Articles for America's Next Top Model Season 10

Yay!  America‘s Next Top Model has returned for a glorious tenth cycle.  I have a good feeling this time around.  Fans have been let down by the last few cycles but with a new judge and a new crop of young hopefuls, I‘m really looking forward to seeing what cycle 10 has to offer.  Tonight, 30 women will be narrowed down to a group of 14 finalists.  First, they‘ll have to make it through Top Model Prep in order to grab a coveted spot on the show.  Let‘s take a look at the season premiere with some live thoughts.  Keep refreshing throughout the hour for updates and post your thoughts as well! Read more »
Tonight, the tenth cycle of America’s Next Top Model got underway. Thirty girls would be narrowed down to a group of 14 who would compete this season for the ultimately modeling opportunity. Tyra counted us down, announcing 10 seasons, 9 catfights, 8 dramatic makeovers, 7 stressful medical emergencies, 6 scary runway spills, 5 fierce plus-size models, 4 high flying photo shoots, 3 critter encounters, 2 amazing Jays, and 1 Top Model! We won’t know who that is for a few more months, though. Here’s how tonight’s episode played out. Read more »
The first episode of America‘s Next Top Model can really just be summed up best by a wide shot of a group of unnaturally leggy young women jumping up and down and shrieking.Ergo, it can take a lot for one girl to really stand out, but we can start to pick some initial favorites and figure out who could be a potential source for drama. So what were some first impressions from the first episode of cycle 10 of America‘s Next Top Model? Read more »
It seems like every season, at some point the contestants on America‘s Next Top Model have to play elimination panel back at the modelettes‘ house. One contestant will play the role of Tyra Banks and two others will be the final two to be called, each eagerly waiting to hear that they will be the name called when the picture was revealed. Of course, any America‘s Next Top Model fan can do the same with two fashion friends, but what about those times when you‘re by yourself and are really wanting to solemnly intone Tyra‘s closing speech to two model hopefuls? Now you can have your very own elimination panel any time, any where with the new America‘s Next Top Model dolls. Read more »
Nigel Barker provides insight to the young America‘s Next Top Model contestants that goes beyond what he learned during his years as a male model. He‘s spent time behind the camera as well, and so can speak to them both as someone who walked in their shoes and as someone who could be calling their career shots. We might see him most often as part of the elimination panel, but Nigel is keeping busy outside of the America‘s Next Top Model world as well, and he‘s recently taken on the cause of banning the seal trade.Nigel blogged about the controversial trade, first explaining that this is a large-scale issue for the animals: “Canada‘s commercial seal hunt is the largest slaughter of marine mammals on Earth. In the past three years, more than one million seals have been killed for their fur.” Read more »
Last week, we had the audition episode for Cycle 10 of America‘s Next Top Model, and got to see our final fourteen in action to put some personalities along side the pictures that we‘ve all see for a few weeks now.Personality is, of course, pretty important in the America‘s Next Top Model world. Tyra is looking for the “whole package” for the winner, and some high drama for the season, so the girls who can hang on will be the ones who can stand out, whether positively or negatively. So with that in mind, who could be the first to go home from the fourteen on this week‘s episode of America‘s Next Top Model 10? Read more »
Tomorrow night, the finalists will kick the competition into high gear on America‘s Next Top Model.  After their first official photo shoot, they‘ll have to face the harsh reality of judges panel.  This season, the show brings on a new judge, former supermodel Paulina Porizkova.  Paulina replaces Twiggy, who left the show because of scheduling conflicts.  This new judge brings a tougher, more honest opinion to the panel and she‘s definitely not afraid to speak her mind.  Today, Paulina spoke exclusively to BuddyTV about the upcoming season, what she thinks of Twiggy, and who she butted heads with the most.Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »
The second episode of the Top Model season is also my second favorite.  Number one goes to the makeover episode but we‘ll have to wait an episode or two more before that rolls around.  The previews for tonight show a shocking elimination and I can‘t wait to find out what goes down.  It‘s also Paulina‘s first night as judge and we‘ll see how she mixes things up now that Twiggy is gone. It‘s time for live thoughts so keep refreshing through the hour and post your comments as well. Read more »
This week on America‘s Next Top Model, our modelettes were thrown right into the thick of things. A public runway show in the middle of Times Square and their first serious America‘s Next Top Model photo shoot. Some girls‘ inexperience caught up with them, while others surprised the audience and the judges with a stronger than expected performance. Now once again, before we get into the Best and Worst photos of the week, a quick review of what we are doing here. This is not to determine the most likable, most versatile or most promising of the models. It‘s also not to punish the unlikable. With this column, we‘re really looking solely at the photographs themselves and rating them on their own merit, independent of the other info we might have.In short: this is a purely shallow, superficial exercise. Why? Because this is fashion!! Read more »
