Award-winning American actress Sandra Bullock is one of the richest female celebrities, whose films such as Miss Congeniality, Speed and Crash have become box-office draws.
Born on July 26, 1964 in Arlington, Virginia, she first took minor parts in her mother’s opera productions, and has studied ballet and vocal arts. She attended East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, but left almost before graduating to pursue an acting career. She appeared in several student films and off-Broadway plays in New York, before she worked on the 1989 television movie Bionic Showdown: The Six Million Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman.
One of Bullock’s first notable films is the 1993 action flick Demolition Man, which also starred Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes. This led her to the role of the romantic lead, Annie Porter, in the 1994 film Speed. Her films, which were box-office successes, raised her profile significantly. These include While You Were Sleeping, released in 1995; Speed 2: Cruise Control, released in 1997; and The Prince of Egypt, where she provided voice work, in 1998.
In 2000, Sandra Bullock appeared in the comedy Miss Congeniality, about an FBI agent who works undercover in a beauty pageant. The film was a box-office success, and led to the 2005 sequel Miss Congeniality 2: Armed & Fabulous. She also appeared in the 2002 crime drama Murder by Numbers.
In 2004, Bullock appeared in a supporting role in the film Crash. The film was well-received by critics, and she was also praised, with some critics suggesting that it was the best performance of her career. Two years later, she appeared with Keanu Reeves on the fantasy romance The Lake House, and in 2007, she appeared in the drama Premonition.
Bullock also has her own production company, Fortis Films. It is notable for producing programs like George Lopez, which earned her $10 million when a syndication deal was struck.
