Brooke Davis (Sophia Bush) started as a young, wealthy, socially elite high schooler and evolved into a strong, smart, and savvy woman. In high school she ruled as captain of the cheerleading squad and dated whomever she pleased. Her parents provided her with luxuries, but were absent and neglectful. Her best friend Peyton Sawyer (Hilarie Burton) dated Nathan Scott (James Lafferty), captain of the Tree Hill Raven's basketball team. Together, the three of them were the trifecta of the school...until Nathan's brother Lucas Scott (Chad Michael Murray) entered the picture. Thus began a love triangle between Brooke, Lucas and Peyton.
Always the young entrepreneur, Brooke started a service known as "DW not I" which provided rides to drunk teens to prevent drunken driving. Eventually she found her niche with fashion and formed a hugely succesful company "Clothes before Bros" which is her mantra in life. In high school Brooke is in love with Lucas, and even severed her friendship with Peyton over it. Eventually she realized that Lucas and Peyton loved one another, and wanted her friends to be happy.
Brooke's company takes her away from Tree Hill and to New York. Here she pairs with her mother and becomes wealthy in her own right. It would seem that New York would be the perfect spot for someone as wild, vivacious and fun as Brooke, but she longs for the deeper connections she made in Tree Hill with Peyton, Lucas, Nathan, and Haley James Scott (Bethany Joy Galenz). She brings her company home, leaving her mother and finally steps out from under her mother's shadow.
With her newfound independence, Brooke begins to look for connections and longs to have a child. She fosters a teenage girl, Samantha, as well as a baby from an impoverished nation. Being a mother herself, allows her to let go of some of the past resentment that she carries towards her mother. These events change her from the promiscuous, wild, party girl to a strong, grounded young businesswoman.
Completing this transformation is the occurrence of the one thing she has always been looking for: real love. It comes in the form of Julian Baker (Austin Nichols), a film producer who captures her heart. Afraid to let her true feelings for Julian show, Brooke does not tell him how she feels. Julian is also the ex-boyfriend of Peyton which causes more conflict for her. After she receives Peyton's well wishes, she goes to Julian and they become engaged.
