This week, the Gemini Awards became a temporary respite for some of the industry's top Canadian celebrities. All set to honor his motherland, Beverly Hills alum Jason Priestley of took the responsibility of hosting the event. And who else would he run into during the affair? It was none other than the current star of his show's spin-off, Shenae Grimes of 90210.
The two met on the red carpet at Intercontinental Hotel's Metro Toronto Convention Centre for the 2008 Gemini Awards, as if it was a reunion of two Beverly Hills generations. Despite working together eventually, it's very unlikely that Priestley and Grimes will be seen side by side on camera. Priestley is out to direct an episode of 90210 next year, but he has confirmed that he won't be making a cameo appearance on the show.

Has the exodus of Friday Night Lights cast members begun? Is this a sign that the show's long, arduous death march is coming to a close after three tumultuous, yet critically-acclaimed seasons? Aimee Teegarden, the adorable teen who plays Julie Taylor, progeny of Coach Eric Taylor and his lovely wife Tami, has signed for an appearance on the CW's 90210. Teegarden will play a girl named Rhonda, who crosses paths with Ethan Ward, current boyfriend of de facto lead character Annie Wilson on 90210. As of now, Teegarden has signed on for one lonely episode, but there's always the possibility for more. Can we read anything into the future of Friday Night Lights given this news?

Young actresses who maintain a slim and slender figure have always been the target of tabloids when it comes to eating disorder rumors. Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan and the Olsen twins have all been targets of this controversy and while some celebrities choose to ignore the issue, others opt to break their silence.
Such is the case of Shenae Grimes, 90210 star who plays the “pretty, cool, and popular” Annie Wilson on the spin-off series. In an interview with People, the 19-year-old actress disproves the rumor and even urges the public to ask her before believing what they read.

When a freshman series has already laid out its entire first season, it's often a sign that things won't end there. Work for the upcoming season continues for he CW's 90210. They've already started hauling in storylines, stars, and of course, directors. For next year, Jason Priestley has been slated to helm one episode of the hit series.
Rising to fame as Brandon Walsh in the original Beverly Hills 90210, Priestley also admitted that he's been asked to make another on-screen appearance on the new show. “They did ask, but I sort of informed them that it wasn't really anything I was that interested in,” he said. “The reality is, they didn't really have anything very interesting for me to do.”

90210 aired its final episode of 2008 on Tuesday, and fans are going to have to wait until January 6 until the CW drama returns to the screen. The first episode of 2009, entitled “Hello, Goodbye, Amen” was directed by Brandon Walsh himself, Jason Priestley. It appears to revolve around Brenda Walsh and some of her serious personal issues. But until then, we are all left to think about the first half season of 90210. Was the re-boot of the series worth it? Has it lived up to expectations? Does the show have future promise? The CW took a risk with 90210, the original series holding a legion of fans. What are they feeling now?

If I was hooked up to a Cringe-O-Meter during 90210 tonight, the make-believe device would have exploded by the half hour mark. There were bad jokes, hokey dramatic moments, unearned character epiphanies, inexcusable dialogue and a plethora of scenes that made me want to never tune in to 90210 again. But, we know the series has potential. There have been good episodes. The ingredients are there. However, the execution, especially over the past two weeks, has been nothing short of abysmal. It's painful to watch actors who have shown much talent in previous episodes have to wade through dialogue so poor, moments so contrived, and interactions so banal.

90210 has been without the overt bitchiness expected of it for most of the season. Until tonight. The entire episode was a vengeance ploy by Naomi to get back at Annie, who has been secretly hooking up with her ex-boyfriend Ethan. A pretty typical prime time soap opera story line, except that Naomi goes to ridiculous lengths to exact the revenge she desires. She's kind of a loon. Story-wise, this is what, I think, fans have been waiting for. Unfortunately, the execution wasn't quite there. 90210 hasn't yet shown the consistency of a quality show. The potential is there, 90210 just has to harness it.
