Tin Man

Summary

Welcome the reimagining of L. Frank Baum's classic The Wizard of Oz, but instead of the usual Dorothy in pigtails, you get the Outer Zone (O.Z.) filled with a cast of fantastical inhabitants such as wicked witches and disillusioned inventors. What's worse is that the land is ruled by the oppressive sorceress Azkadellia, who has gained power from the rightful queen, her own mother Lavender Eyes. Who else can save the land from the evil claws of the sorceress by DG, who has been thrown in the magical world of O.Z. after a tornado hit the Midwest.

'Tin Man' Actor Joins the Cast of 'Desperate Housewives'

July 1, 2008

Neal McDonough is moving to Wisteria Lane, after playing Wyatt Cain on Tin Man, a three-part television miniseries re-imaging of L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.  The 42-year-old actor has joined the cast of ABC’s Desperate Housewives as a regular next season, according to Michael Ausiello, former TV Guide gossip columnist who has now taken a new post at Entertainment Weekly.

Aside from Tin Man, McDonough is also known for portraying Jack Freed on the short-lived American drama-thriller Traveler.  He is also credited for his roles on Medical Investigation, Boomtown, Band of Brothers, Murder One, and The Incredible Hulk, just to name a few.  On the big screen, he has been cast in They Call Him Sasquatch, Walking Tall, Silent Men, Flags of Our Fathers and Perfect Little Man, in which he won a Jury Award for Best Actor in 1999.

Exclusive Interview: 'Tin Man' Creators Steven Long Mitchell and Craig Van Sickle

November 30, 2007

This Sunday, December 2 at 9pm, the Sci Fi Channel will premiere its latest high-profile miniseries event, Tin Man.  A fantasy re-imagining of The Wizard of Oz, Tin Man is a six-hour miniseries that will air over three consecutive nights, Sunday-Tuesday at 9pm.  Created by Steven Long Mitchell and Craig W. Van Sickle (who previously created the TV drama The Pretender), Tin Man was originally conceived as a weekly TV series, but was expanded by the network.

BuddyTV spoke to the two creators of Tin Man in anticipation of the premiere.  They discussed how it originally came into being, how they assembled the impressive cast that includes Neal McDonough, Zooey Deschanel, Alan Cumming and Richard Dreyfuss, and the many Easter egg nods to the original book and film fans can expect to see.  Continue reading for a full transcript as well as the audio file of the interview.

November 2, 2007

Tin Man, the SCI-FI Network's rendition of L. Frank Baum's The Wizard of Oz, takes us into a darker, more sinister re-imagining of the fabled classic.  In today's version of the fantasy, Oz is known as the Outer Zone (O.Z.) and our heroine goes by the shorter name of DG.

Tin Man stars Zooey Deschanel, Richard Dreyfuss, Raoul Trujillo, Kathleen Robertson, Alan Cumming and Neal McDonough in the title role of Tin Man.
