Born on December 27, 1964 in Los Angeles, California, Theresa Randle is an actress best known for her role as a young out-of-work actress who gets entangled in the seductive world of phone sex in Spike Lee’s Girl 6 and Spawn. Her introduction to performing was when she started studying traditional, modern, and jazz dance and comedy. She attended Beverly Hills College under a special program from the exceptionally gifted. After college, she was able to land her first role at the Los Angeles Inner City Cultural Center alongside a few commercials and some stage roles, such as In Command of the Children, Sonata, 6 Parts of Musical Broadway, and Fight the Good Fight.
Randle landed her first on-screen break with the 1987 comedy fantasy film starring Ally Sheedy called Maid to Order. She subsequently appeared in small roles in movies such as Easy Wheels in 1989, Heart Condition in 1990 with Denzel Washington, King of New York in 1990, and Jungle Fever and Malcolm X with director Spike Lee. She was able to land co-starring status in 1993 opposite Chris Rock in CB4 and Bad Boys with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in 1995. Her first starring role, however, came in 1996 with the film Girl 6 about a phone sex operator. Famed director Quentin Tarantino makes an interesting cameo appearance in this film. Girl 6 got mixed reviews.
Randle’s other credits include the 1994 film Sugar Hill with Wesley Snipes, 1996’s Space Jam with Michael Jordan, and the film adaptation of the comic book Spawn in 1997. Randle also plays the role of a psychologist specializing in adolescents and families named Dr. Cordelia Banks in the Lifetime series Stage of Mind. She bagged the role of Patricia Kent on Law and Order: Criminal Intent, a role that was previously held by Courtney Vance as assistant district attorney assigned to the Major Case Squad. She, however, only appeared in a couple of episodes.
