GLAAD Nominates 'Supernatural,' 'True Blood' for Awards

January 27, 2009

Today the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation released its nominees for the 20th Annual GLAAD Media Awards. Aside from the usual television nominees like The L Word and Ugly Betty, there was one atypical nominee: Supernatural.

The GLAAD Media Awards have a special category for an individual episode of a show that doesn't feature a regular gay character. Supernatural was nominated for “Ghostfacers,” the faux reality TV series episode that featured intern Corbett (current 90210 jock Dustin Milligan) who had a gay infatuation with Ed, resulting in the classic line, “Ed, you have to go be gay for that poor dead intern.”

Skins

July 9, 2008

Skins, the award-winning British comedic teen drama from Company Pictures, is now coming to U.S. audiences.  The series, which is one of E4's flagship programs in their attempt to start showing more British content on their channels, will be aired on BBC America starting August 13 at 9pm ET/PT.

Expect teenagers to grab life by the balls in the hot new drama Skins.  Created by Jamie Brittain and Bryan Elsley, the series revolves around the lives of a group of friends, consisting of 16 to 19-year-olds who live in Bristol.  Described as a representation of the everyday lives of adolescents, each episode features a self-contained theme that focuses on each different character, while leaving room for several story arcs that span different episodes.  In each episode of Skins, there is also a short accompanying montage of that episode's central character.