On March 4, BET will air the Rip the Runway special, a fashion and music special that will feature “urban-themed” collections from some major designers, and performances from some major hip hop names. The show is also Snoop Dogg‘s chance to launch Rich and Infamous and Co Co Ri, the clothing lines he is starting with his wife Shante Broadus.Joining the fashion and hip hop luminaries are several faces that will be familiar to America‘s Next Top Model fans, including one plus-sized favorite, a recent winner, and one recent “bad girl.” Read more »
We recently checked in to see how Eva Pigford, who now goes by Eva Marcelle, was doing since her win of cycle 3 of America‘s Next Top Model. She‘s recently shared a little more about her life after her victory on the show, and the ways in which her life is still very much about down-to-earth pursuits even while she pursues success in modeling and acting."My life has changed tremendously since winning America‘s Next Top Model, I went from a college student to the cover of a makeup line,” she said. “But when I have to do my own make-up, I just even out my complexion with Black Opal and put on mascara. That‘s about it." Read more »
Last week, the modelettes of cycle 10 of America‘s Next Top Model had their very first serious photo shoot of the show, and there were some surprising – and some not so surprising – results. Anya had been painted in a sort of clownish fashion on the first episode, and one of the general truisms of much of reality television is that the early episodes are all about mocking the first to be cut. Call it the American Idol effect. But Anya rose above her first episode edit and delivered a great shot. Allison‘s sass and confidence, on the other hand, didn‘t translate to a great photograph. Suspense depends on these types of reversals of fortune, but we can still try to make some guesses based on what we saw. Read more »
Ooh, I‘m so excited!  Tonight is the makeover episode of America‘s Next Top Model, every fan‘s favorite!  Tyra will decide the look for each girl but of course, not everyone will be happy with the makeover.  Yes!  I‘m looking for a weave or short cut meltdown.  Stacy Ann, I‘m talking to you.  There will also be a special guest on hand: Elle MacPherson, who will surprise the girls after they finish their makeovers.  It looks like it‘s going to be a great episode tonight and we‘ll update live throughout the episode.  Keep refreshing and share your thoughts as well! Read more »
Things got off to a shocking start on America‘s Next Top Model this week.  On the second episode, where the finalists move to New York and participate in their first photo shoot, one model decided to pack it in and go home.  Kimberly felt that she wasn‘t passionate about fashion, nor did she feel that anyone should spend an obscene amount of money on jeans or a purse.  Tyra asked her if she wanted to leave and Kimberly chose to remove herself from the competition.  However, that didn‘t mean there wouldn‘t be an elimination.  After just one photo shoot, Atalya was sent home after landing in the bottom two.  Today, she spoke exclusively to BuddyTV about whether or not she agreed with the judges and what the future holds for her.Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »
She talked a big game but on last night‘s episode of America‘s Next Top Model, Allison became the second model eliminated from cycle 10.  Having the most experience of any of the contestants, according to her, Allison felt that it would be a piece of cake to make it to the finals.  Unfortunately, she didn‘t count the fact that personality is a large factor into getting ahead on Top Model.  When she was complimented during panel and didn‘t thank the judges, she was sent to the bottom two, and promptly dismissed from the competition.  Today, she spoke to BuddyTV about, what she felt was, unfair treatment by the judges as well as her blowout with fellow model, Fatima.Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »
Another cycle of America‘s Next Top Model, another hit or miss makeover show. I guess there is one good thing about these episodes: they are an object lesson in what the wrong hair color or cut can do to a face. Last week, Anya rose to the top of the pack, but I think the white-blond hair was the wrong way to go for her; I think a darker, deeper shade would have better played up her features. With the washed-out color, she seems to look a little more ordinary: less supermodel and more bleached-out Celine Dion. Allison‘s hair color was a miss for me too. Although I never saw “model” when I looked at her (more like “Soleil-Sarah Silverman-Moon-Frye”), she clearly needs a dark brown shade without so much red in it to maintain the edge she did have. I think she would have gone home for her attitude anyway, but the hair could not have helped. Read more »
