle 6‘s Mollie Sue Steenis-Gondi, who got kicked off the sixth episode of that year‘s America‘s Next Top Model.  She landed in the bottom two, due to her inability to exude attitude in her CoverGirl commercial shoot. Read more »
With the fashion industry being as fast-paced as it is, the ladies from America‘s Next Top Model have surely been keeping themselves busy.  These girls are branching out, particularly the ones from the series‘ 11th Cycle.  Read on to find out what‘s new with notable contestants such as Isis King and Analeigh Tipton.  Just last month, Cycle 11 model Isis King began her gender reassignment surgery, which went on successfully last week.  As the first transwoman to compete on America‘s Next Top Model, Isis brought wider attention to issues of gender expression.  Even though she was eliminated on the series‘ fifth episode, she regularly appeared on The Tyra Banks Show.  There, her story was followed as Tyra aided her in her surgery and arranged for it to be done by Dr. Marci Bowers. Read more »
Being a part of a reality series might be quite a riot to some, but it never got as gruesome as this.  Last Saturday, three people were arrested after a chaotic America‘s Next Top Model Cycle 13 audition at a New York hotel.  The authorities also revealed that six more were injured, with two of them seeking treatment at a hospital.Unfortunately, the police have not confirmed what caused the frenzy, but are looking into what might have provoked it.  There were three people who were charged with disorderly conduct and inciting a riot.  This was in connection with the said Manhattan incident at the Park Central New York hotel. Read more »
Tyra Banks can‘t help but rave about the newest batch on America‘s Next Top Model, simply because each contestant stands out in truly unique ways.  It‘s obvious by how they worked hard on the series premiere‘s photo shoot, dubbed “Return to Innocence.”  The aspiring models showed off their skills, and the show‘s host didn‘t dare turn away.“This is a very special group of girls,” Tyra Banks exclaimed.  “I want them to connect with viewers, and not just with their looks, but with their personalities.”  Surely, every model has his or her quirks.  For this group, one bears scars on her body from an accidental scalding during childhood, while another is a street preacher.  And once again, Tyra Banks is pushing the boundaries to counter stereotypes.  Read more »
Catwalk or not, you can still wear America‘s Next Top Model clothes with pride.  CBS Consumer Products, which is a division of CBS Entertainment, has announced the launch of its exclusive Top Model clothing and accessories line at Walmart Stores, Inc.  From T-shirts to fragrances, this sensational collection will surely delight any fan of the hit reality series.“Walmart‘s America‘s Next Top Model collection makes fashion accessible to young women,” declared Liz Kaloner, Executive Vice President and General Manager of CBS Consumer Products.  “It enables women to explore a world in which creativity and individuality are valued.” Read more »
The girls from past cycles give the series its due as they returned for a runway show during the America‘s Next Top Model Obsessed party.  Though the event was held earlier this year, the thrill of seeing these ladies on the catwalk has surely not died down.  The runway special was hosted by none other than Miss Jay, and featured the fierce castoffs from all Top Model cycles.Below, you can find the video of the whole show.  It runs for about ten minutes, with 28 of your America‘s Next Top Model favorites and of course, the spirited Miss Jay.   Read more »
Editor‘s Note: This is a weekly guest post from the TV staff at Film.com. Check back here on Wednesdays for more Film.com stories about your favorite shows: Big Brother, The Amazing Race, Dancing with the Stars, Survivor, American Idol and America‘s Next Top Model.By Susan Young, Film.comAnd the survey says…almost 25 percent of women 18 to 34 polled would rather win America’s Next Top Model than the Nobel Peace Prize.Well, they probably figure they can always grab that prize when the blush is off the rose, so why waste the beauty years, right? Read more »
Last week was all about the runway, while this week‘s America‘s Next Top Model will be all about posing. That means one of our absolute favorite ANTM guests, Benny Ninja will make an appearance, as he tries to teach these girls what a fierce poser is made of. The girls will be putting Benny‘s posing lessons to work in a posing challenge and in this week‘s vintage-inspired photo shoot at New York‘s historic Ellis Island. The fact that the episode is all about posing will surely benefit some of this Cycle‘s natural posers: London and Fo. I just know that both these ladies, while short in stature, are going to serve up some gigantic poses. Each cycle Benny Ninja falls in love with one girl, and we predict that this Cycle it will be London. Though jack-of-all-trades Celia and the awkward adorableness of Allison may also impress Mr. Ninja. (Yes, I had to call him Mr. Ninja, at least once.) Read more »
Who will be this cycle‘s fierce poser and who couldn‘t strike a solid pose if their (reality TV) life depended on it? Find out with me tonight, as we watch America‘s Next Top Model together.I wonder this every time, but why is the introduction credit to America‘s Next Top Model more about Tyra than the girls competing on her show? Tyra gets equal, if not more, screen time in that intro than all the girls combined. Admit it Tyra, you want to be America‘s Next Top Model. Did you all see The Soup‘s "America‘s Next Top Tyra" spoof ? It‘s funny, because it‘s so true. Read more »
This morning I had the pleasure of having a chat and a laugh with Kortnie Coles, the latest model to be eliminated on America‘s Next Top Model. Kortnie and I talked about being the lone plus sized model in the house, being the clown of the cycle, and her thoughts on the upcoming "short girls" cycle of ANTM. Just as she was on the show, Kortnie was hilarious and she had plenty of insight on this cycle‘s drama queen and who she hopes will take home the title of America‘s Next Top Model. Read more »
The first transgender contestant on the CW‘s America‘s Next Top Model is making headlines again, and turning even more heads.  Isis King recently appeared on the Tyra Banks Show, opening up about her sex change operation and on finally becoming a woman.  Of course, that includes a new life with her boyfriend, Desmond. The 23-year-old model was known for getting eliminated off the fifth episode of the renowned reality series‘ 11th Cycle.  It was due to her reservations about wearing a bikini, as well as being hesitant about doing the water-themed photo shoot.  In November last year, Tyra decided to help her out and introduce her to a surgeon who would later pay for the operation to turn her into a woman.  The procedure ended up a success, with Isis talking about the experience in public at last. Read more »
Last week‘s America‘s Next Top Model had one of those moments that will go down in Top Model history. It will be something that is replayed on clip show after clip show. A moment  that will be referred to by fans as a pinnacle of Top Model drama. I am, of course, speaking of Celia‘s attempted Top Model mutiny at judge‘s panel. It‘s all Top Model fans are talking about: was Celia in the right or wrong telling Tyra that Tahlia had said she wanted to leave the competition? 355 of you have voted in a BuddyTV poll on that very topic, with 72% of you saying that Celia was "way out of line" for bringing up Tahlia‘s negative comments at panel. Only 28% of you said that "someone had to" bring up Tahlia‘s comments to Tyra. Read more »

