Born on June 5, 1967 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Ron Livingston is an actor best known for his lead role as a disaffected corporate employee in the cult classic Office Space. Some fans know him as that writer Berger whom Carrie Bradshaw briefly hooked up with on HBO’s Sex and the City. His other notable roles include that of Captain Lewis Nixon on the miniseries Band of Brothers and FBI negotiator Matt Flannery on the Fox series Standoff. The son of a Lutheran pastor and an aerospace engineer, Livingston has a younger brother, John, who is also on actor and a sister Jennifer who is a television news personality in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He graduated from Marion High School in Marion, Iowa, and subsequently graduated from Yale University with multiple degrees in theater and English. After college, he moved to Chicago and became part of the city’s theater circuit.
Livingston landed his first film role in 1992 with Dolly Parton's Straight Talk. He then decided to move to Los Angeles, where he bagged a supporting role in Some Folks Call it a Sling Blade and The Low Life. Meanwhile, he landed his first role in a major film in 1996's Swingers. His first serious role came in HBO's Band of Brothers as Captain Lewis Nixon. Going beyond nice-guy roles, Livingston played a shark-like Hollywood agent in Adaptation; a weaselly Ivy League upstart to Alec Baldwin's casino boss in The Cooler; and an unfortunate English teacher in Pretty Persuasion. He also appeared as Jack Berger, Carrie's boyfriend in the sixth season of Sex and the City, as well as in the episode "TB or not TB" of Fox’s medical dramedy House. He stars as Matt Flannery in the FOX series Standoff.
During the summer of 2007, Livingston appeared on the off-Broadway world premiere of In a Dark Dark House alongside Frederick Weller and Louisa Krause at New York City’s Lucille Lortel Theater.