Tyra Banks has made a show of including plus-size models on America‘s Next Top Model, and it‘s easy to take her to task for the fact that not one has ever made it to the top spot, or even to the final few. However, it also might still be unrealistic at this point to expect that level of acceptance from the fashion industry. So perhaps we should instead just laud Tyra for at least putting images of bigger girls out there that promote them as being beautiful and alluring in their own way alongside the more-slender models. It could be debated which plus-sized America‘s Next Top Model hopeful best represented for the bigger girls, but many would probably put Toccara Jones in the top spot. She was spunky, radiant, beautiful, and, it seemed, confident and content with herself in a way that many of the skinny models couldn‘t manage. The judges claimed she lost her spunkiness, but in interviews after America‘s Next Top Model, she discounted that idea, saying she had just as much personality when she left the show as when she came in the house. Read more »
With tomorrow‘s show, we will be four episodes in to the tenth cycle of America‘s Next Top Model, and so far, I have to say this cycle does seem to be a bit of an improvement over last season‘s ho-hum one. We‘ll have to see if things continue to stay on this track or if the season devolves as it progresses. For now, let‘s make some guesses as to what could be the fates of our remaining girls on the show. Who seems like she could wind up in that bottom two standing before Tyra at the end of the episode? Read more »
Alright, Top Model.  Listen to me.  I don‘t want any more quitters or girls who think that they‘re better than they really are.  I‘m fine with keeping the drama queens around because they make things more interesting.  Jaslene shows up on tonight‘s episode and the girls will do their photo shoot in the meat packing district.  I don‘t even know where the meat packing district is and I‘ve been to New York a hundred times.  I guess you learn something new every day.  How is posing with a rack of beef sexy or high fashion?  We‘ll find out in a few.  I‘ll be updating live throughout the hour so keep refreshing and post your thoughts, too! Read more »
On tonight’s episode of America’s Next Top Model, the girls received a runway lesson at a local firehouse. They were surprised to find out that they’d be walking in a high profile fashion show with some special guest judges. For their photo shoot, the girls headed to New York City’s meat packing district and posed with racks of beef.  You‘ll never guess who turned in strong photos and who struggled.  Read on for more details about tonight‘s episode of America‘s Next Top Model! Read more »
America‘s Next Top Model cycle 10 contestant Amis certainly marched to the beat of her own drummer.  She wore what she wanted to at panel and she skipped during her runway lessons with Miss J.  Amis‘s carefree attitude rubbed some of the girls in the house the wrong way.  She was up front from the beginning, saying that while she loved modeling, it wasn‘t the only thing she wanted to do in life.  She was there for the experience and walked away happy with what she got from it.  Today, she spoke to BuddyTV in an exclusive interview.  Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »
Oh Tyra. Seriously, meat panties?I became a vegetarian at 15, was a vegan while in college, and while I‘m no longer either of those, I still do make some lifestyle choices out of concern for animal welfare. This America‘s Next Top Model shoot offended me, but actually until I read some of the comments, it didn‘t even occur to me to be offended on the grounds of animal rights. I was offended aesthetically. I was offended as a follower of fashion. If you‘re going to make a model wear a ridiculous get-up, at least make it visually pleasing or at the least, interesting. But meat underwear? Fugly Fuglestein. And stupid. Read more »
Every Top Model fans knows that each cycle, at one point or another, the house that the models live in starts to look like the town dump. I can’t imagine that they’re so busy that they can’t clean up after themselves. Dishes are piled in the sink, hair is stuck in the drain, and dirty clothes are left all over the floors. Usually, one responsible model grabs a sponge and gets to work to make it look like it was when they first found it. Apparently, the girls of cycle 10 are the all time worst, though, and no sponge was going to fix the damage that was done. They left such a mess in their expensive New York apartment that the landlord has now filed a lawsuit against the show. Read more »
I find this to be the most challenging part of the America‘s Next Top Model season. There‘s still too many modelettes on the field to really get enough screen time with any one to know what her story will ultimately be, but the weakest ones have already fallen away so now it‘s not necessarily always as clear.Dominique is getting some negative attention in commercials for this week‘s America‘s Next Top Model episode, but that doesn‘t necessarily mean she‘s heading home. Read more »
Tyra is either a very busy woman or trying to step things up this season.  She already brought on Elle MacPherson to have the girls model her swimsuits.  Tonight on America‘s Next Top Model, she brings in Vendela (who I have to admit I‘ve never heard of) to give the models tips on how to pose for various jobs.  Benny Ninja returns tonight and he creeps me out every time he shows up on my television screen.  The models will participate in a battle of poses.  Ooh, how street.  It‘s time for some live thoughts so keep refreshing through the hour and post your thoughts, too! Read more »
