American actor Sean Gunn was born on May 22, 1974 in St. Louis, Missouri. Having four brothers and one sister, he and his family landed careers mostly in the entertainment industry. Some of brothers are James, a screenwriter and director and Patrick, an executive producer for Artisan Entertainment. Sean attributed his acting abilities to his parents. His mother stressed on the importance of having a strong imagination, while his father emphasized having strong people skills. Sean was educated at the Jesuit St. Louis University High School and later earned his degree from the Goodman School of Drama at the DePaul University. Upon graduating, he and his friends started a theater company in Chicago. While scouting out auditions, he landed first acting job on an advertisement for the Illinois lottery.
Sean Gunn began his professional acting career with roles in 1996’s Tromeo and Juliet and 1998’s Stricken. This was followed by portrayals in The Auteur Theory and an episode of Any Day Now, both in 1999. In 2000, he landed a guest role in the series Gilmore Girls, playing Mick the handyman. However, he was asked to return to play the recurring character, Kirk Gleason. Since 2002 until the series end in 2007, he became a regular cast member, being one of the most eccentric characters on the show. When he began his rise to popularity, he appeared on other television series as well. Gunn was seen on two episodes of Angel, and was featured on The Michael Richards Show, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Going to California, Yes Dear, and Brutally Normal. In 2007, he was given a role on the series October Road, playing the character Rooster. Some of the films he has starred in include The Specials, Love, Sex & Murder, Pearl Harbor, Fish Out of Water, and Jesus, Mary and Joey. Other than acting, poker is Sean Gunn’s hobby. He has been known to play poker and Pounce games with his Gilmore Girls co-star, Keiko Agena.
