Actor Sam Huntington was born on April 1, 1982 in Peterborough, New Hampshire. His career began at an early age; his mother ran a local theater, and it is there where he started performing. Arguably he was also inspired by his great-grand-uncle, actor Ralph Bellamy. He began acting as part of the renowned Peterborough Players at age nine, where he performed in several of their productions over four seasons. He then moved to New York, where he juggled his studies at the Professional Children’s School with his acting roles, including the 1997 Disney film Jungle 2 Jungle.
Huntington continued acting despite his return to New Hampshire to study. After a role in the film Detroit Rock City, he entered Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, and continued appearing in films such as Not Another Teen Movie and Rolling Kansas. His graduation only marked the beginning of his focus on an acting career, with roles in many other films, including In Enemy Hands, Raising Genius, Sleepover, Superman Returns and Looking Up Dresses.
Huntington also intensified his television appearances, beginning with guest roles in CSI: Miami, CSI: NY and Veronica Mars. In 2007, he joined the cast of Cavemen, a comedy inspired by the series of television commercials made for Geico. He played Andy, the weak-willed and childish brother of Joel (Bill English), who nevertheless means well, despite his hits of rage and depression. The series was, however, put on hiatus when the WGA writers’ strike began in last 2007, and was ultimately cancelled before the strike saw a resolution.