Tonight, on America’s Next Top Model, the girls receive makeovers as chosen by Tyra herself. Afterwards, special guest Elle MacPherson surprises the girls as a photo shoot, where they model her new line of lingerie. There’s more drama in the top model house as Fatima and Allison get into an argument over racist comments. The girls kick off the evening with a makeup challenge. They had very little time to throw on some Cover Girl makeup and the winner would have her photo featured in WalMart stores across the country. Though Allison and Whitney did well, the judges ultimately decided to make Claire the winner. Read more »
On last night‘s episode of America‘s Next Top Model, the judges and Jay Manuel all were on the same page about one thing: Marvita had checked out of the competition.  Her heart wasn‘t in it anymore.  She seemed defeated.  In her interview with BuddyTV, Marvita tells a different story.  She says that she had one bad day and her photo was not at all the worst.  Read on to hear more of what she has to say about last night‘s episode and what‘s in her future.Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »
On tonight’s episode of America’s Next Top Model, the models were surprised by a posing expert and a supermodel. In the house, many of the girls had a hard time getting along with one another and traded insults. The models faced off in a head to head battle on the streets of Brooklyn and got up close and personal for their photo shoots. The models who seemed disconnected from the competition were the ones who landed in the bottom two. Here’s more details about tonight’s episode of America’s Next Top Model. Read more »
Well, I‘m disappointed. I know that Marvita got off on the wrong foot with a lot of America‘s Next Top Model viewers for some of her early off-the-cuff remarks, but she‘s really grown on me in recent episodes. I also found her so beautiful and interesting and really wanted to see what she could do once she got more comfortable in front of the camera. But alas, she faded this episode, and while I would have loved for her to have another chance, I don‘t think there was much else the judges could do based on her performance and photos. I hope she keeps trying to make it as a model, though! There was another disappointment for me in this episode of America‘s Next Top Model. When watching the footage of the photo shoots, I thought for sure I would have a hard time picking the best: it seemed like almost all of the girls did so well. I did turn out to have a hard time, but not for the reason I thought. Read more »
She was eliminated a couple episodes ago, and it didn‘t appear to be a major surprise for most viewers – or for Amy “Amis” Jenkins herself. She told us in her exclusive interview with BuddyTV that she had a feeling her time might be up on the day of her elimination from America‘s Next Top Model.Amis might have expected the ouster, and seemed to handle it with equanimity, but she did still have one little quibble with how the judges responded to her personality in the competition. Read more »
This week, America‘s Next Top Model will have to take a temporary back seat to Tyra Banks‘ other baby, The Tyra Banks Show.  Tomorrow‘s broadcast is just too chockfull of MTV‘s current headliners not to tell our readers about. How‘s this for America‘s Next Top Model‘s creator‘s line-up on her Tyra Banks Show tomorrow:  former `N Sync member JC Chasez along with one of the groups he now judges on America‘s Best Dance Crew.  The hour will also feature A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila alum, Domenico, discussing his own reality show, That‘s Amore.  Finally, the guys and gals from Day26 and Danity Kane also stop by, fresh from the just-wrapped up latest edition of Making the Band. Read more »
Last week on America‘s Next Top Model, the judges thought that Whitney was not invested enough in the competition, Fatima had some grooming issues, and Anya was told that she needs to learn the patented Tyra Banks Power Squint in order to give her photos more pizzazz. On the positive side, the judges really like Stacy Ann‘s photo and Dominique got some praise for NOT looking like a drag queen or soccer mom in her photos (tip to America‘s Next Top Model future contestants: really underperform in early challenges, while maintaining the crucial level of enough-but-not-too-much self-esteem in panel, and that way, all you have to do by the mid-point of competition is not look like a man in your photos and the judges will be impressed.)So what could happen this week? Read more »
Often times, viewers have no idea what goes on behind the scenes of a television show. Actors can have serious problems getting along, like that of Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall on Sex and The City. When two people can’t work together, the entire show is left in jeopardy. Such is the case on America’s Next Top Model. Reports are flying that Tyra Banks and (former) friend Jay Manuel are no longer speaking. In fact, things have gotten so bad that Tyra wants cycle 12 to be her last season with the show. Read more »
I don‘t know about you but I‘m still reeling from the news that Tyra Banks wants to leave America‘s Next Top Model.  Perhaps even more surprising are the reports that she and Jay Manuel are not even speaking to one another!  I‘ll have to get in as much Tyra as I can since apparently, I‘m not going to get much more of it.  On tonight‘s episode, one girl wins a prize and gets to be photographed naked by Nigel Barker.  That‘s an interesting prize.  The girls get into a fight when one model doesn‘t shut her alarm clock off.  The nerve!  I‘ll be updating throughout the hour with live thoughts so keep refreshing and post your comments. Read more »
