Law and Order

Summary

Law & Order is the flagship of the Law & Order franchise, focusing on first the detective work involved in solving a crime, and second the legal efforts to prosecute it. This biphasic approach has secured Law & Order a place amongst the most progressive police dramas.

'Law & Order' Returns to NBC with Season 19 Tonight

November 5, 2008

The day has finally come for fans of NBC’s Law & Order as its anticipated 19th season is set to air tonight at 10pm.  In fact, the long-running show brings back Sam Waterston as Jack McCoy for its 328th episode titled “Rumble.”  Tonight, fans will get to see the fatal beating of a stockbroker, which then spurs an epic clash between his family and the group responsible for the murder.  As for Waterston, he says he is amazed at the show’s endurance on the airwaves and initially thought that it was going to be a short stint for him.

"I had no idea how long the show was going to last. But I knew I would only be with [Law & Order] for a year," Waterston says during a telephone conference call with television critics.

'Battlestar Galactica' Actress to Appear on 'Law & Order'

October 29, 2008

As reported recently, Law and Order will be returning for its 19th season earlier than originally scheduled.  With NBC's revamped schedule, the long-running crime drama has now been added to the Wednesday nigh block, beginning November 5.  But aside from the show's sooner-than-expected comeback, fans can expect a lot of guest stars this season.  One of which is Katee Sackhoff, who is perhaps best known for her role as Captain Kara "Starbuck" Thrace on the Sci Fi Channel television program Battlestar Galactica.

In addition to Battlestar Galactica, where she won a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series in 2006, Sackhoff has also appeared on Bionic Woman as Sarah Corvus, on Cold Case as Terri Maxwell and as Nell Bickford on The Education of Max Bickford.

NBC Brings Back 'Law & Order' Ahead of Schedule

October 27, 2008

Fans of NBC’s Law & Order are happy to know that they won’t have to wait for 2009 for their favorite show to return.  The long-running series was supposed to air its 19th season early next year, but NBC decided to give the fans of the show an early Christmas treat.  Zap2It reports that NBC has revamped their Wednesday schedule, which includes the new season of Law & Order.  In fact, the season premiere of Law & Order’s season 19 is set to air on Wednesday, November 5.

Moreover, NBC has scheduled Life to air on Wednesdays as well, between Knight Rider and Law and Order, forcing Lipstick Jungle back to a Friday night schedule.

Former 'Law & Order' Actor Coming Back to Television

October 6, 2008

Earlier this year, we reported that Jesse L. Martin expressed his sentiments on leaving Law and Order after his nine solid years of being a part of the show.  In April, his last episode was aired, and since then, he has pursued other endeavors. While fans were sad to see him leave, some of them have been hoping that the 39-year-old actor would come back to the television screen.  Good news await a those who were optimistic, as Martin is in talks to star in an NBC midseason series.

Reuters reports that six months after he departed Law & Order, Martin is interested in coming back to work on a television series titled The Philanthropist.

'Battlestar Galactica' Star Joining UK Version of 'Law & Order'

July 23, 2008

As a huge fan of Battlestar Galactica, it may take time for me to accept some of my favorite actors in new roles now that the series has finished filming its final episodes.  Will it be strange to see Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck) scrub in and cause trouble during the next season of Nip/Tuck?  Will I keep wondering where Boomer is when I see Tahmoh Penikett (Helo) on Joss Whedon's new FOX series, Dollhouse?  One actor who Americans may not be seeing much of in the near future is Jamie Bamber (Apollo).  The British star recently revealed to Kristin at E!Online that he's signed up for a new version of Law & Order that will take place in his home country of the UK.
