The Departed User Reviews Write a review

The Departed I had to watch about half the movie for a criminal justice class and then write a paper on it. I couldn't wait to watch the rest. I bought it on the way home. The acting is outstanding by all. For me though, the one who really comes through in this movie is Leonardo Di Caprio. I've been a fan of his since Gilbert Grape. In this movie he won over a lot of people who previously thought his acting lame. He was 100% believable. The only part I really didn't like was the very last shot with the mouse on the banister. I found it a bit cheesy. I do understand the parody and why it would be there. This is a movie I can watch over and over. In fact, I've have.

'The Departed' Review: Scorsese Creates Another Crime Classic

April 21, 2008

When I first saw The Departed I thought it was far too much fun to ever win a Best Picture Oscar.  Best Picture winners are often many things -- moving, tough to watch, socially relevant, about an hour too long -- but rarely are they the types of movies you want to throw in your DVD player and watch five times in a row.  It turns out I was wrong, for not only did The Departed win the big prize, but it also brought Martin Scorsese the first Best Director Oscar of his career.  It's an award that was long overdue, and one he certainly earned for creating one of the most stylishly entertaining crime films of the new millennium.