On tonight’s episode of America’s Next Top Model, tensions erupt in the house when Dominique doesn’t show respect for the other girls in the house. She lets her alarm go off repeatedly early in the morning and does not shut it off. This causes Claire to lose her cool and team up with Whitney and Lauren to gang up on Dominique. The majority of the models want to see her leave, saying that she doesn’t treat others well and brings a negative energy into the house. Read on to find out if the girls got their wish and if Dominique was the one to leave tonight on America’s Next Top Model. Read more »
There‘s something interesting happening this season on America‘s Next Top Model.  It seems that the judges make a decision about a particular model and then there‘s nothing she can say or do to prevent her elimination from happening.  Last week, Tyra and company came to the decision that Marvita had checked out of the competition and sent her home.  This week, they felt that Aimee was too young and naive to do well in the modeling world and gave her a one way ticket home.  Aimee says that she felt she was not only able to handle the competition but more mature than some of her fellow contestants who were years older.  Today, she spoke to BuddyTV about her elimination and what the future holds for her.Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »
Now that we‘re in cycle 10 of America‘s Next Top Model, I‘m pretty much only interested in tuning in for the photo shoots. Tyra Banks‘ shenanigans have really turned me off the reality show aspect.I have been singing the praises of the most recent season of Project Runway for a while now; I really enjoyed how focused on the fashion the season was. It was all about the clothes and no less interesting, to me at least, for that. I wish America‘s Next Top Model would take a cue from that. This cycle of America‘s Next Top Model at least had some better shoots than the bargain basement look of last cycle, but this episode‘s started to feel a little too cycle 9 for my tastes. Read more »
This is the published description of what this week‘s America‘s Next Top Model will entail: The ladies are divided into two groups as they go on modeling auditions; the models visit Broadway for the photo shoot and are photographed through a plastic sheet while laying face down in water. Okay, Tyra Banks has asked the girls to deal with some difficult conditions before, but this seems beyond the pale. Face down in water? I‘m not going to compare it to torture – it is, after all, something the girls do voluntarily. But it sure ain‘t playing with a box of kittens. Is there no limit to Tyra‘s desire to prove how tough modeling is? So which girls seem likely to crumble under her harsh techniques and which girls could be at risk in the modeling auditions?  Read more »
Let‘s get one thing straight.  You America‘s Next Top Model viewers may not like Dominique, but that‘s just because you don‘t understand Dominique.  Soon, the whole world will know Dominique‘s name and see what a gift Dominique is to the fashion world.  If I have to hear Dominique say Dominique one more time, I‘m going to throw a Jimmy Choo at her.  Tonight, the girls have to go on go sees.  Yeah, this early in the competition!  They‘ll head to Broadway and later, will do a photo shoot lying face down in water.  Uh, I‘ll take Broadway, thanks.  I‘ll be updating live throughout the hour so keep refreshing and post your comments, too! Read more »
Recently, new judge Paulina Porizkova commented just how busy America‘s Next Top Model creator, host and judge Tyra Banks is. I think maybe she‘s become so busy that she is possibly sending the world‘s most convincing Tyra Banks drag queen in her place to the panel in the show, because she is seriously becoming a caricature of herself with the mugging, singing and little accents she‘s doing. That, or else is she just totally punchy from lack of sleep? Her antics are getting a little out of control. In other, less-critical news, I have made a complete 180-degree turnaround. For some unknown reason, I have been completely and baselessly irritated by Stacy Ann all of this cycle of America‘s Next Top Model. But in this episode – much like the designers she saw on the go-sees– I actually found her cute and charming. She‘s switched over to the “Like” column in my head…but for this week, it‘s from a personality perspective only. Her photo? Not so much. Read more »
On tonight‘s episode of America‘s Next Top Model, Fatima picked a fight with Lauren after she poured her coffee down the train. While Fatima kept her composure, the same could not be said for Lauren, who cursed her out and shouted in her face. The two had to put their differences aside to head out for tonight‘s challenge. The models were placed into two groups and were asked to head out on go-sees. They could not use taxis but were given Sprint GPS phones to help them find their way. Read more »
