When I heard that The Ex List, CBS' new romantic comedy, was being scheduled Fridays at 9pm between Ghost Whisperer and Numb3rs, the first thing I did was write the headline for this article. If Moonlight couldn't survive this timeslot, The Ex List never had a chance. According to TVGuide, The Ex List is being axed effective immediately.
Technically, CBS is only removing it from the schedule, though at this point, the cancellation is just a formality. This Friday, a repeat of NCIS will air Friday at 9pm, and it will probably do better than The Ex List.

When The Ex List premiered earlier this month, Bella Bloom and the rest of the girls serve as eye candy especially for the show's male viewers. But as Bella begins to re-open doors to the past and search for her future husband among her exes, it seems that the program's crowd-puller may have shifted to its hunky guest stars.
In an interview with TV Guide, lead star Elizabeth Reaser reveals who's coming on The Ex List as Bella's former beaus.

A few days ago, BuddyTV’s very own Debbie Chang reviewed CBS’ The Ex List, which began airing as a fall offering last week. The show, which stars Grey's Anatomy's Elizabeth Reaser, follows 30something Bella as she embarks on a journey to find Mr. Right (within a time frame of one year), a task she must complete or else she'd spend the rest of her life alone, a psychic warns her. The catch is that she has already found Mr. Right and his name is in her list of failed relationships. Recently, Elizabeth Reaser spoke to TV Guide to reveal some thoughts on her character, which is lighter and more fun than her heavy drama counterpart on Grey’s Anatomy.
"I'm always being tragic, anything where they're making a buffoon out of me, I love," she told TV Guide. "The more buffoonery, the better!"

I fall squarely into the target demographic of CBS’ new Friday night offering, The Ex List. I am an unmarried urban woman in my 20s who has had her share of breakups but who still plans to get married some day. Watching this show should be like looking at a mirror onto my soul. I should be finding a fictional kindred spirit in this show, but let me tell you, I found The Ex List excruciating to watch.
The Ex List stars Elizabeth Reaser (she of Grey’s Anatomy ferry victim fame) as Bella Bloom, a 33-year-old proprietress of a flower shop with a penchant for saying “dude.” She visits a psychic as part of the festivities of her sister’s bachelorette party where she learns that the man she is supposed to marry is one whom she has already had a romantic relationship with. The only catch is, she must reconnect with him and marry him within a year; otherwise, she will be doomed to spend eternity alone. [cue ominous music]

On Friday, creator and executive producer Diane Ruggiero withdrew from CBS’ The Ex List. Her sudden departure came as a surprise to CBS and producing studio 20th Century FOX. Insiders say that the reason for her sudden departure is that she couldn’t come in terms with CBS, who saw a different direction for the show than she did. While CBS wanted something closer to the original Israeli format of Mythological X, the season producer, who has worked with hits such as Veronica Mars, wanted something more unique for The Ex List.
The show has already shot six episodes, and the remaining will be handled by Rick Eid, who takes over as executive producer.

Audiences connected to Reaser during the third season of Grey's Anatomy where she played Ava, the pregnant crush victim who developed a crush on Dr. Karev. That exposure made her a recognizable star, and now she has her own show as a charming young woman looking for love.
