Michael gets into a tiff with Meredith after he accidentally hits her with his car just outside the office. To make up for it, Michael launches the “Michael Scott’s Dunder Mifflin Scranton Meredith Palmer Celebrity Rabies Awareness Pro-Am Fun Race for the Cure.” His employees, however, are not too keen on the proposal, yet he is eventually forgiven by Meredith. Meanwhile, Dwight blunders on a task assigned to her by girlfriend Angela of taking care of her cat. He accidentally kills the cat and the two break up.

After announcing that they are dating to the camera crew on the last episode, Jim and Pam’s relationships are revealed to the rest of the office staff. Meanwhile, upon his return to Dunder Mifflin Scranton, Ryan introduces a program to use technology to invigorate activity in the company. Michael disagrees and says that improving personal relationship between the staff is still more important than any new office technology. He devises a plan to use gift baskets to win former clients back to no avail. He proceeds to crash his car into a lake after failing to use his car’s GPS.

Still adamant in proving that the human touch can beat new technology, Dwight shows off to Angela by beating the new computer in terms of sales. During the party, Dwight and Michael holds a pizza delivery boy hostage, and Michael ends up being humiliated by Ryan in full view of all the Dunder Mifflin branches.

Meanwhile, back at the office, Jim prepares to hold a combined celebration for four staff members whose birthdays fall on that particular month. When this is not received well by the staff, he resorts to go back to doing things the old-fashion way, that is, holding individual parties.

Meanwhile, a ping pong craze hits the office when a ping-pong table is brought in by the warehouse guys.

To remedy the problem and avoid working on a weekend, Jim suggests that they work late instead. Unfortunately, they find themselves locked on the office parking lot but outside the office. After making his liking for Pam known, Toby announces that he will be moving to Costa Rica.

Meanwhile, Michael, Pam, Oscar, and Darryl set up a booth at a job fair in Pam’s high school to look for possible candidates for summer internship at Dunder Mifflin Scranton, but they end up empty-handed mostly because Michael ends up insulting all the candidates. Left at the office, Dwight and Angela have an awkward day at the office, while Pam is on a lookout for graphic arts opportunities outside her current job.

On other twists, Jan returns from Arizona pregnant, Ryan is busted for defrauding the company, Andy bungles a proposal from Jim, and Angela and Dwight are caught having sex.