Last night, on America‘s Next Top Model, Claire landed in the bottom two for the second week in a row.  Though she takes decent photos, the judges hadn‘t seen any improvement in her and felt she lacked listening skills in her photo shoots.  As she stood next to Lauren last night, the viewers seemed confident that Claire, a three time Cover Girl of the Week, would be granted another chance.  Tyra shocked everyone and sent Claire home.  Many strong models have come and gone early in the season.  First Marvita, now Claire.  What is going on this season?  Today, Claire tried to explain in her exclusive BuddyTV interview.Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »
Tonight’s episode of America’s Next Top Model was the midseason clip show we’ve all come to know and love. The best part about a Top Model clip show, though, is that they always give us some never before seen footage and tonight’s made the episode very much worth watching. We started back at day one at Top Model Prep. Mr. Jay has the girls practice faces in a mirror showing: horror, a sour face after eating a lemon, and more. When they were done checking out their own reflections, we revisit the fights from the preliminary rounds. Then, we heard Stacy Ann’s song that she wrote to impress Tyra. It didn’t impress but somehow, she still made it through. Read more »
America’s Next Top Model has featured many sexy photo shoots over the last 10 cycles. One recent shoot, in particular, became a bit too much for the Parents Television Council. In a March 26 episode, one contestant, Anya, won a prize after participating in a posing contest judged by Tyra Banks herself. Her prize was a 1-on-1 photo shoot with judge, Nigel Barker but she had to be completely naked for the shoot. This prompted parents to launch complaints to the FCC and the PTC to take a stand against the “indecent content”. Read more »
Last week was the mid-season clip show for America‘s Next Top Model but this week we are back into the grind of competition. It‘s only been two weeks since our last elimination but it feels like forever, doesn‘t it? Claire Unabia was the last modelette to be sent home, leaving us with seven girls still in the running in the hope of becoming America‘s Next Top Model. Let‘s run down how each girl could fare in the competition moving forward.  Read more »
I‘m pretty excited about tonight‘s episode of Top Model.  I‘m not excited because of the challenge, the fights, or the photo shoot.  I‘m excited because tonight, a model misses the photo shoot and nothing pisses off Tyra more than that.  Also tonight, Paulina instructs the girls how to behave properly during interview.  I‘m sure it does not involve telling people they have bad acne or that they look like a drag queen.  I‘ll be here all hour with live updates, waiting for Tyra to lay the smackdown.  Keep refreshing and post your thoughts, too! Read more »
On tonight’s episode of America’s Next Top Model, Fatima encountered a serious bump in the road when she realized that she could not leave the country. Realizing that she was getting closer to the international trip, Fatima tried to secure travel documents for herself so that she could travel. That fact that she is not a citizen and asked for her documents at the last minute made things extremely difficult. An ANTM producer told her that she wouldn’t be getting it anytime soon which could mean that Fatima will be sent home from the competition. Read more »
This week, there‘s only one America‘s Next Top Model photo to judge since it was a group event. And, we have no Fatima to judge since she missed the shoot due to her document issue. I don‘t know if it‘s because the photo, I assume, had to be hurriedly put together since they went right from the shoot to the judging, but the actual look of the shot is a little Photoshop 101, wouldn‘t you say? Eh. I guess I shouldn‘t expect more from a show that features a photo shoot styled after a soda. So who manages to emerge from this group shot with some promise? Read more »
It was a surprising elimination on last night‘s America‘s Next Top Model, especially for Stacy Ann.  After failing to impress in a jet setting group photo shoot, Stacy Ann landed in the bottom two, standing next to Fatima.  She felt fairly confident that she would stay, especially considering that Fatima missed the photo shoot entirely.  In the history of Top Model, when a girl misses a shoot, she usually goes home.  Tyra decided, last night, that the judges would evaluate her body of work up against Stacy Ann‘s and that‘s when she knew that she was in trouble.  Ultimately, Tyra felt that Stacy Ann was not going to get any better and sent her home.  The remaining girls headed to Rome, while Stacy Ann just went home.  Today, she spoke to BuddyTV in an exclusive interview.Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »
Last week, the modelettes of cycle 10 of America‘s Next Top Model finally learned that they would be headed abroad to Rome, Italy as their foreign destination. Stacy Ann Fequiere was the one model who didn‘t make the cut, leaving us with Katarzyna, Anya, Whitney, Fatima, Dominique and Lauren. These six were fortunate to make it onto to the plane, but which one of them is looking likely to have to make an abrupt departure from the America‘s Next Top Model‘s Rome apartment?  Read more »
Don‘t you just love the international destination episodes of America‘s Next Top Model?  Other than the makeover episode early on, these are my favorite to watch.  Not only do we get to see a beautiful country, but the girls film their Cover Girls commercials.  At least one model is always guaranteed to be a trainwreck, especially when a foreign language is involved (though somehow, the cycle 8 girls screwed up in Australia, too).  My pre-episode prediction is that Whitney will go home tonight.  I‘ll be here for the entire hour, updating live.  Keep refreshing throughout the episode and post your comments, too! Read more »
