Articles for American Horror Story: Coven Season 2

American Horror Story: Asylum really is horrifying. Any show featuring Adam Levine is sure to frighten its viewers. In the casting director‘s defense, Levine‘s character (Leo) probably isn‘t that much of a stretch for the Maroon 5 singer. Leo has his pants off twice in the first scene alone. Not only does Leo nearly have sex with his new wife in the first scene, but he also receives a sexual act as his arm is ripped off. Welcome to Briarcliff Adam Levine. The newlywed‘s honeymoon is the current day horror at Briarcliff, while viewers get a look at what horror occurred in 1964 at the insane asylum. The show‘s look into the past helps viewers understand the terror unfolding in present day. Read more »
"Here, you will repent your sins to the only judge that matters," said Sister Jude (Jessica Lange) as she peered down at the helpless and crazy Kit Walker (Evan Peters). If you remember this line from Wednesday night‘s premiere episode of American Horror Story: Asylum, then pat yourself on the back for helping ratings reach an all-time high for the FX network. With 3.85 million viewers tuning in to see what shenanigans would befall the characters of this second season of the franchise, creators Brad Falchuck and Ryan Murphy have outdone themselves, to say the least. The numbers outshine any seen from a single episode last season. And with Murphy making his latest announcement on Twitter just yesterday, ratings are sure to continue climbing.  Read more »
American Horror Story: Asylum started out with an alien abduction and in "Tricks or Treats," it continues with the theme of the unbelievable with an exorcism. Is the young boy psychotic? Or, is he really possessed? You‘ll have to watch to get that answer, but expect a crazy ride. Read more »
It doesn‘t take long for the horror to begin. Bloody Face is doing his best Jason Voorhees impersonation with his slow and methodical walk after Teresa. Unfortunately for Adam Levine fans, Levine‘s character Leo made it about a minute into the second episode before Bloody Face killed him. For the 55% of you who voted that Leo would die in the second episode, give yourselves a pat on the back.Leo‘s wife, Teresa, was able to escape Bloody Face for the time being, but the same can‘t be said for Lana Winters girlfriend Wendy. So far the goriest parts of American Horror Story have been first two minutes before the opening credits roll. Read more »
American Horror Story: Asylum picked the right night to go from creepy to super duper creepy on Halloween. Sister Mary Eunice has gone from the sweet nun that we knew to a nun possessed by an evil so dark that she overshadows everything else at Briarcliff. Read more »
Last Wednesday‘s American Horror Story: Asylum took a crazy turn with Dr. Arden and Shelley. He attempted to sexually assault her, then when she rejected him, he took the extreme measure of amputating her legs. Shelley‘s horrors have only just begun. Chloe Sevigny spoke with reporters about her time on the show and what‘s coming up for Shelley. Read more »
American Horror Story: Asylum ended last Wednesday with a big story, a failed escape attempt, doubts about Kit‘s guilt, and Dr. Arden amputating Shelley‘s legs. Tonight on "I Am Anne Frank, Pt. 1" Franka Potente joins the cast as a new mysterious patient at Briarcliff.  Read more »
As the horror continues, so do the angles to each character‘s story in American Horror Story: Asylum. Dr. Arden is like a mad scientist. This guy‘s character continues to grow. Out of all the characters in American Horror Story: Asylum, I feel like Dr. Arden eclipses all of them in the evil department. Anyone who has been watching season two knows that this is saying something. It appears that Anne Frank has joined Briarcliff and just in time. Frank is accusing Dr. Arden of being a Nazi war criminal. This guy‘s resume just keeps getting worse and worse. I have to say, when the crazy woman in the insane asylum who is claiming to be Anne Frank is more trustworthy than the doctor treating her, there is a big problem. Read more »
On tonight‘s American Horror Story: Asylum, Anne Frank‘s history is revealed. Is she sane and really the Anne Frank of the history books? Or, does she belong at Briarcliff with the other insane patients? And, what about Dr. Arden? Whether he was a Nazi or not, the truth will come out.Franka Potente spoke with reporters on a recent conference call about her experiences on American Horror Story: Asylum. The two-part Anne Frank arc comes to an end tonight, but she leaves open the door for a possible return later in the series.  Read more »
American Horror Story: Asylum has delved into aliens, possession, Dr. Arden‘s creatures, Nazis, a serial killer, and many behaviors viewed as socially abhorrent back in the 1960s. In tonight‘s "I Am Anne Frank, Part II," several outstanding questions will be answered, including the big one, who is Bloody Face? Read more »
Lizzie Brochere might not be American, but the French actress is certainly a big part of the American Horror Story making the second season of FX‘s terrifying show such a success. In the last two episodes, we‘ve found out quite a bit about her character Grace‘s grizzly past. Who knew we‘d feel so much sympathy for an axe murderess? It‘s probably because Brochere plays Grace with such humanity in the face of increasingly crazy plot twists.Warning: This interview may contain spoilers. Read at your own risk. Read more »
Why after such an impressive display on the part of Anne Frank would she allow her guard down so easily? My one pet peeve with horror films and shows is the stupidity shown on the part of the characters. Anne Frank lets her guard down and as a result Dr. Arden escapes. Even worse, Anne Frank isn‘t really Anne Frank (her real name is Charlotte). Go figure.Anne‘s husband pays a visit to Briarcliff to recliam his wife. He claims she started going crazy after seeing a play about Anne Frank. Something tells me this won‘t be the last we hear about Dr. Arden being a Nazi. Sit tight everyone, American Horror Story: Asylum is about to get interesting. Read more »