The drama is on in the Top Model house this week, and surprisingly little of it comes from Sandra. After last week‘s confrontation-filled judges‘ panel, where Celia outed Tahlia as wanting to go home, the house has been divided between Team Tahlia and Team Celia. This cycle‘s well-spoken, one-liner filled drama fan, Aminat, is especially upset about what went down at judges‘ panel. However much of Aminat‘s anger is focused on the girls who plotted with Celia, rather than Celia herself. If they didn‘t know better about physical fighting on the show, it looks like the Aminat and Natalie might have come to blows. Read more »
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like behind the glamour of the modeling industry, you might want to listen to America’s Next Top Model Cycle 7 winner CariDee English.  On a recent interview with the Chicago Tribune, she revealed what her LA life at home is like.  Staying at a four-bedroom “palace” seems a bit extravagant, but she’s one reality TV star who’s not holding back.“I live by myself. I love it,” English exclaimed.  While it may seem lonely for her, she keeps two cats – Diva and Vogue - around for company.  There’s obviously plenty of space to share, since her place has four bedrooms, five baths, 20-foot ceilings, with a music room and hookah lounge to boot. Read more »
If the promo videos are any indication, the drama has only just begun on America‘s Next Top Model. Tonight the drama will continue to escalate and the Top Model house will be divided between Team Tahlia and Team Celia. As the models take sides, watch along with me to see who survives to fight another day and who will be consumed by the drama. Read more »