On tonight’s episode of America’s Next Top Model, the girls arrived in Rome and received a tour of the beautiful and historic city. Lauren felt like she didn’t fit in with the rest of the girls or the style of the city. She spent much of the time moping around and slamming things around the apartment. She didn’t seem happy to be there, invested in the competition, or excited about the challenge or photo shoot. The same cannot be said for the other girls, who shrieked with happiness at every turn! Read more »
This week, the modelettes of cycle 10 of America‘s Next Top Model arrived in Rome, Italy.  In addition to the indignity of toppling off of buses and Segway scooters, they also had the pleasure of the always cringe-inducing task of learning a Cover Girl commercial in Italian.  Since we didn‘t have a photo shoot this week, instead of the usual close perusal of the pics, we‘ll evaluate the girls‘ performances in the commercial. This task is challenging on several levels.  Obviously the language is a big part of it.  Additionally, making the leap from modeling to talking and acting for a moving picture can be a big one.  I also think that Cover Girl commercials are especially tricky, because you have to, as Tyra Banks said, be willing to be corny, but if you go too over the top with that easy, breezy thing...well, you‘re Whitney. Read more »
On last night‘s episode of America‘s Next Top Model, the models headed to Italy where they filmed a Cover Girl commercial.  Not only did the girls have to remember choreography, but the entire shoot had to be in Italian.  For Lauren, it became too much and her commercial was uncomfortable to watch.  She landed in the bottom two with Whitney but Tyra sent her home, for "checking out of the competition".  Today, she spoke to BuddyTV in an exclusive interview about the commercial, the other girls, and whether or not she‘ll continue modeling.Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »
I wasn‘t necessarily happy to see Lauren Utter eliminated on last week‘s America‘s Next Top Model, but it seemed clear it was her time to go. Her pictures were gorgeous, her legs are a mile long, but she is not, as she was well-aware, the Cover Girl type. Let‘s review what this means, shall we? In last week‘s episode, a model‘s weaknesses came to the forefront and could no longer be overlooked, and she was therefore the one selected to go home. Almost as though the judging and selection process were based on logic, reason, and a realistic assessment of the individual contestant‘s modeling potential So, America‘s Next Top Model, what‘s it going to be this week? Read more »
Tonight on America‘s Next Top Model, Tyra shows off her skills behind the camera by photographing the shoot.  The girls will complete warrior style for their challenge and the winner gets a shopping spree.  Hey, just like the old days!  The general consensus among the BuddyTV readers is that Whitney or Dominique will go home tonight, leaving Fatima, Kat, and Anya in the final three in two weeks.  There‘s a great debate about whether Kat or Anya will win and I feel both are certain to be the final two.  It‘s back to Italy in tonight‘s episode and I‘ll be updating live all hour.  Keep refreshing and post your thoughts, too! Read more »
On tonight’s episode of America’s Next Top Model, the girls received training in ancient warrior stances and fighting techniques. After observing some experts engage each other in battle, the models learned the moves themselves, which they put to good use in a challenge photo shoot. Each model had only five frames to show the poses they learned, while still looking like a model. Whitney was able to strike the best pose and received a shopping spree. When she was offered the opportunity to take someone along with her, she chose Anya. Read more »
Well, I am shocked. Shocked, I say! Yet somehow I am also simultaneously not surprised. On last night’s America’s Next Top Model, Katarzyna was eliminated. Her photo really wasn’t that great, but her overall work did seem like it should have carried her through. Also, she actually looks like a model who could get work, was able to talk intelligently, and carried herself with some dignity. This could have been her fatal error: as Tyra Banks said on the last episode, sometimes, you have to be corny in fashion. And I think on America’s Next Top Model, the corollary to that is: you sometimes have to be a doofus and/or cry. Katarzyna, with all that composure, seemed to find it unnecessary to fall out of buses, refer to herself in the third person, trot out black friends as evidence of not being racist and/or weep often, so let’s face it: she kind of had to go. It’s Tyra’s world and she makes the rules. But this is my article and here I make the rules as to who I rate Best and Worst. And this week, I have not one but TWO! shocking! Bests! Get a hat and hold on to it! Read more »
On last night‘s episode of America‘s Next Top Model, Tyra shocked the models and the viewers by eliminating Katarzyna.  She performed well all season and seemed like a frontrunner to win the entire thing.  She landed in the bottom two last night because the judges felt that she lacked personality.  Kat disagrees and felt that she was just trying to respectful in panel.  Either way, she still got sent home and today, spoke to BuddyTV in an exclusive interview.Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview. Read more »