Zachary Quinto has shown that he can play evil brilliantly as he did as Heroes‘ Sylar, but his turn on American Horror Story:Asylum was quite unexpected. Dr. Thredson seemed to care about doing right by Kit and Lana and he ranted about the abhorrent conditions at Briarcliff, but all the while he was Bloody Face. A killer. The day after Dr. Thredson‘s true identity was revealed, Quinto spoke with reporters about the show and this surprising reveal. Read more »
Now that we know who Bloody Face is we can see the true madness behind the mask. Despite Bloody Face‘s identity being revealed, there are still plenty of questions for viewers to find out in season two of American Horror Story. How did Dr. Thredson become Bloody Face? Who are the current day Bloody Faces? Why did the newlywed‘s have to be murdered? Maybe we will finally get these answers in "The Origins of Monstrosity."Viewers are finally brought back to the current day Briarcliff. The police get a call about three imposter Bloody Faces, who the police find hanging dead from the ceilings of current day Briarcliff. The Bloody Face mystery continues. Read more »
I have heard about the lips of an angel, but all it takes are the lips of a dark angel to bring Grace back to life. Viewers are welcomed by a new character in episode seven, who is the focus of "Dark Cousin."This dark angel who saves Grace may be the focus of this American Horror Story: Asylum episode, but it‘s Sister Mary Eunice whose character continues to reveal herself. While the dark angel gives the kiss of death to Miles, a tortured patient, she also sees right through Sister Mary Eunice and the dark angel‘s "Dark Cousin." Read more »
American Horror Story would not be the same show without Jessica Lange. She was perfect in the award winning role of Constance in the first installment of the series. And, now in Asylum, she plays the troubled nun, who has tried to come to terms with her mistakes. Lange spoke with reporters about both roles and season of the show. Read more »

The nominations for the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards were announced Thursday morning, and as always, it‘s a mix of old favorites and wacky new entries. In episode nine, "The Coat Hanger", viewers finally get to meet the character played by Dylan McDermott. For a a few brief moments we are met by John Morgan, a man trying to overcome compulsions. There is one, small problem: Morgan‘s compulsions involve skinning women. In the opening scene viewers learn that Dylan McDermott‘s character is actually the son of Dr. Thredson. He isn‘t a doctor like his father, just a mentally-deranged killer. He is the son of Bloody Face.  Read more »
When we last saw American Horror Story: Asylum, the present day Bloody Face was unmasked as the son of Dr. Thredson and Lana, Johnny Thredson (Dylan McDermott). Her attempt to self-abort the baby was presumably unsuccessful, though with American Horror Story nothing should be taken at face value. Read more »
What better way to start off 2013, then with evil nuns, extraterrestrial lifeforms, creatures and insane murderers. What does the new year hold for Briarcliff?Dr. Arden may have finally met his match. Pepper, quite possibly the creepiest-looking of Briarcliff‘s inmates is back and taking charge. She has been sent back by "them" to protect Grace and her baby. Something tells me this pregnancy will be even more anticipated than Kimye‘s. Read more »

In episode 11 of American Horror Story: Asylum, there is a theme of children. However, it‘s in the American Horror Story way. I‘m not sure what I was expecting when I saw the episode title was "Spilt Milk", but it definitely wasn‘t episode 11‘s opening scene.Dr. Thredson‘s mother issues were passed down to his son, Johnny, whose emotional obsession with his mother is once again portrayed in a shocking way. Just when you think American Horror Story: Asylum can‘t push the envelope any further, they show a prostitute breast-feeding a grown man. Read more »
American Horror Story: Asylum takes a few jumps in time during the penultimate episode, "Continuum," of the season. Last week, we were left with several cliffhangers: Kit arrived home with Grace and his new baby to find Alma sitting there with child as well, Lana killed Thredson, and the Monsignor lied about Jude dying to Lana. Read more »
Even Briarcliff celebrates Christmas! What would American Horror Story: Asylum be without a visit from an insane Santa? "Unholy Night" gives viewers a guest appearance by Ian McShane as an insane Santa Claus. You may know McShane from the HBO show Deadwood, where he played Al Swaerengen. If you haven‘t checked it out you may want to. In the mean time, enjoy McShane as deranged Santa. In the opening scene McShane murders a Santa outside a store and then visits a family and murders them. Money doesn‘t seem to motivate this insane Santa, but rather holiday injustices that are taking place during Christmas time. Read more »
American Horror Story: Asylum seems to have its own version of Three‘s Company going on. Season two has transformed from a horror story that is ahead of its time to a ‘70s sitcom."Continuum" starts off in Kit‘s new home with his two wives, Grace and Alma. Just the three of them living happily ever after with their two children. Kit really went from zero to sixty. He goes from being a patient in an insane asylum with no escape, to living with two beautiful women. This seems to be a happy ending for Kit. However, this wouldn‘t be a horror story if it had a happy ending. Read more »

Shows with occult or mystical themes such as The Vampire Diaries, Teen Wolf and the aptly titled Supernatural have been delivering thrills for years. However, the story lines tends to be melodramatic or rely on a fictional mythology. For people who like their horror a little gorier and a tad grittier used to be restricted to premium channels; for example, HBO‘s True Blood and Showtime‘s hit Dexter. However, the days of padded cable bills or waiting a year or longer for a DVD release in order to be horrified are coming to an end. Read more »