On this week‘s America‘s Next Top Model, Sandra Nyanchoka was eliminated for only having one strong pose. While many ANTM fans are glad that the cycle‘s drama queen is gone, others lament the loss of one of the competitions most fashion forward models. This morning we had the chance to chat with Sandra about her time on America‘s Next Top Model, being portrayed as the cycle‘s bitch, and who she thinks will be America‘s Next Top Model. Read more »
In honor of Sandra, our pre-cycle pick to win it all, being eliminated from America‘s Next Top Model; we‘ve created a slideshow of girls we loved more at first sight than when we got to know them. These girls were our pre-season favorites or early favorites -- who we just knew had oodles of potential and had what it took to win it all -- only to be disappointed by their performance, photos, and early eliminations. Behold, our Initial Favorites Who Failed Us: Read more »
Last week the drama in the Top Model house reached a boiling point, dividing the house into two sides. This week, the drama continues, when the girls are challenged to the time-honored ANTM acting challenge and teach. While other cycle‘s have seen actors like Taye Diggs stop by to help the models, this cycle the girls are coached by American Idol star Clay Aiken. While I would be disappointed by Clay Aiken showing up for my acting teach, the girls scream like Brad Pitt just showed up on set. Which leaves me asking the age old question, why do grown straight women scream for Clay Aiken? Also, not to be nit picky, but save Spamalot, is Clay Aiken an actor? Was everyone from the other CW shows busy this cycle? Read more »

On last week‘s America‘s Next Top Model, drama divided the Top Model house. On this week‘s America‘s Next Top Model, drama will bring the girls back together in an acting challenge with Clay Aiken. This morning I had the pleasure of chatting with Tahlia Brookins, the latest girl to be eliminated from Cycle 12 of America‘s Next Top Model. The insecurities that plagued Tahlia during her time on Top Model weren‘t at all noticeable on the phone, as she spoke freely and strongly about her fellow competitors and future. Tahlia and I chatted about the unique way she came to be on Top Model, an adorable unseen moment from her favorite photo shoot, and how she and Celia got a good laugh when everyone but them fought their fight. Read more »
Since last night‘s America‘s Next Top Model didn‘t have a photo shoot component, this week‘s "Best and Worst" is coming to you in article form. Last night, the girls got their first chance to impress the judges and Cover Girl with their easy, breezy, beautiful spokesmodel potential. Unfortunately, only one of the girls performance pleased the judges, and the rest of the performances fell flat. Tyra called the girls‘ performance on a whole "dreadful," while I would just say it was mediocre.Unlike previous cycles, there were no outright disastrous commercial takes--this group of girls were surprisingly good at memorizing their lines-- however, none of them embodied the carefree charm that Cover Girl requires of their spokesmodels. Hopefully, with a few more teaches and a lot more practice, one of the girls will emerge as a competent Cover Girl. Until then, here is the ranking of the best and worst performances from last night‘s less than inspiring Cover Girl commercials. Read more »
We‘re down to the final seven girls on America‘s Next Top Model and only one elimination away from the girls going abroad. Last week was all about acting and portraying a character, and of course, Clay Aiken. This week the girls get to see another side of the modeling world, as they step into Mister Jay‘s shoes as creative director for a photo shoot. Seeing that the girls are styling and directing one of their competitors photo shoots, there‘s the possibility one of the girls will attempt to sabotage the competition. By the looks of the video below, that girl will not be Celia. She seems to be giving pretty good advice to Fo, who‘s photo shoot she is directing: Read more »

This morning I had the pleasure of chatting with London, the most recent contestant to be eliminated from America‘s Next Top Model.Just as she was on the show, London was a delightful mix of goofy and serious, answering questions with surprising candor and lots of charm. London and I talked about her unique sense of style, how she avoided drama in the house, and the real shocking reason she gained weight during her time on Top Model. We discussed the alternate universe of living in a house plastered with Tyra Banks photos, what it was like styling and photographing Allison, and who she thinks will be crowned America‘s Next Top Model. Read more »
It‘s down to the top seven on America‘s Next Top Model, and we are just one elimination away from heading off to this Cycle‘s exotic foreign location. Watch along with me tonight, as we discover who we will be wishing "bon voyage" to, and who will be saying "adios" to their dreams of becoming America‘s Next Top Model. The introductory recap said last week‘s Cover Girl commercials were a fiasco. Do you think this year‘s Cover Girl commercials were really that much worse than other Cycle‘s? I think, as usual, Tyra might be over-stating it. The commercials were completely mediocre and rather unremarkable, but there were no all-out disastrous ones, unlike every other cycle has had. Read more »

