Rachel Gatina (Danneel Harris) first appeared on "One Tree Hill" in the third season. From the very beginning she is depicted as being abrasive and cruel. She seems to have it out for Brooke (Sophia Bush) and tries unsuccessfully to ruin Brooke's relationship with Lucas (Chad Michael Murray). She creates a close relationship with Mouth (Lee Norris), which also annoys Brooke as she used to be very close to Mouth.

Rachel has a lot of problems with self-esteem and is constantly on a roller coaster in her relationships. She dates Nathan's (James Lafferty) uncle and is constantly trying to date people who are already in relationships.

In season five, Rachel is seen in Brooke's New York apartment. She appears to be strung out on drugs and Brooke takes her to Tree Hill to help her. Rachel ends up stealing money and disappears again.
