Biography

American actor T.J. Thyne was born on March 7, 1975 in Boston, Massachusetts. He began his career as a stage actor, appearing in plays throughout the country at a young age. He eventually moved to Los Angeles, California, and eventually graduated with an acting degree from the University of Southern California in 1997. Through his time in college, he appeared in several student-produced plays, and also appeared as an extra in films, notably in the acclaimed Forrest Gump, which was shot in part at the USC campus.

Thyne is known for his many roles on television and film. Aside from working in theater, he has made over 50 guest appearances on television. These shows include Home Improvement, Party of Five, Friends, Becker, Early Edition, Walker, Texas Ranger, Just Shoot Me!, Dharma & Greg, Fastlane, Angel, CSI, Nip/Tuck, Without a Trace, Boston Legal, The OC, My Wife and Kids and 24. After working the guest circuit, he finally took his first regular television role, when he joined the cast of the police drama Bones in 2005. He played the role of sarcastic entomologist Jack Hodgins, the best friend of Zack Addy (Eric Millegan). His character is able to estimate the time a human died basing on the development of insect larvae in the remains; however, he is also very inclined towards conspiracy theories.

Thyne has also starred in several films; these include Edtv, Erin Brockovich, The Grinch, What Women Want, Something’s Gotta Give and Raise Your Voice.

Thyne continued to be active in the Los Angeles theater scene. He established Theater Junkies Productions in 2002, which produced plays staged in the city, as well as several short films. He produced and starred in the short film Validation, which has made the rounds of film festivals across the country and has won several awards in the process.
