Sharon Nash appears as a contestant in the television reality series America’s Next Producer. Born on November 29, 1960, she grew up in Maryland but has lived in Los Angeles for the past 18 years. She studied at the University of North Texas, and says that her favorite types of shows to produce are game contests, talent series, and shows with live audiences. On the other hand, Sharon bemoans the absence of unions for producers, the lack of benefits, and the long hours that often go into their work. She also recommends that aspiring producers should start in a small market, or as an associate producer assisting part of a larger project.
She states that a must-have production tool is the Internet, and names a number of recent favorite shows, such as
Project Runway ,
Nip/Tuck ,
America’s Got Talent , and
Lost . She also cites the Academy Award-winning Little Miss Sunshine as her most favorite recent movie. Among her own previous projects, she’s proud of a fantasy family film that she wrote. Sharon’s favorite actress is Helen Mirren, and her favorite director is Adrian Lyne. She also says that among the most innovative producers in the field today is Fremantle Entertainment, and that their talent is both changing the music industry as well as winning Grammy Awards.