Last week, Katarzyna Dolinska was eliminated from this cycle of America‘s Next Top Model. As of the writing of this article, about 1500 people have voted in our poll as to their reaction to the elimination. Sixty percent found it unfair, twenty-nine percent found it shocking and only eleven percent found it to be deserved. Well, there has to be at least one elimination per America‘s Next Top Model cycle that totally upsets viewers‘ expectations. With that out of the way, could we possible expect some more predictable results to be forthcoming.  Read more »
Previously on America‘s Next Top Model, Tyra Banks herself got behind the camera to shoot some gorgeous photos of the modelettes.  Katarzyna looked like she was walking like an Egyptian too much, so she got the boot.  Only four girls remain: Whitney, Anya, Dominique and Fatima.  Who will be eliminated tonight?  Keep refreshing your browser; I‘ll be here with live thoughts throughout the hour. Read more »
On tonight’s episode of America’s Next Top Model, the girls met up with Paulina Porizkova and Francesco Licata, a fashion photographer. Francesco taught the models the basics of photography. They got to practice by taking pictures of each other and see things from another perspective. Afterwards, they met up with Ann Shoket, the editor-in-chief of Seventeen magazine. For their challenge tonight, the girls had five minutes to take an amazing picture of Paulina. The winner would get 50 extra frames in their next photo shoot. Read more »
Last night on America‘s Next Top Model, we said goodbye to the phenomenon that is Dominique.  Her dragalicious look could no longer be overlooked, and with Miss J. Alexander‘s special deep tranny voice still ringing in her ears, she was sent home from the competition. But before she left, she gave us one last Dominique photo shoot, and we‘ll take a look at that, and the other three girls‘ shots, in this week‘s review of the Best and Worst shots of the week on America‘s Next Top Model. Read more »
Once a Top Model’s dream of winning is crushed by Tyra Banks, they all say that they’ll continue pursuing modeling professionally. They talk of acting, of becoming television hosts, and of creating their own fashion lines. Very few find success outside of the CW television series, which has recently been renewed for an 11th season, set to air this fall. A cycle 8 contestant, who had big dreams of pursuing a music career, has actually made it a reality. Sarah VonderHaar, recently released her solo debut album and talked about her journey towards reaching her goal. Read more »
Cycle Ten of America‘s Next Top Model comes to an end this week; on Wednesday night, we will finally know who the winner of the competition will be. We‘ve worked our way through eleven other girls already, with one contestant who quit (Kimberly Rydzewski), one contestant who drank her own breast milk (Claire Unabia), one who talked about herself in the third person (Dominique) and one who many viewers thought should have made it to the final three, if not the top spot (Katarzyna Dolinska). The three girls who have prevailed over those competitors are Anya, Fatima and Whitney. What are their strengths and weaknesses as we head into the finale of America‘s Next Top Model? Read more »
Love her or hate her, Dominique certainly made things interesting on this cycle of America‘s Next Top Model.  She came in to the competition as the underdog, with the judges and her fellow models dismissing her as someone who couldn‘t cut it in the industry.  Yet, Dominique was convinced that she could make it and, time and time again, prevailed over the other girls in the competition.  She listened to direction and pushed herself to improve.  Dominique made it all the way to the final four before being cut on last night‘s episode.  Today, she talked to BuddyTV in an exclusive interview. Read more »
The CW announced its fall schedule today and it features all good-looking people.  I suppose one could make the argument that all television features good-looking people, but not to the extreme extent that the CW has taken it.  You see, most of the CW‘s Fall schedule not only features good-looking people, the series themselves are about those people being good-looking, or at least it‘s a very important part of the series.  There are three hours of new programming on the CW‘s Fall schedule, one of which may include the most highly-anticipated new series going into next season.  Before any Reaper fans go ballistic and worry about why the series isn‘t on the Fall schedule, don‘t worry.  The CW has ordered 13 episodes of Reaper, which will hit the air at mid-season.  There‘s a very good chance that it will take over Smallville‘s time slot at some point, but nothing is set in stone.  Read more »
On tonight’s episode of America’s Next Top Model, the final group of models moved in to their new apartment in New York. They met their new judge, Paulina Porizkova, but she didn’t bring much besides criticism to the table at their first meeting. The models participated in a fashion show soon after arriving in the city and did a photo shoot raising awareness about an important issue. One model made a shocking confession at panel, causing a memorable elimination. Read more »
