Last week on Smallville, Jimmy Olsen, enterprising photographer that he is, managed to capture Clark's likeness, or rather, a red and blue blur, on film, and figured out that Clark has superpowers. Fortunately, Oliver helped Clark keep his identity a secret, but in the fallout, Chloe proved that she's much darker than she used to be.
This week on Smallville, Laura Vandervoort returns as Kara Kent. When last we saw her, at the end of Smallville's seventh season, she was floating around in space in the Phantom Zone. Well, this week, Clark will be forced to pay a visit to her there.

For eight seasons, Chloe Sullivan has been the sweet girl-next-door on Smallville. She's Clark Kent's go-to gal, the spunky and smart chick who helps him out. In last night's episode, Chloe went off the reservation, committing cold-blooded murder.
When mind-reader Sebastian learned Clark's secret, Chloe paid him a visit in the hospital and used a reverse healing power to kill him to protect the secret. If this were actually Chloe, it would be one of the more shocking moments on Smallville. But this season the show has been setting up quite nicely the fact that Chloe is no longer normal Chloe, but a minion of Brainiac.

Previously on Smallville: Jimmy vowed to find out who has been running around Metropolis saving people. Davis was exonerated from charges that he was a serial killer, in spite of the fact that he actually IS a serial killer.
In this episode of Smallville, Clark is worried that his secret will be revealed by Jimmy, who finally figures out that Clark has super powers. Unfortunately, Clark is also a douche who likes making people who are smart look like idiots.

You don't have to be an advertising executive to know that sex sells. The promise of scandal and skin has convinced many of us to tune into TV shows or movies we'd never watch otherwise. There's a good reason Milo Ventimiglia is shirtless on every episode of Heroes, and why Chuck recently featured an epic shower battle between Nicole Richie and Yvonne Strahovski. It may not be the most highbrow way to court viewers, but it works more often than not.
Proving that it's never too late to sex up a show, season 8 of Smallville has featured more shirtless men than I've seen anywhere else on television. Is it a coincidence that the show is still one of the highest rated programs on the CW?

The folks behind Smallville really need help coming up with clever episode titles. While Gossip Girl gives us titles like "Pret-a-Poor-J," and Supernatural offers up "It's the Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester," Smallville keeps tossing out one-word titles that make each episode indistinguishable from the next. This season we've had "Committed," "Toxic" and "Instinct," just to name a few of the forgettable names. This week's episode is called "Identity," which doesn't tell viewers a thing about the plot. I know the Smallville writers are capable of less generic fare. Based on the plot description of this week's installment, I recommend renaming it "The Secret Life of the American Superhero."
"Identity" doesn't tell fans a thing about the episode itself, so I've put together some pictures and a clip to help shed some light on what's coming up this Thursday.

While Heroes is busy forming its villains alliance headed by Arthur Petrelli, Smallville is hard at work putting together its own evil coalition in the background. Tess Mercer has slowly been recruiting Krypto-freaks for a special mission, and that can only mean one thing: Evil Justice League.
Shows like Smallville succeed when there's a season-long story arc. Clark Kent is a hero, but to truly stand out, he needs super villains who can rival him. Look at any season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and you'll see the benefit of having a Big Bad. The special thing about this season of Smallville is that there are two Big Bads brewing.

Tonight on Smallville there's a serial killer on the loose, and everyone suspects Davis Bloom. It's partly because all the evidence points to him, partly because he confesses, and partly because we all know he's secretly the villainous Doomsday..
Not only has Chloe (Allison Mack) restarted the Isis Foundation, but she's started an AA meeting for Krypto-freaks. One chick who can control electricity complains that meeting together is a terrible idea because it makes them more of a target. In a nice ironic twist, she's the one full of bad ideas, walking down a dark, abandoned alley on her way home. A mysterious figure drags her away and kills her. Either that's Doomsday, or the Smoke Monster from Lost has made it's way onto Smallville..

BuddyTV interviews Cassidy Freeman, who plays Tess Mercer on Smallville.
There's a new bad-ass on Smallville, and her name is Tess Mercer. Cassidy Freeman's entrance as the new CEO of LuthorCorp has been difficult, since Michael Rosenbaum left big shoes to fill. But with her strict, yet sexy attitude and her past with Oliver Queen, Tess has made her presence known.
BuddyTV spoke to Cassidy Freeman about how she's settling into Smallville and Tess' relationships with Chloe, Lois and Oliver. Continue reading to listen to our exclusive interview and to read the full transcript.
