Toph is the 12-year old blind Earthbender in the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender. She has lived most of her life under the watch of overprotective parents, which makes her a bit selfish, arrogant and sarcastic. Despite being used to a wealthy lifestyle, she left home to join Aang on his journey. Her eagerness to prove that she can be independent has led to some difficulties with her friends. She often mistakes a simple friendly gesture as an act of pity for her blindness. But even though she is blind, she is a brilliant Earthbender who truthfully speaks her mind.