This week, the girls are leaving the comfortable confines of the Top Model house and going abroad to beautiful Brazil. While five of the girls are on cloud nine about arriving in Brazil, one girl is feeling seriously burnt out on the competition. This morning I had the pleasure of chatting with Natalie Pack, thelatest girl to be eliminated from America‘s Next Top Model. Despite the fact that Natalie was the most modelesque of the contestants, she was eliminated for her one-note photos. It‘s go-see time this week on America‘s Next Top Model. The go see episode is always one of my favorite episode every cycle. Not only are ANTM hopefuls apparently the most directionally challenged people in the universe, we finally get to see someone other than Tyra Banks and her minions suss up the potential for each remaining contestant.Brazilian go-sees should be especially interesting. Not only is there the potential language barrier, but Brazilian fashion and beauty ideals are very different than in New York City or Paris. Brazil is home to some of the most beautiful women in the world and has spawned a whole new generation of supermodels. Think Giselle Bundchen, Adriana Lima, and Alessandra Ambrosio. That being said, the worry is the girls from America‘s Next Top Model just won‘t cut it in the eyes of the Brazilian fashion elite. Celia will be too harsh looking, Allison too strange, Fo is too short, Teyona is too severe, and Aminat looks like a man in her photos. Will this be the first time an ANTM model doesn‘t book a go-see? We‘ll have to wait and see. Until Wednesday, enjoy the video previews of this week‘s episode.  Read more »

It‘s down to the final five on America‘s Next Top Model and this week is all about the always interesting go-sees. For the first time all season, we get to see what someone other than Tyra Banks and Co. think of the models and their potential to make it in the fashion world. The go-sees are notorious for making and breaking Top Model hopefuls and this cycle should be no different. Watch along with me to see who has what it takes to make it in the real world of modeling and whose dream of being America‘s Next Top Model will end tonight. It‘s almost Top Model time! It‘s down to the fierce final four on Cycle 12 of America‘s Next Top Model: Allison, Aminat, Celia and Teyona. And what a final four it is! While it‘s certainly not the last girls we predicted would be standing, Tyra has stacked the end of the competition with the edgiest final four in the history of America‘s Next Top Model. None of the remaining models scream Cover Girl or Seventeen magazine, which is sure to make the last two episodes of the cycle fascinating. With just one elimination standing between the girls and the finale, the competition is more intense than ever. This week, the girls will be photographed by Tyra herself. In a change from her traditional black and white beauty shots, Tyra is photographing the girls as avant garde avians in celebration of the exotic birds of Brazil. We‘re one episode away from the finale of Cycle 12 of America‘s Next Top Model and it‘s down to the fierce final four: Allison, Aminat, Celia, and Teyona. With a single elimination standing between the girls and the finale, it‘s do or die time for the models, especially since Tyra Banks will be photographing them this week. As we‘ve seen in previous cycle‘s, a photo shoot with Tyra can make or break a girl in this competition. If Tyra loves photographing you: your stock is rising. If Tyra doesn‘t enjoy photographing you: watch out. For her Cycle 12 photo shoot Tyra is stepping out of her comfort zone of black and white beauty shots to photograph the girls as the colorful exotic birds of Brazil. The avian theme of the photo shoot certainly has us asking: who will soar above the competition and who will come crashing to the ground?Watch with me tonight as we discover together who will be in next week‘s big finale. After the show, be sure to log on to Twitter and tweet me some questions for my interview tomorrow morning with whoever is eliminated tonight. Read more »

Yesterday afternoon I had the pleasure of chatting with Celia Ammerman, the latest girl to be eliminated from America‘s Next Top Model. I‘ve been looking forward to interviewing Celia all cycle, though I had hoped it would be after the finale, and Celia certainly did not disappoint.  During her interview, Celia was the epitome of charm and wit, and I am quite certain that whatever she was wearing while we chatted, was absolutely fabulous.During her time on America‘s Next Top Model, Celia became a surprising fan favorite, while remaining a divisive character amongst ANTM fans. While Celia wasn‘t your traditional America‘s Next Top Model contestant, that‘s what made her such an enjoyable addition to the show. Celia provided a number of firsts for ANTM. Most impressively, Celia seemed to be the first girl who Tyra praised, rather than lectured for her fashion choices. Beyond her fabulous fashion sense, Celia added intelligent dialogue filled with wit and charm galore, to the cycle. But it wasn‘t just Celia‘s charming personality and enviable wardrobe that enamored ANTM watchers; week after week Celia turned in some of the strongest performances in photo shoots and challenges, amassing arguably the strongest portfolio of any girl this cycle. Of course, not everyone loved Celia. Celia lost many supporters after confronting Tahlia at panel and many of you were not keen on Celia‘s angular, androgynous features.Celia and I chatted about her superb sense of style, what we didn‘t see at the fateful panel when she confronted Tahlia, how America‘s Next Top Model could have had her at 23, but chose to take her at the "too old" 25, and how she‘s still confused as to how enjoying herself or wanting to be America‘s Next Top Model was a bad thing in the judges minds.  Read more »
It‘s finale time folks! How did that happen so quickly? It seems like just yesterday we were being introduced to the girls and Tyra was declaring herself the Goddess of Fierce. Since we are all well acquainted with the America‘s Next Top Model finale equation we know that this week‘s episode will contain: a Cover Girl photo shoot, the filming of a Cover Girl commercial, and a runway battle royale between the last two models standing. Because it‘s the finale and ANTM wants some semblance of surprise for the final two, the promo videos are a little short on details or depth. Read more »

