'All My Children' Drops Colin Egglesfield to Recurring Status

August 7, 2008

All My Children has called off future plans for Colin Egglesfield, who presently portrays the highly controversial Joshua Madden on the drama. According to Soap Central, the 35-year-old actor has been taken off his contract, consequently being dropped to recurring status.

Egglesfield joined All My Children as the second actor to play Joshua, following the departure of Scott Kinworthy in 2005.  The character was initially the subject of controversial abortion storyline back in the early 1970s, having been the fetus in which the abortion was centered.  When the abortion storyline was rewritten to not have been an abortion after all, controversy ensued again, as viewers felt that it was an undoing of a groundbreaking event in television history.  Although this storyline created buzz for several months, Joshua's storyline gradually dried up.  Most recently, he was featured having a one-night stand with Greenlee Smythe (Rebecca Budig).
