‘Smallville‘ Fan Columnist: Demons From the Past Threaten the Future

After months of intense anticipation to see how the Blur will survive that deadly fall, Smallville kicks off its tenth and final season. "Lazarus" arrives with the stepping-stones for Clark Kent‘s final journey in becoming the world‘s greatest hero.  With callbacks to the past and evil looming everywhere, it looks like we have a mind-twisting season ahead of us and if you blink you might miss something.RevelationsJust as I had feared after the finale, Lois Lane is the one to find Clark‘s body.  Cradling him in the iconic position, Lois pleads for him not to leave her while Clark faces off with Jor-El in the abyss between life and death. Jor-El sounds from above to lecture Clark in the never-ending evils of the world.  Challenging his old man, Clark insists he send him back to Earth.  Jor-El goes silent and the possibility of Clark dying sinks in for a moment but that‘s not what caused a gasp.  Looking around, Clark sees a familiar bald figure.  That‘s right, Lex Luthor is there in limbo.  Unfortunately it is not Michael Rosenbaum but it gets the blood pumping nonetheless.  With a flash of light the sun is up and the Blue Kryptonite dagger is out.  Who knows how long Lois waited to pull it out but seeing her man start to awaken, she runs off and watches her hero heal in the sun before superspeeding away.