It‘s almost finale time for the 12th cycle of America‘s Next Top Model. Only three girls remain: Allison, Aminat, and Teyona and you couldn‘t have three more different girls in the finale. Allison is a unique beauty, with oodles of editorial and avant garde potential, Aminat has all the makings of a supermodel but hasn‘t found how to channel it off the runway, and there‘s Teyona who has wowed the judges with her consistently strong photos and alien beauty. One lucky model will receive the grand prize, which we can all recite by heart now: a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl cosmetics, and the cover and six-page fashion spread in Seventeen magazine. Each day leading up to the finale, we‘ll explore why each finalist could walk away the winner. Today, we take a closer look at Aminat.* Read: Why Allison Will Win * * Read: Why Teyona Will Win *  Read more »

Looks like tomorrow‘s finale won‘t just be Allison, Aminat, and Teyona‘s last time on America‘s Next Top Model, the finale will also be judge Paulina Porizkova‘s last ANTM appearance. During an apperance on tonight‘s Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Paulina says she was let go by Tyra Banks and America‘s Next Top Model. When Craig Ferguson asked Paulina how it was working with Tyra Banks, Paulina broke the shocking news. "Listen, do you know why I am in Los Angeles...because I am looking for a job. Because I was fired by America‘s Next Top Model on my birthday." A birthday firing? Ouch!   Read more »

Another cycle of America‘s Next Top Model has come to an end, and again I am left feeling disappointed. I‘m used to my favorite not winning America‘s Next Top Model, you‘d have to go back many many cycle‘s to find a winner I was really rooting for. (Cycle 7, when I was cheering for the victorious CariDee English, to be exact.) And it‘s not that I‘m a sore loser, I‘m not, I swear. It‘s the fact that the judges personal favorites and the will of the brand name sponsors have so clearly become the rulers of America‘s Next Top Model.   Read more »
It‘s finale time folks! The field has been narrowed from 13 Top Model hopefuls to three potential winners from opposite ends of the fashion spectrum: Allison, Aminat, and Teyona. Allison is a unique beauty, with oodles of editorial and avant garde potential, Aminat has all the makings of a supermodel but hasn‘t found how to channel it off the runway, and Teyona who has wowed the judges with her consistently strong photos and alien beauty. Tonight we will learn which of these girls will be America‘s Next Top Model; though most of us who‘ve been watching closely already have a pretty good idea who will be walking away with the win tonight. Before the show starts, be sure to read my arguments as to why each girl could win America‘s Next Top Model:* Why Allison Will Win ** Why Aminat Will Win * * Why Teyona Will Win *Then, watch along with me as we discover who will be named America‘s Next Top Model. And if you have any questions for the final three, send them my way over at BuddyTV‘s Twitter. Over the next two days I‘ll be interviewing all three girls about their time on Top Model and I‘d love to get answers to the questions you‘re dying to ask.  Read more »
This morning, the girls of Cycle 12 reunited on Tyra Banks‘ other show to reminisce about their time on Top Model. Between chatting about the drama and friendships created on the show, one contestant shared some very big news: Tahlia Brookins announced she is pregnant. For reasons that escape our understanding, Tyra insisted that all the girls wear bikinis on stage. (Because you know, nothing is more flattering than sitting in an arm chair in a bikini.) However, the fact that the girls were wearing itty-bitty two-pieces, allowed Tyra to ask, in her usual subtle manner, why Tahlia was clutching her stomach. "Speaking of Tahlia, you‘ve been holding your tummy this whole time. And you‘re not covering your scars, because we know you‘re very proud of your scars. Why are you holding your stomach?" To which Tahlia responded, "I just so happen to be pregnant." In a move that is just as confusing as the insistence that the girls wear bikinis on stage, the crowd goes wild for Tahlia‘s news. Because, you know, 18-year-old unwed mothers are such a very good thing. Read more »
Turns out we‘re not the only person enamored with Celia and her signature sense of style. Last week Celia did a fashion spread and interview with the New York Post about her signature style and her top five looks for spring. For the spread, Celia modeled looks for work, a night out on the town, the beach, a hot date, and a playful day-to-day look. The photo shoot was Celia‘s first since her ANTM elimination, but we doubt it will be her last. With Celia‘s unique look, strong photos, encyclopedic fashion knowledge, and articulate confidence, we foresee designers clamoring to work with her. Read more »
Yesterday I had the pleasure of chatting with Aminat Ayinde the third runner up of Cycle 12 of America‘s Next Top Model.Throughout the Cycle Aminat wowed the judges with her enviable body, which Tyra described to her rival supermodel Naomi Campbell‘s, her signature strut, and her true top model potential. Fans loved and loved to hate Aminat for the drama she brought to the house, her brutal honesty, and her now infamous "S-T-U-P-I-D" insult. During her interview Aminat showed plenty of the personality that made her such a divisive character all cycle, but I found her to be full of charm and spunk. Aminat and I chatted about about the ironic way she came to be on America‘s Next Top Model, what it felt like to be told her body compared to a supermodel, and how she hopes to walk on every single major runway in the future.  Read more »
Yesterday I had the pleasure of chatting with Allison Harvard, the runner up of Cycle 12 of America‘s Next Top Model. Allison was an unlikely contestant and fan favorite for America‘s Next Top Model with her unique fashion-forward look and quirky personality. Allison endeared herself to fans by being unafraid to show what a "square" she was and for her geeky uncontrolled outbursts, like telling Tyra she was "so pretty" or that she was jealous of her nose bleeds. After struggling with Allison‘s ‘one look,‘ the judges came to appreciate Allison‘s edgy editorial features and she won three of the final four photo challenges.Allison and I chatted about her surreal time on America‘s Next Top Model, her dream modeling job, her unique aesthetic, and getting rid of her big blonde mane. Read more »
Today I had the pleasure of talking with Teyona Anderson, the winner of Cycle 12 of America‘s Next Top Model.Teyona won America‘s Next Top Model with one of the most dominant performances in the history of the show. The finale was the first time she was in the bottom two. And only one of Teyona‘s photos before had found her below the top three in call-out order. From day one the judges were enamored with Teyona‘s unique alien beauty and even created a new adjective to describe her face, "wind blown."Teyona and I talked about her favorite ANTM moment that we didn‘t see on TV, the surprising judge she felt the most support from, how while the rest of us knew she was winning, she wasn‘t so sure and what about being America‘s Next Top Model is most exciting.  Read more »
It never seemed as though the bitter realities of life could hit reality television, but that‘s been proven wrong when judge Paulina Porizkova was fired from her job on America‘s Next Top Model.  What‘s worse is that it happened on her birthday, which is certainly enough to make one vengeful.  She spoke about her experience on a recent interview with TV Guide, and made headlines for pointing out what she really thought of the girls on the show. Asked about the Cycle 12 finale, Paulina revealed what really happened.  She didn‘t vote for the latest winner, Teyona Anderson, but for runner-up Allison Harvard.  "Well, I‘m not going to name names," the former America‘s Next Top Model judge announced.  "But two of us voted for Allison and two of us voted for Teyona and one of us had to cross the line over to the other one." Read more »

Fashion and Reality Television have formed a special bond over the past television seasons. America‘s Next Top Model just finished cycle 12, Project Runway will be airing its sixth season later this year. TLC, Bravo and Oxygen have dominated our fashion-centric television for years. So how do we navigate our way through the fashion genre? We‘ve put together a list of fashion-centric television that might strike your interest. Within the list, we discuss the type, description and "watchability" of each show to help you better navigate the fashion realm. We‘ve limited to reality TV sorts of fashion shows because including Gossip Girl, American Idol (they have talked about fashion a lot more this season, haven‘t they?) and other quality primetime programming would just get too confusing. Read more »
